Good location. I stayed 5 times consecutively at this location and every time I raised the same concerns with the hotel staff but no one addressed them. Finally I gave up on it, and selected Hampton Inn for my stay this time (by far the best). Here are the reasons I wasn't impressed with Comfort Inn: Front Desk: not very friendly at all. Most of the time they disappear and you are just standing there waiting. Rooms: Decent level of cleanliness; but they are not "prepared" for you; many times I go back to the front desk and ask for tissue papers or towels as room would be missing those. TV remotes don't work. Bathroom: moldy shower tubs, VERY LOW water pressure in sink and bath. You literally have to stand under the drip-drip shower head. This issue is universal for all rooms (I stayed five times this year and tried). Breakfast: Poor quality of fresh fruits; meat spatula mixed with vegetables; limited choices. Gym: you always have to find the front desk to open the door for you. PLEASE spend a few dollars per night more, and stay at Hampton Inn across the street. You won't be disappointed.

Located at 201 Perni Ln, Youngstown, OH 44505, USA, this hotel is part of the Choice Hotels brand, aiming to provide spacious accommodations and convenient amenities. The environment of Comfort Suites Youngstown North is generally considered convenient due to its location just off US Interstate 80, midway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. This makes it an accessible stop for travelers. It is situated in a relatively central part of Youngstown, with close proximity to attractions such as Youngstown State University, the Butler Institute of American Art, and the Covelli Centre. The hotel is also described as being near restaurants and gas stations, adding to its convenience. From a cleanliness perspective, reviews are mixed. While some guests have praised the "decent level of cleanliness" and called the property "very cleanly," others have reported issues with moldy shower tubs. The building itself was built in 2015, suggesting a relatively modern structure. It features an indoor pool and a fitness center, contributing to a comfortable and engaging environment for guests. The lobby includes a fireplace, aiming to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
In terms of services, Comfort Suites Youngstown North advertises a range of amenities to enhance a guest's stay. A significant offering is the complimentary daily hot breakfast, which typically includes options like eggs, cereal, fruit, and more. However, customer feedback on breakfast quality varies, with one guest noting "poor quality of fresh fruits" and "limited choices," and another observing that meat spatulas were mixed with vegetables. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, a crucial service for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel also provides free self-parking and RV/bus/truck parking. Customer interaction with the front desk has received mixed reviews. While some guests like "Rhonda" were highlighted for being "very welcoming, friendly, professional, and efficient," others reported that the front desk staff was "not very friendly at all" and would frequently "disappear," leaving guests waiting. The fitness center requires guests to find the front desk to open the door, which can be an inconvenience. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, a business center, meeting facilities (one meeting room of 384 sq ft), and laundry facilities. It's important to note that while service animals are welcome, the hotel generally does not allow other pets.
The features of the rooms at Comfort Suites Youngstown North are designed as spacious suites. Each of the 86 rooms is air-conditioned and includes a separate sitting area, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a coffee machine, and a refrigerator and microwave. Guests have generally appreciated the "spacious room" and the convenience of in-room amenities. However, issues regarding room preparation have been raised, with one guest repeatedly finding rooms missing essential items like tissue paper or towels. TV remotes were also reported as non-functional by a frequent guest. A recurring and significant concern across multiple stays for one reviewer was "VERY LOW water pressure in sink and bath," with the shower described as a "drip-drip shower head" and moldy shower tubs. While the hotel states "Hygiene Plus" and daily disinfection in all rooms and common areas, these specific room-level issues suggest inconsistencies in maintenance. The beds are described as "fairly comfy" by some, while others have not explicitly commented on them. The hotel offers various suite configurations, including King Suites with sofa beds and Two Queen Suites, catering to different group sizes. Accessible room options are also available.
From a promotional perspective, Comfort Suites Youngstown North, as part of the Choice Hotels brand, participates in the Choice Privileges Rewards program. This loyalty program allows guests to earn and redeem points for stays, providing an incentive for repeat visits. The hotel's promotional materials highlight its convenient location off I-80, making it an ideal stop between major cities. The free hot breakfast, free WiFi, and indoor heated pool are consistently emphasized as key amenities. The hotel's proximity to local attractions such as Youngstown State University, the Covelli Centre, and the Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course also serve as promotional points, attracting both leisure and business travelers. While the hotel often promotes its amenities and convenient location, the mixed bag of recent customer reviews, particularly concerning service consistency, room maintenance issues (like water pressure and mold), and breakfast quality, could impact its overall appeal. Potential guests are advised to consider these varying experiences and, if possible, confirm specific amenities and services directly with the hotel before booking, especially if certain features like strong water pressure or a full hot breakfast are critical to their stay. The hotel has received awards like "Outstanding Rating" from Travelocity.com and "Superb Rating" from Hotels.com, indicating that many guests have had positive experiences despite the noted concerns.

Apr 28, 2025 · K JaRhonda checked us in. She was very welcoming, friendly, professional, and efficient. It was a streamline/smooth check in process. Which as we are on the road can really appreciate that. Our goal at that time was rest. My company will stay at this location again when in the area. Thank you Rhonda for ensuring we had a comfortable stay. Patricia Harris, RHIT P Brown & Daughters LLC
May 07, 2025 · PATRICIA HARRISDO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN. This is NOT a family friendly hotel. Start off at the beginning: Checked in hotel, was with myself and my 4 children. Was given our room on the 3rd floor, took all of our things went up there and the room had not been cleaned, bedding everywhere garbage everywhere disgusting. Went downstairs to tell them, said housekeeping/maintenance gone for the day and would see what they could do to try get us in a spare reserve room because they were fully booked. (Mind you, I had this room booked for 6 months) Gave us another room, this room was still not cleaned properly, had food all over the floor that did not belong to us and crumbs in the sheets... but we had no choice but to stay because it was the only room left. Onto the second evening, my 2 YEAR OLD daughter had got sick and threw up--- ONE time on the bed. I went down and got new bedding stripped the bed and SCRUBBED everything with soap and water at 11pm. (Probably better than they ever clean them) Gathered everything I used to clean it and put it in one central area in the bathtub. They proceeded to then charge me $300 on top of my stay for a "biohazard" fee, for my 2 year old puking THAT I cleaned up. There was no vomit anywhere and the room did not smell of it, except on ONE towel and ONE sheet. To me that does NOT warrant $300. When I called the front desk to inquire, I was talked down to like a piece of trash, general manager REFUSES to speak to me and the female manager on duty was extremely rude to me and told me to "do whatever the hell I wanted" and hung up on me when I mentioned contacting corporate. Unprofessional, disgusting, no security at this place, ONE female working at the front desk all night long- unsafe and not family friendly at all. I did even offer to let them take the $150 deposit for any "inconvenience" my 2 year old cause and they won't return any of it. I contacted corporate and they agreed that this is absurd but the General Manager David Allen has to be the one to reconcile this and he refuses to do so nor contact me regarding any of this. Thankfully corporate is going to reconcile and credit my choice account for MY inconvenience. Do better David, this is disgusting and horrible. We book 30 rooms at this hotel EVERY SINGLE YEAR for our dance studio for competition which is thousands of dollars, after speaking with my studio owner Cheryl we will NO LONGER be using this hotel. Good riddance.
Mar 12, 2025 · Amanda ZahmFront desk clerk was rude didn't greet me at all. Room was nice we had a good visit. But was charged $150 heavy cleaning fee when all that was left in the room was a bag by the trash can. Asked what heavy cleaning was needed they couldn't explain. Will never stay here again.
Feb 16, 2025 · LaToya SmithI'm giving one star bc first off the entire weekend the elevator did not work. We had issues with room keys so this meant walking 3 flights of steps to get new key cards 3 times. My biggest complaint though is they charged $150 bc my 2 year old spilled ice cream on the bedding(which is white) and they claimed it as damaged. I asked if food was forbidden in the rooms, they said no. So I guess if you spill or make a mess on the bed expect the incidental charge to go through. I have never had an issue like this before and we travel a ton!!
