You get what you pay for. If you want an inexpensive room, close to Times Square and the Theater District, this is the place. The room was clean and well taken care of. We had a nice, comfy king size bed but no microwave or fridge in our room. The staff was very friendly. The building is old. The lobby needs some new furniture and although it is a convenient place to sit, it is not very large and the furniture is worn. The elevators are the worst. They will take a long time to arrive. Once, it randomly decided to stop at every floor on the way down from the 15th floor even though no people were waiting to get on. Overall I feel that this was a place I would consider staying again because of the location and price. If they increased the price, I would most likely choose another place to stay.
Nestled in the heart of New York City, The Gallivant Times Square offers an ideal blend of affordability, convenience, and comfort for travelers seeking a home away from home. Situated at 234 W 48th St, this hotel is just a stone's throw away from the vibrant Theater District and the bustling Times Square, making it an excellent choice for both leisure and business visitors.
The Gallivant Times Square provides a range of amenities designed to cater to your every need. While the rooms are compact, they are surprisingly spacious compared to other accommodations in the city. Each room is kept clean and well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable stay. The absence of microwaves or fridges might be a minor inconvenience for some, but many guests appreciate the simplicity and focus on what truly matters: a good night's sleep.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its central location. You're just steps away from major subway lines, making exploring the city a breeze. Whether you're catching a Broadway show or strolling through Times Square, the hotel's prime location puts all the action within easy reach.
Guest feedback highlights both the strengths and areas for improvement. Many appreciate the fast access to public transport, the proximity to major attractions, and the spacious rooms. However, some have noted issues with slow elevators, advising guests to request lower-floor rooms if possible. Additionally, a few guests mentioned finding pests in their room, though this was an isolated incident.
If you're planning a visit to New York City, The Gallivant Times Square is worth considering. Its central location and reasonable prices make it an attractive option for travelers looking to maximize their experience without breaking the bank.

Mar 05, 2025 · Jeff StokerI stayed there for 3 nights. 1. Lift takes ages to come down, so make sure you ask for a room in the lower floors so you can take the stairs. 2. First day I found a cockroach in the room. That was stressful but hey, is NYC and at least it wasn't a rat. The other 2 days it was very clean 3. Location is perfect if you want to be near theatre district/times square and near several subway lines. 4. Rooms are way much more spacious than other hotels I've stayed in NYC 5. They charge you 6 USD to leave your luggage with the concierge. 6. People at the front desk were very friendly
Mar 19, 2025 · Leticia RodríguezIn our initial room, the heat was not working and there was a portable space heater that was brought, def did not help since it was 20 degrees outside and we didn't pay for a room with no heat. They switched us rooms and upgraded to a bigger room, which was nice. You get what you pay for, but it wasnt that bad as all the reviews I read. The location is amazing, everything was so close and times square is at your door step.
Mar 10, 2025 · FrosinaRooms are not bad and bed was comfortable. The heater doesn't work in the room...apparently they turn off the heat to the building when it's over 50 F. The elevators take forever. The location is really good and close to everything. Staff was helpful whenever I needed anything. For the price it's worth it.
Mar 21, 2025 · sheenae13Needs to be pretty bad for me to take the time to leave a review. Just saying. We got in town early and went right to the hotel. They said we could check in but they have a $50 early check in fee. Wasn't crazy about that but whatever. But we get into our room and it was freezing. Noticed the heater wasn't plugged in so I did that, but no power. Checked the other outlets in the room for the additional space heater that was there, as well as for phone chargers, and there wasn't power to anything in the room. Just the overhead lights. Changed rooms. Went to room #2 and while it had power, the bed wasn't the right size. Changed rooms again. Went to room three and it was an UNHOLY level kind of hot. But we had power and there was a wall unit air conditioner, so we turned the heat off, AC on, and thought that would be sufficient. Wasn't great but we dealt with it. Would have been a nice offer from the hotel to offer back that early check in fee for the hassle. Especially with one of the two elevators not working. Took some time for all the back and forth. Our traveling partners also changed rooms multiple times for heat issues and no hot water. They get two stars from me because at least the bed was comfortable, and location was nearby the things we wanted to do. We'll be staying in a different hotel on our next NY trip though.
