Buffalo’s only 5 star hotel with a 1 star continental breakfast. The rooms are amazing and very high tech, however, the bed was very uncomfortable. My wife and I felt the bed was uneven. The next morning got even worse. We went down for the continental breakfast and there was no milk or spoons for the cereal, the pastries were hard, the granola bars they served were stale and expired, and the toaster for the bagels seemed as though it was on its last life as it took 10 minutes to barely toast a bagel. The staff at the hotel were mostly great. They were all very polite and helpful. Unfortunately the gentleman working the breakfast was not very personable and would go missing for long periods of time. It wasn’t all negative though hence the 3 stars. The showers in the rooms were amazing, the hot springs were a wonderful amenity, and the rooftop bar was a great attraction. Not sure if we would ever stay again though.
For local users seeking an unparalleled lodging experience in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the Curtiss Hotel stands as Buffalo's distinguished 5-star boutique hotel. Located at 210 Franklin St, Buffalo, NY 14202, USA, and readily accessible by phone at (716) 954-4900 or mobile at +1 716-954-4900, the Curtiss Hotel, an Ascend Hotel Collection member, promises a blend of historic grandeur, ultra-modern luxury, and unique amenities.
The Curtiss Hotel is nestled within the meticulously renovated historic Harlow C. Curtiss building, a landmark dating back to 1913. This transformation has preserved its ornate architecture while infusing it with contemporary sophistication, creating an environment that is both opulent and welcoming. The hotel's prime location in downtown Buffalo offers guests immediate access to the city's vibrant cultural and entertainment scene. It is within a short walking distance of key attractions such as Shea's Performing Arts Center (a 3-minute walk), the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center (0.3 km away), and numerous downtown restaurants, bars, and shops. Its proximity to public transportation, with Fountain Plaza Station (0.4 km away) and Lafayette Square Station (0.4 km away) just a few minutes away, makes exploring the wider city effortlessly convenient.
Beyond its urban surroundings, the Curtiss Hotel distinguishes itself with several unique on-site features that enhance its environment. The VUE Rooftop Lounge, open year-round, provides breathtaking panoramic views of downtown Buffalo, Lake Erie, and even the Canadian shoreline, offering a spectacular setting for cocktails and social gatherings, complete with fire pits and heated enclosed bar areas. Another standout feature is the "Urban Hot Springs," an oversized, mineral-infused hot tub heated to 102 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius), offering a year-round outdoor relaxation experience that feels like a tranquil oasis amidst the city buzz. While generally praised, one past guest noted some green algae-like buildup in the hot springs, suggesting a need for more consistent deep cleaning, though this did not significantly detract from their overall positive experience. The hotel also features a grand entrance and a stylish lobby, contributing to an overall sense of luxury from the moment guests arrive.
The service at the Curtiss Hotel is a consistent highlight for many guests. The staff are frequently described as "friendly and attentive," "polite and helpful," making guests feel welcome from check-in to check-out. The hotel operates a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance and information are always available.
A complimentary continental breakfast is offered daily from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM. While some reviews mention issues with the breakfast quality, such as lack of milk or spoons, hard pastries, stale granola bars, and a slow toaster, others still consider it a valuable inclusion. The hotel also hosts a free daily manager's reception, providing an opportunity for guests to socialize.
Other notable services include:
The Curtiss Hotel boasts 68 individually furnished and decorated ultra-luxurious, high-tech rooms spread across 8 levels. Each room is designed to provide a sophisticated and comfortable stay, featuring:

In conclusion, the Curtiss Hotel offers a genuinely luxurious and distinctive experience in downtown Buffalo. Its unique combination of historic elegance, high-tech amenities, an outdoor Urban Hot Springs, and a vibrant rooftop lounge makes it a compelling choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. While minor issues like breakfast consistency or hot springs maintenance have been noted, the overwhelming sentiment from guests highlights exceptional staff, clean and modern rooms, and a truly memorable stay. It is highly recommended for those seeking a premium and amenity-rich hotel experience in Buffalo.

Apr 12, 2025 · Matthew HarringtonRecently stayed overnight at the Curtis Hotel in Buffalo with my family while attending a Buffalo Bandits game and doing some cross-border shopping. The entire experience was excellent! The rooms were clean, modern, and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our stay, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The hot springs were a great way to relax after a busy day. While enjoyable, could definitely use a deep cleaning—there was some green algae-like buildup along the sides and near where the cover rolls out. That said, it didn’t take away too much from an otherwise great experience. We’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing stay in Buffalo
Apr 13, 2025 · Will HaaseEverything was wonderful at the hotel. We were greeted by friendly staff members and offered a complementary glass of champagne to kick off our stay! The room was spacious, my only complaint was the pillows, one felt like a bag of concrete, and the other wasn't filled enough so when laying down your head was basically on the mattress. We wandered down to the bar later on in the evening, one of the bartenders was friendly/upbeat, the other seemed miserable to be working, the drinks were ok. Didn't have a chance to make it to the spa or hot tub but plan to go back soon for another experience!
Mar 26, 2025 · Marcie SheaYou will have to pardon the long winded review. I recently did a "staycation" on a Friday at the Curtiss Hotel. It was nothing short of magnificent. I would like to start by mentioning the absolute crown jewel of the Curtiss Hotel. His name is David. Referring to him as the crown jewel of the Curtiss Hotel is as much an honor to him as it was an honor to have him serve us, as the Curtiss Hotel is simply the finest hotel you will lay your head in a 100 mile radius. That being said, if the other staff have gleaned any of his expertise you will be blown away. I cannot express to you what a pleasure it was to watch a true master execute his job with such precision and grace as David does. Continuing with the fine dining facilities of Chez Ami, I was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face on the management side of the house, Adam. I have had the pleasure of meeting Adam at another time dining restaurant, and was happy to see his talents were put to good use. The Hot springs are absolutely amazing 🤩, the rooms are very high tech, the valet service is prompt and efficient, the receptionists and bar staff should all be models, all incredibly beautiful and attentive. The Beef Tartare is the most splendid flavorful Beef Tartare I have ever laid a too on. The triple chocolate raspberry cake is a must. In the spa, if you are lucky enough you will get Nicole, she is the most amazing licensed massage therapist, and one of the most amazing people you can wish to meet. To whomever is reading this at the Curtiss, please make sure David and Nicole are looked after and don't go anywhere, while your food and location and drinks are second to none, the personal touch by these super stars is what will leave a lasting memory and beckon your customers back to spend money. They are the epitome of what a 5 star boutique hotel should be, they are the backbone of your establishment and their worth cannot be underestimated, nor can I properly quantify it due to the poverty of the English language. Thank you for hiring such amazing people. We will be back soon because of them specifically.
Apr 19, 2025 · Patrick FlesherWe had a business party tonight. We had great customer service. The first employee I truly interacted with was, Prayer. He was a person that looked out for our party and genuinely cared about us. He should be considered a strong asset to your business! Thank you for the great service Prayer!
