City Rooms is a great option for a place to stay right in the Theater District. I had a basic queen room. Not a big room but for one person, it was great. Very clean, comfy bed. There was even a refrigerator and safe in the room. Staff on desk 24 hours - all very pleasant. There wasn't much noise but even so, they had earplugs in the room - I didn't bother and I'm a light sleeper. Coffee, tea & hot chocolate available in the common room. No elevator though so I got in some exercise going to 5th (top) floor but I didn't mind. I highly recommend this hotel.
Looking for a place to stay in the Theater District near Times Square? City Rooms NYC Times Square, located at 765 8th Ave, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category. Recent guest reviews present contrasting experiences, with some praising its convenience and cleanliness, while others report a decline in room size and cleanliness. Travelers from Taiwan should consider both perspectives when making their decision.
One guest found City Rooms to be a "great option" for a stay right in the Theater District. They stayed in a basic queen room, which they acknowledged wasn't large but was suitable for one person. They highlighted the room as "very clean" with a "comfy bed," and appreciated the inclusion of a refrigerator and safe. The 24-hour staff at the front desk were described as "very pleasant." This guest also noted that there wasn't much noise, and while earplugs were provided, they didn't feel the need to use them, despite being a light sleeper. The availability of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in a common room was also a plus. A point to note is that there is no elevator, and this guest was on the 5th floor, which they considered a bit of exercise but didn't mind, ultimately highly recommending the hotel.
However, another guest's experience was "definitely not near as good" as their first visit 1.5 years prior. They observed that the rooms seemed to have been renovated and made smaller, even though they had reserved the same room type both times. A significant concern was a decline in cleanliness, with the guest reporting finding hairs on the sheets each night, makeup stains on the cover, and even a blood stain on the fitted sheet. They expressed being "not at all impressed" with the hotel's progress. The only positive aspects they mentioned were the addition of a new lounge, the hotel's location, and the continued friendliness of the staff.
The provided reviews give limited information about other services or features such as on-site dining or business facilities. The first review mentions a common room with hot beverages, and the second review notes the addition of a new lounge. The lack of an elevator is explicitly mentioned.

In conclusion, City Rooms NYC Times Square offers a convenient location in the Theater District and friendly staff. However, potential guests from Taiwan should be aware of recent feedback suggesting that some rooms may be small, and there are concerns about declining cleanliness. The lack of an elevator might also be a consideration for some travelers. Weighing these factors along with the positive aspects of location and staff is advisable when considering this hotel.

Oct 16, 2019 · Nancy WinterThis experience was definitely not near as good as my 1st. It seems they have renovated rooms and made them smaller (we reserved the same room type both times and this time the room was a lot smaller) and the cleanliness has gone way down. We found hairs on our sheets each night, make up stains on the cover and even a blood stain on the fitted sheet. Not at all impressed with the progress the hotel has made since our last 1.5 years ago. The only saving grace is the new lounge they added, location, and the friendly staff.
Dec 22, 2019 · Sutton RowleyRooms are small but beds are very big and supercomfortable. There is some noise, so they leave earplugs. Even I am a light sleeper I did not need it. I could not sleep better. In basement there is a room with hot coffe, (delicious, by the way), some teas, water and chocolate. Location is very convenient. Room service did a great job. Staff is very friendly. We had a problem with our airport transfer and he helped us to solve it. I highly recommend it.
Oct 13, 2020 · Jordi SimonManagement did not have the courtesy to update any guests that they are still under construction; dirt and debris everywhere. Front desk did not mention anything about being under construction and was being rude on the radio calling for staff to help with our luggage. She kept rolling her eyes and yelling into the radio as no one answered. We offered to just carry our luggage as it was better than waiting 10 minute listening to her yell unprofessionally in the radio. She refused and yelled at the staff when he came:“Do you know how to even use one of these?!”1st red flag 2-They were laying carpet with glue and a terrible epoxy smell throughout the building. The smell was so bad in our room that we need to leave our hotel room we opened the window to air out. As we were going down the stairs (no elevator) we had to wait 30minutes for the workers to lay the foul toxic glue on the ground, workers had respirators and we had nothing. Waited for them to finish carpet on the stairs for us to leave the hotel 3-I left an item behind in the locked security box, realizing when I was already on the plane. I emailed staff and they confirmed they found my item and for me to arrange for someone to pick it up. I stated I was from LA and asked if possible to ship to me. They said no, so I arranged for a friend to pick up the item for me, then they say they make a mistake and they don't have my item. Seems very dishonest to me when I have several email exchanges with them that confirms that have my item.
Dec 01, 2017 · Alexander TanIt was a pleasant stay, excellent location, reasonable price, nice staffs, free tea and coffee in the basement. Tho I didn't know that there was no elevator, luckily I was only staying in the second floor. LOL It wasn't as clean as people said as I noticed my bed was made but the floor wasn't vacuumed nor cleaned. But it was still a nice stay. Would recommend!
