My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in May to explore the Hamptons. The hotel is 20 minutes from East Hampton and Main Beach. It's about 30 minutes to Montauk. Barons Cove is incredibly charming! The lobby and bar/living room area are gorgeous with high gloss black woodwork and a fireplace. The upstairs restaurant has a view of the harbor and is also gorgeous. It's traditional but very chic. The service was welcoming and friendly especially Christine at the front desk. We loved our room which was big with a comfy bed and a TV. The food at the restaurant was delicious. We had several meals there and all were perfect. We also ate at the American Hotel which was awesome. Nick and Toni's was great too. The town of Sag Harbor is absolutely perfect! It's so cute and the shops are not touristy. We loved Barons Cove and can't wait to go back!
For those seeking an exquisite escape within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in the Hamptons, Baron's Cove in Sag Harbor stands as a highly distinguished and celebrated destination. Located at 31 W Water St, Sag Harbor, NY 11963, USA, and reachable at (844) 227-6672 or +1 844-227-6672, this iconic resort seamlessly blends its rich history with contemporary luxury, offering a unique and unforgettable experience in one of Long Island's most picturesque villages. Dating back to the 1960s, the property has undergone significant renovations to become the preeminent All-American resort it is today.
Baron's Cove is renowned for its incredibly charming and sophisticated environment. The moment guests step into the lobby, they are greeted by gorgeous high-gloss black woodwork and a welcoming fireplace, setting a tone of traditional yet chic elegance. The design throughout the property features a classic waterfront palette of grays, blues, and whites, accented with old-school details and playful nautical nods, making it feel perfectly at home in Sag Harbor.
The hotel’s prime waterfront location is a major highlight, offering breathtaking views of Sag Harbor Cove and the marina. Many of the 67 charming village and harbor-facing rooms and suites feature private patios or balconies, allowing guests to savor the serene surroundings and spectacular sunsets. The property is also beautifully landscaped with gardens and outdoor entertainment areas, including a firepit, creating inviting spaces for relaxation and socializing.
Beyond the hotel grounds, its location offers unparalleled convenience. Baron's Cove is just a short stroll from Sag Harbor's charming Main Street, providing easy access to its unique shops, art galleries, local museums (like the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum), and diverse dining options. This walkability allows guests to immerse themselves in the local culture without needing to rely on a car. While a car is useful for exploring the wider Hamptons region (East Hampton is about 20 minutes away, Montauk around 30 minutes), Sag Harbor itself offers plenty to discover on foot.
Baron's Cove prides itself on providing a high level of service. Guests frequently commend the staff for being welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Christine at the front desk, for example, has been specifically praised for her exceptional service. The 24-hour front desk, concierge services, and bellhop service ensure that guests' needs are met at any time.
The resort offers a variety of beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites, including village-facing rooms, harbor-facing rooms, and spacious lofted suites with sweeping harbor views. Each room is designed for comfort and luxury, featuring plush bedding, Egyptian cotton sheets, hypo-allergenic bedding, and Tempur-Pedic beds to ensure a restful night's sleep. Rooms are equipped with modern amenities such as 48-inch flat-screen TVs with cable channels and streaming services, iPod docking stations, wet bars, and espresso makers. Private bathrooms come with designer toiletries, hair dryers, and bathrobes. Many rooms also feature private gardens or balconies, providing an intimate outdoor space. The hotel also offers dog-friendly accommodations, making it a welcoming destination for travelers with pets. Daily housekeeping ensures a fresh and comfortable environment throughout the stay.
Baron's Cove is equipped with a comprehensive range of features designed to cater to both relaxation and recreation.
Dining: The on-site restaurant at Baron's Cove is a classic All-American dining room that receives high praise. It features elevated takes on beloved Long Island fare, with dishes sourced from local farmers and artisans across the East End. Guests consistently describe the food as delicious, with meals being "perfect." The upstairs restaurant offers stunning views of the harbor, creating a picturesque dining experience. Downstairs, the cozy Lounge and outdoor deck provide intimate seating areas with indoor and outdoor fireplaces, casual rocking chairs, and comfortable Adirondack chairs, perfect for cocktails and lighter fare. Cooked-to-order breakfast is available daily (for a surcharge), and room service is offered during limited hours.
Pool and Wellness: A seasonal heated saltwater outdoor swimming pool is a major draw, complete with cabanas (surcharge), sun loungers, and pool umbrellas. The pool area is often described as a great spot for relaxation. For those looking to stay active, there's a fitness studio/gym, and yoga classes are available. The resort also offers spa services, including massage and treatment rooms, for ultimate pampering. Guests can enjoy access to tennis courts on-site.
Recreation and Activities: Baron's Cove provides complimentary bicycle rentals, allowing guests to explore Sag Harbor at their own pace. The concierge team is readily available to assist with arranging activities and tours in the Sag Harbor area, including watersports like kayaking and fishing. The resort also offers complimentary beach service with transportation to nearby beaches.
Business and Events: For corporate gatherings or special occasions, Baron's Cove offers meeting and event facilities. The resort features a business center and various event spaces suitable for meetings, family gatherings, or small banquets. Valet parking and free self-parking are available on-site, along with electric vehicle charging stations.
It is important to note that while many reviews are overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding the ambiance, location, and the quality of most meals, one customer did report a very negative experience during an Easter Sunday breakfast, citing cold, overcooked food, stale bread, and poor service, along with a disappointing Easter bunny appearance. This highlights the occasional inconsistency that can occur in any establishment, though it appears to be an isolated incident compared to the general sentiment. The hotel does, however, maintain a strict "no pets allowed" policy for the main hotel and restaurant areas, with the exception of service animals, though specific dog-friendly rooms are offered.
Baron's Cove often features a variety of packages and special offers designed to enhance the guest experience and provide value. These include:
"What a Difference a Day Makes": Encourages extended stays with potential savings for longer bookings.
"Discovering Steinbeck Package": Offers a deluxe escape with a tour of John Steinbeck's former Sag Harbor residence.

May 14, 2025 · Bonnie GundellEaster Sunday our family of 6 went to Barons Cove for breakfast- albeit we should know better than to go out on a holiday the Easter bunny appearance and the egg hunt to follow made the choice easy. We were seated on the outdoor porch assured that it would not be cold - it was! We ordered 4 meals that required butter and syrup , we were given one pat of butter for the table as well as a salad dressing size portion of maple syrup - we waited well into our meal for more butter and syrup which did not even melt because our food was cold by then. To say the least I will never go there again / the location and ambiance is beautiful but there are plenty of other places to choose and I choose to spend my money elsewhere.Absolutely disappointed to say the least, and furthermore the “bunny” must of had something else on his/her mind because he had no interest in my grand babies at all. It was a terrible experience, I don’t care how pretty the Inn is never again! Have you ever had chocolate milk with ice ? that is what they served my grand daughter.
