This place charged me twice and denied it. I showed the manager the 2 charges for 2 different days and for 2 differing amounts. He lied and said no. I asked for an accesible room as I'm in a wheelchair, yet such was not the case. There was no breakfast, continental or otherwise like was advertised as one of their amenities. My son looked in and learned no construction was going on as they lied and said. Another lacking amenities were the pool and the jacuzzi. I drove along way to stay one night in this stanky place just so I cd spend one day with my 89 year old mother. Take my advice, don't go here. Stay away from this place that tried to scam me out of over $100. Shame on this place.

The environment of the Baymont by Wyndham Youngstown is typical of a hotel situated along a busy commercial road like Belmont Avenue. This location offers direct access to various local businesses, dining options, and retail establishments in the Youngstown area. While not a secluded retreat, its positioning is practical for guests traveling by car, offering easy routes to different parts of the city. Nearby attractions and points of interest typically include Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, Youngstown State University, Stambaugh Auditorium, and the Covelli Centre, all within a few miles' drive. The surrounding area is generally characterized by urban and suburban development, providing a functional rather than a scenic backdrop for a stay. The hotel has parking available on-site.
The services commonly advertised by Baymont by Wyndham properties, and generally expected from this hotel, include a complimentary breakfast. Official listings often state a "free deluxe continental breakfast" with items such as eggs, sausage, pancakes, cereals, fruits, and pastries. Free Wi-Fi access is typically advertised throughout the property, aiming to ensure guests can stay connected for work or leisure. The hotel also typically features a 24-hour front desk, intending to provide round-the-clock assistance for check-ins, check-outs, and general inquiries. Housekeeping services are also usually provided daily. For business travelers, amenities such as a business center and meeting rooms are often listed. Laundry services are also noted as available, along with hot water linen and laundry washing, which would be beneficial for longer stays. The hotel also has an on-site restaurant and bar/lounge, potentially offering additional dining and relaxation options.
In terms of features, the Baymont by Wyndham Youngstown generally offers rooms equipped with standard amenities for comfort. These typically include air conditioning, flat-screen televisions with cable channels, private bathrooms with a bathtub or shower, and basic toiletries. Many rooms are advertised to include a microwave and a refrigerator, which are highly valued by guests for storing food and beverages. Coffee/tea makers, irons, and ironing boards are also commonly found in rooms. The hotel is often listed as pet-friendly, allowing guests to travel with their furry companions, although it's crucial to confirm any specific fees (e.g., approximately USD 20.00 per pet, per day) and weight limits (e.g., under 5 kg). Accessible rooms are often listed with features like roll-in showers, indicating an effort to cater to guests with mobility needs. Recreational features commonly advertised include an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and possibly a hot tub. The hotel is also listed as having tennis courts and being within 3 km of a golf course. Some sources mention a game room and a shared lounge/TV area. Connecting rooms may also be available.
However, it is critical to provide an objective and thorough overview by directly addressing the severe and consistent negative feedback from recent customer reviews. The overwhelming sentiment from a significant portion of recent guests depicts an extremely problematic and disappointing experience. Numerous reviews mention a pervasive and "stanky" or "horrible" smell throughout the hotel, including in the lobby and rooms, with suggestions that air fresheners are used to mask it. Cleanliness is a major and recurring concern, with reports of "dirty blankets," "dirty sheets" that "look like they’ve been on there for a year and never been changed," "sticky bathroom floor," and "bugs in the shower as well as under the mattress." Allegations of "filthy" conditions, "roaches and bedbugs" are also present, leading some guests to state they were "forced to sleep in my car" and are "still waiting on a refund."
Beyond cleanliness, there are significant complaints regarding the availability and functionality of advertised amenities. Guests frequently report that the "pool and the jacuzzi" were unavailable or broken, and that there was "no breakfast, continental or otherwise like was advertised." The fitness room was also cited as closed or non-existent. Technical issues such as non-working TVs and non-existent or unreliable Wi-Fi are also common complaints. Service issues are prominent, with reports of front desk staff being "incredibly rude," "unhelpful and unfriendly," and "denying" double charges. Challenges with accessibility requests (e.g., an accessible room not being provided) are also mentioned. Furthermore, serious safety concerns have been raised, including stepping in "glass from the window of the car that was parked there before me," finding a "dirty needle just laying there" near bushes, and observations of "cops outside along with sketchy people in the parking lot," leading to a feeling of insecurity. Instances of difficulty obtaining refunds for unsatisfactory stays are also repeatedly highlighted.
Given the consistently negative and concerning nature of these reviews, any promotional information for Baymont by Wyndham Youngstown must be viewed with extreme caution. While it is a part of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts portfolio and would typically participate in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program, offering points and member benefits, the actual guest experiences severely undermine any perceived value from such programs. Standard promotions for budget hotels, such as competitive rates or special discounts, would typically apply. However, the issues raised regarding false advertising of amenities, pervasive cleanliness problems, safety concerns, and unhelpful staff would likely overshadow any price advantage. Prospective guests are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and consider these severe warnings from past guests. It would be prudent to thoroughly investigate current conditions, verify the availability and functionality of specific amenities directly with the hotel management, or seek alternative accommodations in the area. The substantial disparity between advertised features and reported reality suggests that this property may not meet basic expectations for a safe, clean, or comfortable stay.

May 19, 2025 · Gina DonnellyWhere do I start lol, got out of the car and stepped in the glass from the window of the car that was parked there before me, had to pull my service dog away from the bushes because there was a dirty needle just laying there. Front desk told me I had to leave because they wouldn’t honor my service dog status. Front desk manager ended up calling somebody and they told him to give me the room anyway after 20 minutes with the guy. I had to hold my breath in the elevator because I thought I was gonna throw up at smelt so bad .Got in the room and did gag because the smell in there was absolutely horrible. Tried to turn the TV on guess what it didn’t work went to the front desk They said they had no other rooms available although my car was the only one in the whole parking lot. The sheets look like they’ve been on there for a year and never been changed. If I could take back that one star rating, I would.. I’ve stayed in some pretty rough places and that blows all of them out of the water.
May 14, 2025 · Ron MartinkoThis hotel is absolutely disgusting, they had some of the worst customer service I have EVER experienced. They told me the pool would be open upon my booking, which when I checked in they informed me was shut down. Which was nonsense I explained to them I was doing the pool for my son’s birthday, and that was why I chose this place. THEN when I saw the room it was filthy like a place you step into and have MRSA. Been fighting to get a refunded but the manager is I guess never there? Been fighting a month! Save the money you’d spend to get an exterminator (after staying here) and book ANYWHERE else.
Dec 23, 2024 · Candice LatshawI’ve stayed at this property many times over the years and it has never been worse. They don’t keep the pool open and they don’t serve breakfast. There was white stains all over the carpet in the rooms, the elevators looked like a dumpster and the staff didn’t care at all. This place is a health code violation.
Dec 17, 2024 · Aaron BeasleyFeet are dirty after walking around on the carpet. NO breakfast, NO open pool, NO open gym, total scam. Advertising all these amenities but everything is closed or locked up. Staff isn't friendly. Better off at a cheap motel down the road where you at least know what you're paying for.
