We traveled to Buffalo, NY Friday evening for a night to go to celebration of life on Saturday morning nearby the hotel. The hotel employees were nice and friendly. It is a huge hotel. Clean lobby and elevators. Woman let us book a room at the front desk for $226 a night. The room was perfect and clean, the bathroom wasn’t fully cleaned, saw hairs in bath tub and none of us showered as we all arrived late at night 11pm-12am. My best friend and her son went swimming at 7am, they did have to call front desk for entrance since doors were still locked. The pool is on 11th floor. Pretty view. ☺️However, parking and breakfast was not free. They do have them but you will have to pay. $25 for breakfast plate.

Hyatt Regency Buffalo / Hotel and Conference Center Introduce

For local users searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the Hyatt Regency Buffalo / Hotel and Conference Center offers a prominent and conveniently located option in downtown Buffalo, NY. Situated at 2 Fountain Plaza, Buffalo, NY 14202, USA, and readily accessible by phone at (716) 856-1234 or mobile at +1 716-856-1234, this large hotel is particularly well-suited for business travelers, conference attendees, and those seeking a central base for exploring the city.

Environment: A Central Location with Direct Connectivity

The Hyatt Regency Buffalo boasts an enviable downtown location on Fountain Plaza, placing guests right in the heart of Buffalo's urban core. A significant advantage is its direct connection via an enclosed walkway to the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, making it an ideal choice for attendees of conferences, trade shows, and other events. The hotel is within easy walking distance of major attractions, including Shea's Performing Arts Center (a short 3-minute walk), KeyBank Center for sports and concerts, and the lively Canalside waterfront district. Numerous restaurants, bars, and cultural institutions are also in close proximity, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the city's offerings without needing extensive travel. The hotel’s imposing structure and spacious lobby convey a sense of grandeur, and guests often appreciate the clean public areas and elevators. While the building itself has a classic feel, some recent reviews suggest that parts of the hotel, including rooms, could benefit from refurbishment.

Parking is available on-site, though it is not free, with self-parking typically costing around $25.00 per day and valet parking around $29.50 per day. Street parking might also be an option. The hotel's location near public transportation, including the light rail, further enhances accessibility to various parts of the city.

Services: Comprehensive Offerings with Key Considerations

The Hyatt Regency Buffalo provides a wide array of services designed for both leisure and business travelers. The staff are frequently described as "nice and friendly," contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The front desk operates 24/7, providing round-the-clock assistance.

A key service feature is the indoor swimming pool, located on the 11th floor, offering a "pretty view." Guests should be aware that access to the pool may require calling the front desk if doors are locked early in the morning. A 24-hour fitness center is also available for guests to maintain their workout routines. The hotel also features a full-service spa.

Dining options include Genesee Public House, an American bistro serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an inviting atrium setting, and Johnny D's Restaurant, which offers an impressive and diverse menu for lunch and dinner. A Starbucks kiosk is located in the main lobby, providing coffee, pastries, and light bites. However, guest reviews mention that the Starbucks service can be extremely slow with long wait times, and some negative experiences with staff. This suggests it might be more efficient for guests to make coffee in their rooms if they have a coffeemaker or seek alternatives outside the hotel for breakfast.

Other services and amenities include:

  • Complimentary wireless internet access in all guest rooms and public areas, with wired high-speed internet also available.
  • A business center and 21 meeting rooms with over 21,000 sq ft of event space, capable of hosting various events and conferences, directly linked to the convention center.
  • Room service is available during certain hours.
  • Concierge services and luggage storage.
  • Laundry and dry cleaning services.
  • Multilingual staff (English and Spanish are spoken).
  • Pet-friendly policy, allowing pets on request with applicable charges (typically $100 for up to six nights, plus an additional $100 cleaning fee for 7-30 nights, with weight limits).
  • Child policy: up to two children under 17 can stay free when using existing beds, and cribs/high chairs are available.
  • Safety deposit boxes, currency exchange, and a gift shop/mini-market on site.
Features: Spacious Rooms with Modern Touches (and some noted wear)

The Hyatt Regency Buffalo features 396 non-smoking rooms, including 17 suites, spread across 16 floors. The rooms are generally described as spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a classic feel. Each room comes equipped with:

  • Hyatt Grand Beds® and premium bedding. While often praised for comfort, some recent reviews have noted "lumpy" or "uneven" mattresses.
  • Large flat-screen TVs (up to 65 inches) with cable channels and pay-per-view movies.
  • Individually controlled heat and air-conditioning. However, a significant point of contention from recent reviews is a "no A/C during heating months" policy, which can lead to uncomfortable room temperatures even when outside temperatures are warm.
  • Mini-fridges and coffeemakers. Microwaves can be brought to the room upon request.
  • Private bathrooms with hairdryers. One review noted hairs in the bathtub, indicating occasional lapses in bathroom cleanliness.
  • Spacious workspaces with ergonomic chairs and enhanced lighting, catering to business travelers.
  • Blackout curtains for undisturbed rest.
  • Robes and slippers available upon request.
  • Accessible rooms with mobility features are available.
Promotional Information and Important Considerations

As a Hyatt property, the Hyatt Regency Buffalo participates in the World of Hyatt loyalty program, offering members exclusive rates and benefits when booking directly. It's recommended to check the official Hyatt website or contact the hotel at (716) 856-1234 for the most current offers, which can include member rates.

Based on recent guest feedback, here are some important considerations for prospective guests:

  • Parking and Breakfast are Not Free: Both parking ($25/day for self-parking, $29.50/day for valet) and breakfast ($25 per plate) incur additional charges.
  • A/C Policy: Be aware of the "no A/C during heating months" policy. If visiting during unseasonably warm periods outside of summer, your room might be uncomfortably warm without air conditioning.
  • Starbucks Service: Plan for potential long waits and inconsistent service at the lobby Starbucks, or consider making coffee in your room or finding an alternative nearby.
  • Room Condition: While generally clean, some reviews indicate that rooms are "dated" and could benefit from refurbishment, with issues like loose outlets, worn carpet, and scuffed bathroom vanities. Beds have also received mixed reviews regarding comfort.
  • Privacy Concerns: One recent review raised serious concerns about staff entering rooms despite "privacy" signs and before check-out time, indicating a potential issue with privacy protocols.
  • Noise: If there's a large event like a dance competition at the connected convention center, noise levels might be an issue.
  • Check-in/Check-out: Check-in is from 4:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM.
  • Damage Deposit: A damage deposit is generally required, though the specific amount was not explicitly stated in the provided snippets.

In summary, the Hyatt Regency Buffalo / Hotel and Conference Center offers a very convenient location, especially for those attending events at the adjacent convention center. Its spacious rooms, indoor pool, and generally friendly staff are strong points. However, potential guests should be mindful of the additional costs for parking and breakfast, the HVAC policy, and some recent feedback regarding room condition and service consistency. For travelers prioritizing location and direct convention center access, this hotel remains a viable choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in downtown Buffalo.

We enjoyed our stay for a family event get together in town -enjoyed solely out of convenience to our events. Rooms were spacious. Not crazy about a policy with “NO A/C during heating months”. That’s great if it’s 55 outside. However, shorts and t-shirt weather there with someone from the south visiting Buffalo was even rough for us. A little nuts with closed windows and 76 in the rooms with no air or circulation. Desk is ok except for manager. Prick. Pray you don’t stay there during a dance competition at the connected convention center. Make coffee on your room. The Starbuck’s in the main lobby totally sucks. I mean sucks. A 45 minute wait with 30 people in line and the gal taking orders walks off the stage and drops the mic, and leaves for the day. Having a Starbuck’s in your hotel just means you’re lazy to not have your own, and the fact that they totally drop the ball for your hotel maintenance lobby coffee shop is on you, not them.

It’s alright for the price. But it is behind other Hyatt Regency locations. Here’s the good. We got a good night sleep and the mezzanine is a real nice place to relax. And now the bad. The rooms are decades old and due for a remodel. The bathroom door in our room couldn’t even be closed. Also the service can be improved. We had no water in our room, which is a standard, I wasn’t reminded of the type of room I booked, which is a standard (I would have upgraded too had I been asked), and I wasn’t reminded of my discoverist benefits (which I pay for) like I usually am when checking into other Hyatt Regency locations. That’s all to say, I’ll rate 3 stars.

Not a good hotel. Mostly clean, looks nice in the lobby. Hot water was not available for any one I spoke to the first morning. I adjusted my shower time by 45+ minutes and had hot water after that change. The room cooling was inconsistent and impossible to set. I was warm so set my thermostat as cold as it goes. It started to cool then in the middle of the night I woke up hot. I’m guessing there’s an occupancy sensor that doesn’t detect you when sleeping. I was expecting much better from this place. The bartenders were good.

Hyatt remains my go-to hotel chain, and I never hesitate to book a stay with them. The exceptional service and attentive staff consistently exceed my expectations. During my recent visit to this location, I found the rooms to be adequate, although I suspect that this property may be due for an update. One notable area for improvement is the ability to connect my phone to the TV. The in-room TVs appear to be outdated and require a fee for most services. On the other hand, the location was ideal, with easy access to everything I needed. The valet parking was also a convenient touch, making it simple to come and go. I won’t recommend having breakfast at hotel as it’s mediocre.
