There is great potential...Pros - conveniently located, rooms appointed with creative storage for a small space, most affordable I could find in the area, clean, styled nicely Cons - no ice machine, some advertised amenities were NOT available, including the TV (out of operation for weeks, we were told), individually temperature-controlled rooms (not true - it was too hot and we had no way of adjusting the temp). The only lighting is the bright ceiling lights, as the bedside lights were missing/removed, leaving, only an on/off switch that did nothing. The phone at the front desk was apparently on silent, so we had to hoof down and up 5 flights of stairs to speak to an employee because no one answered the phone. The fifth floor walkup was okay, because I had read reviews indicating there was no elevator, but it should be made clear in any advertising of the hotel. I would consider another stay there again, knowing that the management/ownership recently changed, giving the belief that things will continue to improve.
Looking for accommodation in Midtown West near the Theater District? THE HOME HOTEL POWERED BY LUXURBAN, located at 765 8th Ave, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category. Recent guest reviews present a mix of potential and current drawbacks, alongside high praise for tranquility and service. Travelers from Taiwan should consider these varying perspectives.
One guest saw "great potential" in THE HOME HOTEL. They appreciated its convenient location and the creative storage solutions in the rooms, which they found clean and nicely styled, and noted it as the most affordable option they could find in the area. However, they listed several cons: the absence of an ice machine, unavailability of some advertised amenities including the TV (which had been out of service for weeks), and the inaccurate claim of individually temperature-controlled rooms (their room was too hot with no way to adjust the temperature). They also mentioned that the only lighting was from bright ceiling lights, as bedside lights were missing, leaving non-functional switches. Furthermore, the front desk phone appeared to be on silent, requiring a five-flight walk to communicate with staff, as there is no elevator (though this was mentioned in some reviews). Despite these issues, this guest would consider staying again, hopeful that recent management changes would lead to improvements.
In stark contrast, another guest described their stay as a "sublime experience." They lauded the hotel's ability to balance a central location with a sense of tranquility, creating a "peaceful oasis in the midst of the city." They gave special mention to the "sleek and modern haven of luxury" that was the bathroom, highlighting a delightful shower, impeccable attention to detail, fluffy towels, and premium toiletries. A key aspect for this guest was the hotel's "commitment to silence," with no external noise disturbing their "restful night's sleep." They also found the staff to be courteous and attentive, enhancing their overall experience and leading to a high recommendation.

On the other hand, the hotel has also been praised for its tranquility, excellent bathrooms, and attentive service. Dec 02, 2023 · Tina Schmidt (Mom's Quiet Time)My stay was a sublime experience. The hotel effortlessly balances central location with tranquility, offering a peaceful oasis in the midst of the city. The bathroom deserves special mention - a sleek and modern haven of luxury. The shower was a delight, and the attention to detail was impeccable. Fluffy towels and premium toiletries added a touch of indulgence. What truly set The Home apart was its commitment to silence. Not a hint of external noise disturbed my stay, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The staff was courteous and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. In summary, highly recommended!
Nov 12, 2023 · Louise FelixThis hotel is great. Not in Chinatown, by the way, but a cool mural type art on the wall. The location is great. Yes, there is noise, but I have been to NYC many times, and only a couple of hotels didn't have much noise. I also paid 300-400 a night. When we arrived at 2 am. due to flight delays, the gentleman at the desk was awesome, super nice. Rooms are clean, shower is hot, tvs didn't work but I dont come to the city to watch TV. Would stay at this hotel again and again. Oh, there is no elevator. Just be prepared but not the end of the world.
Dec 14, 2023 · Daniel FitchBefore you book at this hotel or any by LuxUrban carefully consider the health and wellbeing of yourself and other guests as the this hotel chain will not. We booked five nights in NYC over the thanksgiving weekend. Because of the limited availability, the only rooms offered were non-refundable. Not feeling comfortable with this, I called the hotel and was told that in the case of a verifiable emergency, a refund would be provided. Two days before our trip our party got sick with Covid 19 which is verified. In an effort to protect others and prevent spreading the virus, we reached out to the hotel to cancel or change our reservation. First, no one ever answers and the phone always goes directly to voicemail. Someone finally responded via text wishing us a speedy recovery but denying any type of credit or refund. When asked if they preferred guests to arrive with Covid, no response was offered. From a growing brand I am disappointed in such poor service and communication of policy. I acknowledge that I should have gotten the emergency refund in writing but I am genuinely concerned that so little consideration is given to the health of all guests and staff. We will never book with you again and will ensure that we let others know of the abhorrent policies, communication, and regard.
Nov 23, 2023 · Tina KUnhealthy and unsafe. I booked this hotel due to a miscommunication and it ended up being a mistake in more ways than one. I could write several paragraphs about the lack of soundproofing, faulty and insufficient electrical outlets, broken climate controls, busted tv service, and the room’s basic lack of functionality for a weekend in the city. But I will let these pictures of the enormous cockroach climbing around the bathroom do the work for me. Avoid this hotel.
