Fine, Its Lovely experience at this hotel. Everything from the front desk staff to guest services showed such kindness to me during a difficult time. The hotel is perfectly suited to the needs of visitors to the medical campus. The rooms are well appointed and the restaurant very good. Mostly, though, I am struck by the incredible kindness that everyone associated with this hotel has shown.

The Study at University City Introduce

For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me" in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, particularly within the academic and medical hub of University City, The Study at University City presents itself as a notable option. Located at 20 S 33rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA, with contact numbers (215) 387-1400 and +1 215-387-1400, this hotel aims to cater to visitors of nearby universities and medical facilities, offering a distinctive experience. An objective introduction requires balancing both its strengths and reported challenges, providing a comprehensive picture for potential guests.

The environment of The Study at University City is primarily defined by its prime location. Situated strategically at 20 S 33rd St, it is "perfectly suited to the needs of visitors to the medical campus" and offers "good for proximity to Penn and center city." This places guests within walking distance of major institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) and Drexel University, as well as the bustling medical facilities that anchor this part of Philadelphia. The immediate surroundings would likely include a mix of academic buildings, research centers, hospitals, and potentially other commercial establishments catering to the university community. This urban academic setting means the environment is intellectually stimulating and well-connected to public transportation, making it convenient for navigating the city. The hotel's design philosophy, as suggested by its "Study" moniker, aims to create an atmosphere conducive to contemplation, learning, and comfortable unwinding, aligning with the academic environment. This often translates to public spaces designed with comfortable seating, ample lighting, and perhaps a library-like ambiance, fostering an environment where guests can relax, work, or engage in quiet pursuits.

In terms of services, The Study at University City has received commendation for its human element. One review highlights that "Everything from the front desk staff to guest services showed such kindness to me during a difficult time." This speaks volumes about the hotel's commitment to guest care and empathy, suggesting a service culture that prioritizes personalized attention and support, especially valuable for guests visiting medical facilities under stressful circumstances. Beyond the human touch, the hotel offers essential services expected of a property in its category. Rooms are described as "well appointed," indicating a focus on comfort and aesthetic appeal, likely including modern amenities. The presence of "the restaurant very good" signifies on-site dining options, providing convenience for guests who prefer to dine within the hotel premises rather than venturing out. While specific details on room service, concierge services, or other typical hotel amenities are not provided, the general positive sentiment around staff and the quality of the restaurant suggests a full-service approach to hospitality.

However, an objective introduction must also address reported issues. One significant concern raised by a customer is the presence of "BUGS! MICE!" in the hotel, with specific mentions of "several bugs in my hotel room" and "mice in the lobby." The review further states that when pointed out, someone else indicated it's "a regular occurrence." This is a critical issue that directly impacts guest comfort, hygiene, and overall satisfaction, especially for a hotel charging "around $300 a night." While the reviewer acknowledged that "lobby ambience is nice" and "Rooms and bathrooms are fine," the pest issue is a severe detractor that cannot be overlooked. This suggests potential challenges in maintaining cleanliness and pest control protocols, which can undermine the positive aspects of the hotel's environment and service quality. For any potential guest searching "Hotels Near Of Me," such information is paramount to consider.

Considering the features, the hotel aims for a sophisticated and comfortable experience. The "well appointed" rooms imply attention to detail in furnishings, decor, and amenities. This could include comfortable bedding, functional workspaces, modern bathrooms, and potentially features like complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions, and in-room coffee/tea facilities. The hotel's branding as "The Study" suggests common areas that encourage interaction and relaxation, such as a well-designed lobby that, despite the pest issue, is noted for its "nice ambience." The presence of an on-site restaurant simplifies dining for guests. The building itself, given its location in University City, is likely a modern structure designed to blend with the urban academic landscape. While the core features aim for a high standard, the pest issue undeniably detracts from the perceived quality and comfort that a guest would expect at this price point.

Promotional information for The Study at University City would undoubtedly highlight its unparalleled location for visitors to Penn, Drexel, and the medical campus. It would emphasize the convenience for those attending university events, visiting loved ones in hospitals, or conducting academic research. The hotel would promote its "well-appointed" rooms and "very good" restaurant as key amenities for a comfortable stay. The genuine "kindness" and excellent service shown by the staff would be a strong selling point, appealing to guests who value a personalized and supportive experience, particularly during challenging times. Marketing efforts would target a demographic that appreciates a boutique, intellectual ambiance and is willing to pay a premium for location and perceived quality. However, for a truly objective promotional message, the hotel would need to address the reported pest issues, perhaps by detailing robust pest control measures or offering assurances regarding cleanliness standards, to mitigate potential guest concerns. Without such an acknowledgment, the positive promotional aspects might be undermined by negative word-of-mouth or online reviews. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me," the presence of both highly positive and critically negative reviews creates a complex picture, urging potential guests to weigh their priorities carefully. The hotel's contact information: phone (215) 387-1400 and mobile phone +1 215-387-1400, along with its address at 20 S 33rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA, remain the direct channels for inquiry and booking.

BUGS! MICE! Found several bugs in my hotel room, and I have absolutely never seen bugs in a hotel room, even at cheaper prices than this. Also, there are mice in the lobby. When I pointed it out, someone else said it’s a regular occurrence. Other than that, lobby ambience is nice. Rooms and bathrooms are fine, but I would’ve preferred better for $300 a night. Location is good for proximity to Penn and center city, but wow! Regulars in there acted like the mice were normal.

This has become my go-to spot when I'm staying in Philly. The rooms are awesome, the location is perfect, and it has some of the friendliest and most helpful staff of any place I have ever stayed. Kashmir at the front desk is my new best friend. She makes every stay special and is truly incredible. Honestly, I would recommend this hotel based on her alone. But everything else about the hotel is also wonderful. Highly, highly recommend.

I usually never stay the same place twice because I like to experience what a city has to offer. But, I have had occasion to stay at The Study during trips to Children’s Hospital just a short walk away. I came back because we had the most amazing room the first time and the second time because the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. BUT, this time (and I will never go anywhere else) it’s because of Warren. This kind man allowed me to keep my car out front so that my daughter and I didn’t have to find parking before our CHoP visit. He then let me know that CHoP visitors can get a special rate! When you have a child who is a “frequent flier”, this is so helpful. I will never stay anywhere else again. Thank you Warren from the bottom of our hearts. Much love, Nancy and Hope

The hotel is centrally located- especially in close proximity to UPenn and Drexel University. The room was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. I also really appreciate how the hotel doesn’t rush you out in the morning. My one critique- for some reason, during the check-in process, my reservation was either incorrectly entered or deleted? Around 11:45 PM, I was awoken to someone attempting to open my door. Apparently, my reservation was not showing up in the computer system. We alerted the front desk of the issue, and then shortly there after, we received a call stating that there was no documentation of our reservation and we needed to report to the front desk. I explained to the front desk, that I had made my reservation through Travelocity and did in fact go through the check-in process. Additionally, I provided our reservation confirmation number- however, they wanted to see me in person. So at 12am, I got out of bed, got dressed, just for them to realize the issue was on their end. This was frustrating to say the least. I think what was most frustrating was that it broke my sleep and when it was discovered the issue was on the end of the hotel, nothing was done for my inconvenience. Ohhh then we got back to the hotel room to discover our key cards were deactivated- back down we went. Hopefully this was an isolated episode- however, waking someone up in the middle of the night is annoying and I wish they did a better job a rectifying this issue. Otherwise, if it weren’t for this experience, I would recommend this hotel.
