Serious Security Concerns - Not Worth the Price My recent stay ended with violence that could have been prevented with basic security measures. A disruptive guest was allowed to continue threatening staff and insulting employees despite clear warning signs. The situation escalated until this individual physically attacked another guest, breaking his nose. When I intervened to help, I was also assaulted - I was punched in the face multiple times and sustained a possible concussion. The most concerning part was that hotel staff had ample opportunity to address the situation before it turned violent. There was no security personnel present, and staff seemed unprepared or unwilling to handle a disruptive guest. For a property charging these rates, the lack of basic safety protocols is unacceptable. If you're considering staying here, factor in that your safety might be compromised if another guest becomes aggressive. The physical and emotional trauma we experienced definitely wasn't worth saving a few dollars on accommodation. There are similarly priced options nearby with better security measures in place. On the positive side, the location is convenient for travel and rooms are clean, but these benefits are meaningless when guests' physical safety isn't protected.
For local users in and around Newark, New Jersey, specifically those seeking accommodation within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category with proximity to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), the Comfort Inn & Suites Newark Liberty International Airport is an option that may appear in their searches. Located at 98 Frelinghuysen Ave, Newark, NJ 07114, USA, and reachable by phone at (973) 878-9939, this hotel offers convenient access for travelers. To provide an objective introduction, it is crucial to present a balanced view, incorporating both the positive attributes and the serious concerns raised by real customer experiences.
The environment of the Comfort Inn & Suites Newark Liberty International Airport is primarily characterized by its strategic location. Its address on Frelinghuysen Ave places it very close to Newark Liberty International Airport, making it a highly convenient choice for air travelers needing an overnight stay before or after flights. The hotel's surroundings would typically be industrial or commercial, given its airport proximity. While one review explicitly praises the "peace and quiet this location has to offer," noting "no yelling or screaming in the halls or by neighbors," this positive aspect of the internal environment is starkly contrasted by a significant negative experience related to security, which profoundly impacts the perception of safety and tranquility within the hotel's immediate environment.
Regarding services, customer feedback presents a dichotomy. On one hand, there is a glowing review that describes the experience as "nothing short of incredible," highlighting exceptional staff. "Ashley, the manager, and her entire team were simply amazing!" and are credited with being "kind people." This suggests that, at times, the hotel provides friendly, attentive, and highly satisfactory customer service. This positive interaction with staff is a crucial element of a pleasant hotel stay. However, a profoundly negative review describes a complete breakdown in essential services related to guest safety and security. This review details a situation where "disruptive guest was allowed to continue threatening staff and insulting employees," escalating to physical assault on guests. The criticism here is severe: "hotel staff had ample opportunity to address the situation before it turned violent," with "no security personnel present, and staff seemed unprepared or unwilling to handle a disruptive guest." This directly contradicts the expectation of basic safety protocols that any hotel, regardless of price point, should offer.
The discrepancy in service perception is critical for potential guests. While some might encounter "amazing" and "kind" staff, others might face situations where fundamental safety and professional handling of disruptive guests are severely lacking. This raises questions about the consistency of service and the adequacy of training for security protocols.
The features of the Comfort Inn & Suites Newark Liberty International Airport also elicit mixed feedback. On the positive side, the "rooms are clean," which is a fundamental requirement for any accommodation and is explicitly praised by one reviewer. The "bed was so soft and comfortable," indicating a focus on guest comfort for sleep. The "food was great," suggesting that the hotel's dining options (likely a breakfast service, typical for a Comfort Inn) are well-received by some guests. These features contribute to a comfortable stay experience.
However, a significant feature-related issue highlighted is parking. One review states, "Parking is a bit tricky here. It’s not known upfront that you have to pay a separate company to park. That’s something that can change." This suggests a lack of transparency regarding parking costs and management, which can be an unexpected inconvenience and additional expense for travelers, especially those driving to or from the airport who rely on convenient parking.
The most concerning feature, or rather, the lack thereof, is adequate security and safety measures. The detailed account of a physical assault due to unchecked disruptive behavior, coupled with the absence of security personnel, points to a critical flaw in the hotel's protective features. For guests, the assurance of safety is paramount, and the incident described, resulting in injuries and trauma, indicates a severe deficiency in this area. This overrides any positive notes on cleanliness or comfort for those prioritizing personal safety.
From a promotional standpoint, Comfort Inn & Suites Newark Liberty International Airport would naturally highlight its "convenient location for travel" due to its proximity to EWR. The positive reviews would emphasize "amazing" staff, "clean rooms," "soft and comfortable" beds, and "great food," aiming to attract guests seeking a peaceful and enjoyable stay. The brand name, Comfort Inn & Suites, also carries an expectation of standard amenities and value. However, the promotional efforts face substantial challenges due to the severe negative feedback.
The warning from a guest to "factor in that your safety might be compromised if another guest becomes aggressive" and the statement that the "physical and emotional trauma we experienced definitely wasn't worth saving a few dollars on accommodation" are direct and powerful counter-promotions. The advice that "There are similarly priced options nearby with better security measures in place" also undermines any perceived value. These critical accounts regarding security and transparency about parking fees would significantly impact a local user's decision when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me." While some guests may have an "incredible" experience, the documented security concerns are a critical factor that must be considered by any potential traveler.

Apr 04, 2025 · Shanna RStayed here for the weekend. Was suppose to stay until Sunday but left Saturday night due to the fact that there were people yelling and playing music in the hallway all night long Which continuously woke my baby up. The bathroom was dirty had brown stuff on the toilet and the walls. Also in a location that is surrounded by barbed wire. We had to pay to park which was not told when we booked the hotel. But surprisingly the valet was the only good service we received. If you can, book any other hotel besides this one.
May 11, 2025 · MadisonMy family made a reservation at Comfort Inn through Booking.com; however, upon arrival, we discovered that our reservation had not gone through, despite our payment being processed. Paris at Comfort Inn kindly offered us a seating area so we could contact Booking.com and try to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, Booking.com was unhelpful and ended up canceling our reservation. Paris went above and beyond—she was incredibly accommodating and secured several rooms for my family at a discounted rate. The entire process took nearly two hours, and throughout it all, she was patient, professional, and supportive. A heartfelt thank you to Paris and the Comfort Inn team for their exceptional service.
Apr 23, 2025 · Zubeda MerchantThe shuttle to and from the airport was free and convenient with friendly drivers. We came because of an event in downtown Newark but were warned the neighborhood was bad and not to walk outside of the hotel so lots of Ubering was required. Not a bad breakfast by any means. Room was cleaned one out of the 4 nights we were there, and another day our towels were exchanged. Shower and bathroom were nice.
