I would honestly give this place negative stars if able to except the staff was very friendly. I was looking forward to using the hot tub but found it drained and out of order. The workout room was super hot and in desperate need of a good cleaning. The register vents were not secure and were rusty most likely due to the staff proping the door from the pool to the workout room open. We found drug paraphernalia in our room, thus suspecting it was not cleaned very well. The lamp shades were rusty around the edges, we had to have someone come in and fix the toilet as it wouldn't stop running. The "Breakfast" was 2 containers of dry cereal on the front counter and a pitcher of warm apple juice. The attached restaurant was closed (I can only assume for remodeling). There were water marks from obvious leakage and the switches were absolutely disgusting. The register vents had peeling paid and only 1 of the two elevators worked and felt rather unsafe. The lobby smelled strongly of Marijuana and being allergic made it worse. I had a horrible headache by the end of day 2 but since it had been paid for weeks in advance through a third party, I was unable to change hotels. I also needed to add the office chair in the room should have been replaced months if not years ago. Pros: friendly staff. Cons; everything else.

Baymont by Wyndham Groton/Mystic Introduce

For those searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Groton, Connecticut, the Baymont by Wyndham Groton/Mystic at 360 CT-12, Groton, CT 06340, USA, presents itself as an option for travelers seeking accommodation in the area. This hotel is part of the Wyndham chain, often associated with a certain standard of service and amenities.

The Baymont by Wyndham Groton/Mystic is strategically located for both leisure and business travelers. It offers convenient access to significant local attractions and institutions. Key destinations such as the Naval Submarine Base New London and the USS Nautilus Memorial are within a short drive. For those interested in leisure, the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, as well as Mystic Seaport, are also easily accessible. The hotel's proximity to major highways like I-95 further enhances its convenience for travelers arriving by car. Additionally, the hotel has been noted for its shuttle service to Mohegan Sun Casino on Friday and Saturday evenings, a feature that may appeal to those looking for entertainment.

The environment of the Baymont by Wyndham Groton/Mystic, based on various guest reviews, appears to be undergoing a transition. While some guests have noted the property as being "quite old and in dire need of maintenance and renovation," suggesting a dated appearance in common areas like hallways with holes in walls, exposed maintenance rooms with peeling wallpaper, and elevators that may not always be fully functional, there are ongoing plans for future remodeling which could address these concerns. The lobby has, at times, been reported to have a strong odor, specifically of marijuana, which has unfortunately led some guests to cancel their reservations. Conversely, some positive feedback highlights its location as good, being surrounded by fast-food places and close to stores, offering convenience for quick meals and necessities.

Regarding services and features, the Baymont by Wyndham Groton/Mystic aims to provide a range of amenities to guests. Each of the 140 guestrooms is equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a microwave, and a refrigerator, offering practical conveniences for a comfortable stay. Complimentary wired and wireless internet access is available in rooms and public spaces. Bathrooms typically include a shower/tub combination and complimentary toiletries. Other in-room features may include desks, phones with free local calls, irons/ironing boards, and blackout drapes/curtains. The hotel generally offers free self-parking on-site. For dining, there is an on-site restaurant, Flanagan's Restaurant, specializing in American cuisine and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a bar/lounge available. However, it's important to note that this restaurant has been reported as closed for remodeling at times. While a "full breakfast" is advertised, recent guest experiences often describe it as basic, consisting of cold cereal, mini muffins, and yogurt, and available for a fee (approximately USD 6.99 to 10.99 per person) rather than being complimentary. The hotel also lists an indoor pool, a hot tub, and a fitness center as amenities, though reviews suggest the hot tub may sometimes be out of order and the workout room might lack cleanliness and proper ventilation. A 24-hour front desk is typically available, along with a 24-hour business center and meeting rooms, catering to business travelers. Laundry facilities are also available for guest use.

Customer experiences at the Baymont by Wyndham Groton/Mystic have been mixed, with a strong emphasis on the need for renovations. Many guests have praised the staff for being "very friendly" and helpful, even amidst the noted facility issues. This positive sentiment towards the staff is a recurring theme in reviews. The cleanliness of the beds and carpet within individual rooms has also been positively mentioned, suggesting that despite the age of the property, efforts are made in these specific areas. The hotel's location is generally well-regarded for its accessibility to major attractions and corporate entities. On the other hand, the negative feedback is significant and consistent. Issues frequently cited include the pervasive smell of marijuana in the lobby and hallways, suggesting a need for better air quality management and enforcement of non-smoking policies. The condition of common areas, including holes in walls, peeling wallpaper, and non-functional or unreliable elevators, indicates a pressing need for a comprehensive renovation. The hot tub and fitness room are often reported as being out of order or poorly maintained. The limited and often unappetizing "breakfast" options, despite being advertised as a feature, are a common point of disappointment. Concerns about security, particularly regarding doors not closing or locking properly in public areas, have also been raised. While the individual rooms may have clean beds and carpets, issues like outdated and loose sinks, ill-fitting toilet seats, and bathroom vents emitting old cigarette smoke odors underscore the general state of disrepair in some areas. These factors collectively contribute to a lower overall guest satisfaction for many, with some expressing a strong desire to stay elsewhere if alternative options were readily available.

In summary, the Baymont by Wyndham Groton/Mystic aims to serve guests seeking a stay in the Groton area, benefiting from its convenient location. While the staff generally receives positive remarks, potential guests should be aware that the hotel appears to be in a transitional phase regarding its physical condition, with ongoing maintenance and renovation needs. Travelers prioritizing amenities like a fully functional hot tub, a well-maintained fitness center, and a comprehensive complimentary breakfast might find the current offerings fall short of expectations. It is advisable for prospective guests to consider recent reviews and, if possible, confirm the current status of specific amenities and renovation progress directly with the hotel before booking, especially if the current condition of facilities is a significant factor in their accommodation choice.

I am writing to express my significant disappointment with the condition of your hotel during my recent stay. Had there been a suitable alternative available at a reasonable price, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere immediately upon arrival. The pervasive smell of marijuana in the main lobby was quite overwhelming and frankly, unacceptable. I witnessed another group with young children cancel their reservation due to this very issue. Beyond this, the property appears to be quite old and in dire need of maintenance and renovation. I understand from overhearing a conversation with the manager that there are plans for future remodeling, but in the meantime, the current state is concerning. As you will see in the attached photos, there are issues throughout the property, including holes in the walls in the hallways and an exposed maintenance room with peeling wallpaper that raises concerns about potential mold. Additionally, the doors to the restaurant and lobby do not seem to lock or even close properly, which is a serious security concern. While our individual room was not too bad– the beds were clean and comfortable, and the carpet seemed clean despite its age – there were still noticeable issues. The bathroom features an outdated and loose sink, and the toilet seat is not properly fitted. Furthermore, the bathroom vent/light combination is problematic, as the fan emits a strong odor of old cigarette smoke whenever the light is turned on. Finally, the breakfast options were basic, consisting only of cold cereal, mini muffins, and yogurt. Overall, the condition of your hotel was far below expectations, and I hope you will take these observations seriously to address the issues and improve the guest experience.

Unfortunately the worst hotel experience I've had. The entire building smelled like cigarettes, Marijuana and mold. In our "clean" room there was a half used bottle of shampoo with hair on it. The chair was ratty and falling apart. No shower curtain. Switch for fan had fallen off. Vending machine had maybe 2 items in stock. People stood at the front desk for way too long waiting for an employee. The big sign outside that was completely falling apart should have given me a hint. I assumed it couldnt be THAT bad but it sure was. I can't get over the smell of this place.

If all you need is a relatively clean plain room for a week long business trip this will do. The restaurant was closed. The pool was closed. The hot tub was closed. The laundry was closed. The fitness room was closed. And only one of the elevators worked. There was this odd smell in the atrium that I was unable to identify. It was still there at the end of the week.

What a disappointing dump. The restaurant isn't open. Pool is dark and gross. Fri night front desk guy was awesome, Saturday night guy was rude and could care less. Roof leaking in multiple areas. Saw a roach in the bathroom. Bed hard as a rock and they will not give you additional pillows or blankets. The guys straight up said "thats not gonna happen". This place is not sold out but doesnt have extra pillows or blankets....??? Don't waste your money.
