I don’t typically write reviews when things don’t go my way, but I do feel it's important to share this experience—especially as someone who travels often and generally has great stays. Unfortunately, this was not one of those experiences. I didn’t feel safe at this location, which is why we decided not to stay after arriving. We pulled into the parking lot and almost immediately chose to leave and stay in a nearby town instead. I called the hotel right away to let them know we wouldn’t be staying. While I understand their 24-hour cancellation policy, I was disappointed that they wouldn’t offer any flexibility or refund. On top of that, my card was charged twice for the stay. After noticing the double charge on my statement, I had to call back and get it corrected. I requested a receipt, which was sent—but it was incorrect. I’m still waiting on a corrected version. To add to the frustration, I didn’t receive my Hilton Honors points for the stay, which means I was essentially penalized for trying to do the right thing by communicating instead of just being a no-show. In short: if the location works for you and everything goes smoothly, maybe you’ll have a great experience. But if anything goes off-script, I found the customer service to be unhelpful and the overall handling disappointing. If you're just passing through and not committed to this specific hotel, I’d recommend considering other options in the area.
For travelers exploring accommodation options via "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Youngstown, Ohio area, the Hampton Inn Youngstown-North is a prominent Hilton-branded hotel located at 4400 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, OH 44505, USA. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the hotel's environment, services, features, and promotional aspects, drawing from available information and varied customer feedback.
The Hampton Inn Youngstown-North is situated on Belmont Avenue, placing it in the northern part of Youngstown. Its location is described as being "off I-80" and "just 14 minutes from downtown," offering convenient access for travelers. It's noted to be near various dining options, including "good (not fast food) restaurants: soul food, Mexican, American pub, and an excellent Nepalese/Indian restaurant called Mantra." This suggests a diverse culinary scene readily available to guests. Points of interest like the Butler Institute of American Art and the Arms Family Museum of Local History are within five miles, while Youngstown State University is about 10 minutes away. The National Packard Museum is also accessible, approximately 17 miles from the hotel. Free self-parking is available on-site, adding to guest convenience.
However, it is important to address a significant concern raised by a guest regarding the perceived safety of the location. One traveler stated, "I didn’t feel safe at this location, which is why we decided not to stay after arriving. We pulled into the parking lot and almost immediately chose to leave and stay in a nearby town instead." This feedback, while a single experience, highlights a potential consideration for prospective guests, especially those sensitive to neighborhood perceptions. Conversely, other reviews praise the "great location" and report feeling secure.
As a Hampton Inn, this hotel typically offers a consistent range of services. A key amenity is the complimentary hot breakfast buffet, which includes items like fresh-baked waffles, oatmeal, eggs, and more, available daily. While one general review mentioned breakfast was not "the norm for most hotels lately," another specific review for this location indicated it was "always good and well stocked" and had "so much variety," including "omelet to waffles ham bagels fresh fruit ect." This suggests that the breakfast offering is generally well-regarded despite some differing expectations.
The hotel provides free in-room WiFi and high-speed internet access in public areas, ensuring connectivity for all guests. Recreational facilities include an indoor pool and a fitness center, allowing guests to maintain their routines or relax. The pool is heated. For business needs, there is a 24-hour business center and a meeting room with 624 sq. ft. of event space, capable of holding up to 25 people. Other conveniences include a 24-hour front desk, express check-in and check-out, luggage storage, a front-desk safe, and vending machines. The staff is frequently praised, with guests noting the "gentleman at the front desk quickly checked us in" and generally describing staff as "friendly" and "helpful." The hotel is also pet-friendly, allowing two pets (dogs or cats) up to 75 lbs with a non-refundable fee ($75 for 1-4 nights, $125 for 5+ nights). A dedicated "dog walking area was stocked with waste bags," indicating attention to the needs of pet owners.
The Hampton Inn Youngstown-North, which was last renovated in 2020, offers 66 "modern" rooms designed for comfort. Each room includes features such as 32-inch LCD TVs with cable channels, refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, and in-room safes. The linens are often described as "immaculate." Rooms are air-conditioned, and connecting rooms are available upon request. For families, free cribs/infant beds are provided. The presence of a sofa bed in some rooms offers additional sleeping capacity. While some guests found rooms "not quite as nice as expected" or mentioned "excessively squishy beds" or "short toilets" in general, other reviews for this specific location highlight rooms as "clean and comfortable with modern touches" and "bright and clean."
However, specific maintenance issues have been noted. One guest reported a "broken AC that made excessive noise" in their first room and, in the second, a "loud rambling sound for nearly seven minutes throughout the day and night" when the wall PTAC (packaged terminal air conditioner) came on for heat. This points to potential inconsistencies in the condition of in-room climate control systems. Another concerning observation was "The coffee creamer remained in the hall exit from Friday through Monday morning," indicating possible lapses in the cleaning of common areas. While the hotel aims for high standards, these specific feedback points suggest that guest experiences with room condition and public area upkeep can vary.
The Hampton Inn Youngstown-North primarily promotes itself through the reliable reputation of the Hilton brand and its consistent Hampton Inn amenities. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me," the offering of a complimentary hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, an indoor pool, and a pet-friendly policy are strong attractive features. The hotel's convenient location for accessing various dining options and local attractions is also a key selling point.
Guests can benefit from being a Hilton Honors member, earning points and potentially receiving benefits such as Digital Check-In and Digital Key access. While specific seasonal promotions are not detailed, potential guests are encouraged to check the official Hilton website or contact the hotel directly at (330) 759-9555 or +1 330-759-9555 to inquire about current rates, special offers, and availability, especially when booking. It is advisable for prospective guests to consider the mixed reviews. While many aspects are praised, the specific concerns about perceived safety of the location, potential for noise from climate control units, and occasional lapses in common area cleanliness should be noted. For those prioritizing a well-known brand with standard amenities and a good location near dining, and who are comfortable with the varied feedback, the Hampton Inn Youngstown-North remains a viable option in Youngstown.

May 19, 2025 · Birdie HolleyI stopped with my dog, without a reservation and the gentleman at the front desk quickly checked us in. The room was modern and the linens were immaculate. The dog walking area was stocked with waste bags and it appeared most people had cleaned up after their dogs. It has a great location, near a lot of good (not fast food) restaurants: soul food, Mexican, American pub, and an excellent Nepalese/Indian restaurant called Mantra.
Mar 31, 2025 · Patricia CarterCheck staff was friendly but check out staff not so much. The room was NOT clean, literally a worm on the floor by the bed, spider in the bathroom, Spiderwebs in the corner of the room and the shower tub was dirty. Would not recommend. And, the tv had no signal.
May 08, 2025 · Tammy RobertsonStopped for a night on a road trip. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and in great shape. The bed was comfortable, and we had a great night's sleep. While it seemed like there were not many guests staying at the time we were there, it was very quiet, and we never heard a sound. The breakfast they offer was tasty and gives you several options to get your day started.
Jan 12, 2025 · Michael RappThis is by far the best hotel in Youngstown, and I have stayed in various locations from Boardman, Austintown and in the North. The room cleanliness is very good. But the exceptional difference is the bathroom cleanliness and water pressure. At the end of the day, you come back to the hotel room needing a soothing shower in a clean setup and good water pressure. And this hotel has it all. You will never be disappointed. I wish I had not wasted my money on other hotels in the area.
