Rooms were fine, location was convenient to walk most anywhere downtown. Front desk was pleasant and easy to work with. We arrived late, after midnight, hoping to sleep in a little before travelling the next day. However, we were woken at 8/8:30 by the exceptionally loud housekeeping team outside the room. At 9, I asked them to quiet down. Again at 9:30. I called the front desk to no avail. If you need to sleep before another day of travel, take note it may not happen.

This hotel aims to cater to both business and leisure travelers looking to explore the heart of Buffalo.
Environment and Location:
The Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo Downtown boasts an excellent location directly on Lafayette Square, placing guests in the vibrant pulse of the city's historic and entertainment districts. Its proximity to Lafayette Square means guests are steps away from Buffalo City Hall and the Buffalo Public Library. The hotel is also within easy walking distance to major downtown attractions such as Shea's Performing Arts Center, Coca-Cola Field, and the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. For sports and concert enthusiasts, the KeyBank Center is easily accessible, often just a short walk or a quick ride on the nearby Metro Rail, which has a station across the street. The area surrounding the hotel is generally considered central and convenient for exploring the city's offerings, including numerous dining establishments within walking distance, such as Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Patina 250, Taki's Restaurant, and various pubs and breweries. However, some recent guest reviews describe the immediate outside area as "sketchy" or "creepy" even during the day, which suggests a varying perception of safety and appeal, depending on individual comfort levels and experiences. A significant point of concern for many guests is parking. The hotel does not offer free on-site parking. Guests are typically required to pay for valet parking or utilize off-site parking garages or lots, often located a few blocks away, which can add significant cost and inconvenience, especially with luggage or during late-night arrivals.

The Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo Downtown offers a range of services aimed at providing a comfortable stay. The front desk staff are consistently praised for being pleasant, polite, and easy to work with, even during late hours. The hotel features an on-site restaurant, the Garden Grille & Bar, which serves American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Features and Accommodations:
The Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo Downtown offers 124 non-smoking guest rooms and suites. While official descriptions often highlight modern comfort, recent guest reviews frequently suggest that the rooms are "outdated and old," with pictures potentially not matching the reality. Common complaints include stains on walls, dirty window sills, cracks in windows, and holes in walls. Some guests have also reported issues with inconsistent room temperature control and that cleaning staff did not consistently make beds or wipe down surfaces, even when trash was left out. Rooms are typically equipped with a 39-inch LCD TV with premium cable channels, a mini-refrigerator, microwave, and coffee/tea maker. Hypo-allergenic bedding is available, and rooms generally include a desk, laptop-compatible safe, and blackout drapes. Family rooms and accessible rooms with various features like roll-in showers or bathtubs are also offered. Despite the cleanliness and upkeep concerns raised by some, many guests find the beds comfortable, contributing to a restful night's sleep when not disturbed by noise. Some rooms may offer city views of Lafayette Square.
Promotional Information and Value:
As part of the Hilton family, the Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo Downtown participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty program, offering members exclusive benefits such as earning and redeeming points for stays, digital check-in, and guaranteed lowest rates when booking directly. Guests can inquire about current promotions directly by calling the hotel at (716) 848-1000 or +1 716-848-1000. Common offers often include seasonal discounts, packages, and special rates for AAA and AARP members, as well as government/military and corporate travelers. The hotel's value proposition is a point of contention for some guests, who feel the price paid does not align with the perceived quality and cleanliness, especially given the added cost of parking. However, its prime location remains a significant advantage for those prioritizing accessibility to downtown attractions. It is always advisable for potential guests to check the latest offers on the official Hilton website and carefully consider recent reviews regarding the condition of the rooms and the practicalities of parking before booking.
In summary, the Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo Downtown offers a highly convenient location for exploring downtown Buffalo, with friendly front desk staff and a range of amenities including an indoor pool and on-site dining. However, prospective guests should be aware of potential issues with room cleanliness and outdated decor, noise from hotel operations, and the requirement for off-site paid parking, which can influence the overall value perception for their stay.

May 11, 2025 · Ryann ScarpittiJust wanted to point out that obviously someone continues to watch the reviews online. As every single review that is negative or positive has A response from a representative just so they don't look bad. Many do this now to confuse future customers. This is a 3star hotel. Nowhere near the price that you pay. Outside is completely sketchy. Even during the day is creepy. There are no places close by to eat. I think the lobby is the only nice area of the hotel. The rooms are outdated and old. Pictures do not match what you walk into. Stains all over the walls. Washroom is average. Holes in the walls The windows have cracks in them. The Windows cell is dirty. The walls are dusty. One side of the room is warm the other cool. Temperature isn't balanced. Not sure what the cleaning staff does because we went out of our way to put aside garbage bags for them to pick up and they left them. Beds weren't made. Not sure if anything was Even wipe down or clean from the staff. Just overall gross. Thankfully it was quite.
Feb 26, 2025 · DMB bmbThe hotel is about a 10 minute walk to Sahlen Field and a 15 minute walk to the KeyBank Center, with a few restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The surrounding area is undergoing revitalization, and in a short time will be more of a destination, right now many storefronts in the area are shuttered. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Our stay was not long enough to enjoy other amenities, so I can't comment on much else. I would definitely return in the future.
Apr 18, 2025 · Chris LI stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo Downtown for one night on April 22. I was a part of a 40 people group on a business trip. Got a nice double room #1308. After I unpacked and got ready for meeting, I decided to take a quick nap. Immediately I noticed wet mattress. I pulled a sheet and mattres cover to discover a wet stain with telling orange circle around it. It was clear that housekeeping had failed spectacularly—while it appeared they had changed the sheets, they neglected to clean and dry (or even through away) the mattress itself, leaving it in an utterly unacceptable state. When I reported this to the front desk, they offered another room and complimentary item from the lobby shop. It was too late for me to change room, I had to leave for a meeting and I already checked another bed, it was OK to sleep in. A housekeeping supervisor was sent to verify the bed’s condition and confirmed the dampness. The front desk assured me that a manager would contact me “ASAP” to address the issue, but that promise was empty. Two days later, having heard nothing, I called and spoke with an assistant manager who offered a measly 15,000 Hilton points—equivalent to about $50—as compensation. This paltry sum was an insult, considering the inconvenience, discomfort, and health concerns caused by their negligence. To make matters worse, the assistant manager’s tone suggested this was a routine fix, with no genuine apology or effort to make things right. This experience exposed a systemic failure in housekeeping, management, and guest relations at this Hilton Garden Inn. The staff’s indifference and the hotel’s inability to follow through on promises reflect a complete disregard for guest satisfaction. For a brand like Hilton, this is unacceptable. I mostly stay at Mariott properties and Hilton was not my choice for this trip. I strongly urge others to avoid this property unless you’re prepared to deal with substandard rooms, dismissive staff, and empty assurances. Save yourself the frustration and book elsewhere.
Apr 25, 2025 · Konstantin ShestakovStayed in the suite. It was not as clean as expected for the price. The floor near the tub was cracked and had no seal, the corners were full of dirt. There were bigger stains on the carpet in multiple areas, old food stuck and dried on the floorboards next to the bed. Breakfast is not included and you have to pay for parking, other than that, it was perfect for a good night's rest, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet.
