Cira Centre South, 2929 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA
First time I stayed I had a room with a weird layout. Nice to have a full kitchen and the excellent views. Light switches are a bit hard to find and I ended up unplugging them instead. Bed is low to the ground but comfortable enough for a couple of nights stay. My second stay I had a larger (accessible) room. The shower head is so high, that I cannot reach it to adjust the spray direction. A couple of the hand towels and dark stains on them. The thermostat can be set to adjust temperature, but the fan is so loud it sounds like a freight train constantly running. The whole building feels uncared for and un-maintained. The elevator smelled distinctly of trash during my last visit. Location is great and the views are lovely. Rooms could use some different blinds/curtains. Garage parking is convenient (not included or associated with hotel).

Environment: Prime Location with Panoramic City Views

This strategic positioning offers a multitude of environmental advantages. Guests are immediately immersed in a dynamic urban landscape, known for its academic institutions, research facilities, and medical centers, including the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), which one family found particularly convenient for their hospital visit. The surrounding area is characterized by contemporary architecture, green spaces, and a vibrant street life. The fact that the building offers "excellent views" and "lovely views" of the city skyline is a significant highlight, providing a constant visual connection to the urban energy outside.
University City is a hub of innovation and culture, with numerous dining options, from casual eateries to upscale restaurants, and various cultural attractions. Public transportation is readily accessible, connecting guests to downtown Philadelphia, historic sites, and other neighborhoods with ease. While the hotel does not directly manage "garage parking," its availability and convenience within the complex are noted benefits for guests with vehicles. Services: Guest-Centric Care with Modern Amenities
AKA University City operates with a focus on providing guest-centric services tailored for extended stays. While not explicitly detailed in every review, the mention of "requests taken care of and recommendations given" suggests an attentive staff dedicated to ensuring a comfortable and well-supported experience. The prompt delivery of a "pack n play quickly delivered to our room" for a family highlights their responsiveness to specific guest needs. The overall sentiment of feeling "very safe and well taken care of" further underscores the quality of service provided.
As an extended-stay property, AKA University City would typically offer services such as regular housekeeping (though frequency may vary for longer stays), concierge assistance, and potentially grocery delivery services to complement the in-suite kitchens. The availability of amenities like the "Walnut Cafe" on-site means guests have immediate dining options without leaving the premises, catering to various needs from quick bites to more substantial meals. The phone numbers (215) 372-9000 and +1 215-372-9000 are available for direct inquiries and reservations, facilitating easy communication for potential and current guests. While one review mentioned concerns about the building feeling "uncared for and un-maintained" and an elevator "smelled distinctly of trash," this contrasts with another family's "very pleased" stay and perception of the unit as "clean." This suggests variability in guest experience or perhaps specific instances that don't reflect the overall standard, but it's important for an objective review to acknowledge this feedback.

May 15, 2025 · MikalaMy husband, 2.5 y/o daughter and I stayed for 3 nights due to a hospital visit at CHOP. We were very pleased with our stay. We splurged a bit to stay in a 1 bedroom suite with a den and it was so nice to be able to spread out. The unit was clean, had a wonderful view and was mostly quiet. We were able to dine at the walnut cafe, swim in the pool (water was a little chilly, but the air was warm). We felt very safe and well taken care of (pack n play quickly delivered to our room, requests taken care of and recommendations given). Overall we would absolutely return.
Mar 29, 2025 · Becky RazDifficult to locate with GPS took an hour extra to find hotel. No amenities included parking is self parking, hotel room large with beautiful view but very dusty my girlfriend and I have asthma and had to clean the hotel room properly from dust mites. On hotel website states breakfast served daily but actually from a cafe which is joined next to hotel and have to pay for breakfast. If have to stay for a short stay at this hotel go for it but other than that definitely not recommended.
Mar 24, 2025 · Anthony IzurietaNot ready for a hotel. I got assigned an accesible room which is not ideal but had no time to change. No hot water in shower, heating turned off in the middle of the night, no black outs (plenty of illumination during night). Nice amenities and location. Very kind front desk.
Mar 04, 2025 · Carlos MoralesBig suite-style rooms with huge refrigerator and kitchen aappliances. There is a kitchen and living room, a bedroom and a bound/study room. The furniture and layout appears more like a service apartment than a typical hotel. Overall the room is pretty new and clean. Friendly front desk staff during check-in.
