We took the shuttle from O'Hare airport. It was late at night and busy, so it took about 2.5 hours to get a ride from the airport to the hotel. The check-in process moved right along; however, the initial room had definitely NOT been readied by housekeeping. I returned to the front desk and was assigned an adequate (not great - shower wasn't very clean, half of the complimentary toiletries were empty) room. It was well past midnight, so I didn't make a fuss. Unfortunately, 45 min later someone ELSE who had also been given a key to our room, tried to key into it. Not cool. The bed was comfortable and the rest of the night was quiet. The early shuttle we reserved back to the airport was on time and problem-free.
For those in the Illinois region, the Wyndham Garden Schaumburg Chicago Northwest is positioned as a functional and conveniently located hotel option. It is part of the Wyndham Garden brand, which typically focuses on providing a mid-range, full-service experience with a garden-inspired aesthetic. The hotel aims to be a practical choice for both business travelers and those on a family trip, offering a range of amenities designed to make a stay comfortable. However, public reviews and available data suggest that the guest experience can be inconsistent. While some guests have had positive experiences with the staff and location, others have raised significant concerns about cleanliness, maintenance, and the availability of advertised services. This indicates that while the hotel has potential as a good size and well-located venue for conferences and events, as one guest pointed out, its current state may not fully meet the expectations of all travelers.
The hotel is a four-story suburban building that, according to some data, was last renovated in 2014. It is situated along a scenic lake, which provides a pleasant backdrop and a more tranquil feel than a typical city hotel. The on-site restaurant and event spaces are key components of the hotel's offering, suggesting that it is designed to be a hub for more than just overnight stays. However, it's important to note that a recent review stated that the restaurant, bar, and pool were "closed temporarily until further notice," which directly contradicts other promotional material. This discrepancy is a critical piece of information for any potential guest and highlights the importance of confirming the availability of specific amenities before booking. The hotel's staff is a point of contention in public feedback, with some guests praising their helpfulness while others cite rudeness and unprofessionalism, making the overall experience a matter of chance.
The Wyndham Garden Schaumburg Chicago Northwest is located at 1725 E Algonquin Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60173, USA. This address places it in a prime location with excellent accessibility to key areas of the Chicagoland suburbs. Its proximity to major highways, particularly I-90, is a significant advantage for travelers. The hotel is situated just 12 miles from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), and according to some sources, it offers a complimentary area shuttle service within a five-mile radius, which is a huge benefit for air travelers, though it's worth noting one guest had a long wait time for this service.
The location is also ideal for a variety of local activities and events. It is near the Schaumburg Convention Center, making it a highly convenient option for attendees of conferences and trade shows. It is also a short drive from popular destinations such as Woodfield Mall, LEGOLAND Discovery Center, and the Improv Comedy Club, providing guests with numerous options for shopping and entertainment. For sports and nature enthusiasts, attractions like Arlington Park Racecourse and the Busse Woods nature preserve are also within a reasonable distance. The availability of free self-parking is another major convenience for guests traveling with their own vehicles.
While a number of amenities may be subject to change or temporary closure, the Wyndham Garden brand typically offers a set of services to enhance the guest experience. It is recommended that guests call ahead to confirm the availability of these services before their stay.
Despite the inconsistencies in service, the hotel is still highlighted for certain features that, when operational, can be a great benefit to guests.

In conclusion, for people in the Illinois region, the Wyndham Garden Schaumburg Chicago Northwest is suitable as a practical, centrally-located option, but it requires careful consideration. For locals planning a large conference or event, the hotel's event spaces and location are a strong draw. The proximity to major corporate centers and the airport makes it a logical choice for hosting out-of-town guests for business. However, for a personal leisure trip or a "staycation," prospective guests should be aware of the potential issues noted in customer reviews. It is highly recommended that locals call the hotel directly to confirm the availability of key amenities like the pool, restaurant, and shuttle service, and to ask about the condition of the rooms, as the experience seems to vary widely. Given the mixed feedback, the hotel appears to be a viable option for those who prioritize a good location and a budget-friendly price point over guaranteed top-tier service and pristine conditions. By doing due diligence, locals can determine if the Wyndham Garden Schaumburg Chicago Northwest is the right fit for their specific needs.

Jul 22, 2025 · Susan Lowe WegertDirty towels were left in my room when I entered for the first time. I did not feel safe here. Someone took my “do not disturb” sign off my door. And me and my friends staying beside me had doors that were barely functional. My front door was hard to close. And the cleaning person was rude and not friendly. There’s no breakfast and no pool. Staff said it was “under construction” it’s clearly not. The elevators were scary too, a very concerning alarm went off and the elevators stopped working multiple times during my 3 days here. I hope someone can fix this hotel up, it seems like a good size with a good location for conferences/ events.
Jun 23, 2025 · Celeste AWe enjoyed our short get away. Room table was a little dusty bed linens were fresh & cleaned hallways nice & clean bathroom the views outside was lovely. Only this was the swimming pool was closed off & we wasn’t informed up front.
Jul 21, 2025 · Mary Thompson McVaneFirst, the good: it’s clean, the towels are thick and soft, the toiletries are high end (although tiny). But, there’s lots of bad: despite the promises on Wyndham’s website, there is no free breakfast. They only offer free coffee in the morning. Also, if you stay multiple days, you have to request housekeeping. Even then, don’t expect it. I requested a daily room cleaning on a Thursday and checked out on a Sunday. My room was never cleaned, even after I complained at the front desk on Friday. Finally, the hotel has seen better days. While age is not necessary a bad thing, the slight smell of mold in the room wasn’t pleasant. One elevator died while I was staying there.
Jun 17, 2025 · Thea AllendorfThe rooms are clean and pretty nice, especially for the price. The front desk staff is very very nice and helpful as well. We will be coming back. The pool was closed though unfortunately and the elevators were down for a while which is kind of scary.
