Positioned as a prime choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, the Courtyard Newark Liberty International Airport offers a convenient lodging solution for those traveling to or from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Located at 600 US 1 & 9 South, Newark, NJ 07114, USA, this Marriott-branded hotel serves as a strategic base for both transient airport travelers and those looking to explore the greater Newark area, including easy access to New York City. The hotel can be reached via phone at (973) 643-8500 or mobile at +1 973-643-8500.
The hotel's environment is characterized by its airport proximity and a design typical of the Courtyard by Marriott brand, aiming for functional comfort. It houses 146 guest rooms and 12 suites. While some areas, particularly the interiors, may have undergone renovations, several recent reviews suggest that the hotel rooms can appear somewhat dated and run-down. The property is situated in a business district, contributing to its practical, rather than scenic, ambiance. It offers a 24-hour fitness center for guests to maintain their routines, and a lobby with a fireplace, providing a common area for relaxation. For dining, "The Bistro" on-site offers options for breakfast and dinner. The hotel is also pet-friendly, accommodating guests traveling with their animal companions, though additional fees may apply. The convenience to EWR is a significant draw, often highlighting its free 24-hour airport shuttle service as a primary benefit. Beyond the airport, its location offers relatively easy access to downtown Newark attractions such as the Prudential Center and New Jersey Performing Arts Center, as well as connections to Manhattan via public transport from the airport train station.
In terms of services, Courtyard Newark Liberty International Airport provides a range of amenities designed to facilitate a comfortable stay. A standout service is the complimentary 24-hour roundtrip airport shuttle, essential for travelers flying into or out of EWR. Guests can also enjoy free Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel, including in their rooms, which is crucial for both business and leisure connectivity. The on-site restaurant, The Bistro, serves cooked-to-order breakfast (for a surcharge) and dinner, along with Starbucks® coffee in the mornings and evening cocktails. For business travelers, the hotel offers a 24-hour business center and meeting rooms, with 1,195 square feet of conference space distributed across two event rooms, capable of accommodating smaller gatherings. Additional services include a 24-hour front desk, express check-in and check-out, laundry facilities, dry cleaning services, an ATM/banking service, and multilingual staff. Safety deposit boxes are available at the front desk. For guests with accessibility needs, the hotel provides accessible rooms with features such as roll-in showers, grab bars, and visual alarms, and offers wheelchair-accessible parking and an accessible airport shuttle.
The features of the Courtyard Newark Liberty International Airport's guest rooms typically include premium bedding, flat-panel TVs with cable and premium channels, coffee/tea makers, mini-refrigerators (often available upon request), and iron/ironing boards. Rooms are designed with climate control for individual comfort. The hotel also makes efforts towards sustainability, with features such as energy-saving switches, LED light bulbs, and a comprehensive recycling policy. Soundproofed windows are a crucial feature given its proximity to the airport, aiming to provide a quieter environment for guests. For guests traveling with infants, free cribs are available upon request. Some rooms may also feature connecting doors, which can be convenient for families or larger groups. The hotel also prides itself on having a dedicated staff, as often highlighted in positive reviews for their helpfulness and welcoming demeanor.
From a promotional perspective, Courtyard Newark Liberty International Airport leverages its Marriott branding, allowing guests to earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for their stays. The hotel frequently offers "Park and Fly" packages, which combine accommodation with long-term parking, a popular option for travelers embarking on extended trips from EWR. Guests can often find special rates for AAA/CAA members or through various online travel agencies. The hotel also promotes its convenient location not only for airport access but also for reaching destinations like Cape Liberty Cruise Port and major sports and entertainment venues in Newark. Offers may vary seasonally, with April typically noted as a low season potentially offering better rates, while July might see higher prices.
However, it is crucial to provide an objective introduction by incorporating feedback from real customers. Recent reviews indicate several areas where the hotel's performance may fall short of guest expectations. A significant concern raised is the dated and somewhat run-down condition of the property and its rooms, with reports of cigarette smoke smell on one side of the hotel and instances of rooms not being properly cleaned, including hair found in bathtubs. This suggests a potential inconsistency in housekeeping standards. Customer service has also been a point of contention for some guests, with descriptions of staff being unhelpful or appearing unconcerned, particularly in instances of billing errors. One detailed review recounts an experience with an additional $400 authorization on a credit card for incidentals, which was initially denied by the front desk and later attributed to a "system glitch" without an apology or satisfactory resolution. This highlights potential issues with billing accuracy and the hotel's handling of customer disputes. Furthermore, some guests have noted that the hotel can appear understaffed, potentially impacting service responsiveness. While the hotel offers amenities like a fitness center and The Bistro, the overall impression from some critical reviews is that the property could benefit from significant updates and a more consistent focus on customer satisfaction and attention to detail. Therefore, prospective guests should weigh these reported concerns against the convenience and standard Courtyard amenities when considering their stay.

Get directionsVery outdated and run down. One side smells like cigarette smoke. The initial room I was assigned smelled like smoke and was not properly cleaned. The bathtub had hair in it. The front desk graciously changed my room assignment. Once again, the bathtub was not thoroughly cleaned as there was hair there as well. We decided to clean the tub ourselves to ensure it was done correctly. I lost my vehicle key (some reason was not in the room) and the front desk staff looked at me as if I was speaking a foreign language when asked them if anyone turned in a vehicle key. Worst Marriott I have ever stayed in
May 15, 2025 · Jamelle AlexanderThe hotel rooms are very dated and the hotel is understaffed. Beware of billing errors! I did an early check in for an extra $50.00. I swiped my card and the hotek took an authorization for $380 to cover room, taxes and incidentals. The next morning I get a fraud alert from my credit card because the hotel has taken an additional $400.00 in incidentals! I called the front desk and they were absolutely unhelpful, even going so far as to say that I was mistaken and they didn’t take the additional amount. I then provided them with the two separate merchant authorization numbers. They then admitted that there might have been a system glitch or issue when doing an early check in. However no apology was ever issued due to the error. In fact they were very unhelpful and unconcerned which leads me to think that this is a regular occurrence. I am astounded by the lack of of concern for the customer when they have been overcharged by $400.00. I will not and would not recommend staying at this property! There are far better options in the area.
Mar 25, 2025 · Marcus LewisJust wanted to say the communication here absolutely sucks. I called in yesterday to check on my boyfriend’s reservation at this hotel because corporate sent him a email stating they called several times to make sure the payment authorization was received and completed but they received no answer. However Milly assisted us and insisted there was no email and that corporate never sent anything. First, while being on the phone, it seemed like she was rushing us off the phone. She would barely let him explain the situation or even get a few sentences out. Highly unprofessional. However, us being very worried about what was going to happen seeing that he is coming from Florida to Newark on a business trip. When he arrived another employee was able to assist him throughly and within a few minutes, everything was done perfectly. Turns out the authorization form was already sent and sitting in the fax machine :). I wonder how long that was sitting there for. For future reference, please inform your employees on different communication lines an authorization form can be sent. Thank you.
Apr 13, 2025 · Kianna ClarkePretty much your standard Courtyard hotel, about a 8 minute ride by shuttle to the airport. Shuttle runs 24 hours a day every 30 mins. Rooms were OK, had everything you needed. Service was nice. Nice and large lobby space to hang out if you wish. Price was not bad for the area.
Feb 25, 2025 · Kevin MThis is a great location and much cheaper than staying at the full-service Marriott that is on the airport property. We love the full service Marriott and this is the first time that we had stayed at the courtyard. It’s very convenient to the airport and they do have shuttles that leave on a Very regular basis to bring you to the terminals.
