Will never stay with a hotel in this ownership group again. I showed up late at night thinking I had reserved a room and was refused and not refunded. The front desk clerk *called the police* as I was *already leaving,* dismayed they stole my money with no explanation in their confirmation email. I'm not sure what he thought would be grounds for arrest in my frustration, but finding me annoying certainly isn't. I have never in my life been treated with such disdain by customer service. The woman at the front desk when I called hung up on me twice. These people don't care about providing service to customers. They will take your money and refuse you a room and act as if everyone wakes up at 3 in the morning. The 3 am policy is not at all explained in the confirmation email. I was told "all hotels" have this, but I have never experienced such a problem before. I slept in my car on the side of a street and upon requesting a refund for a room that was available that I had paid for and was denied was insulted and berated by a staff member who insisted I should have made a reservation for the next day. I did not need somewhere to sleep tonight. I needed somewhere to sleep last night. It should not take a lawyer to comb through the fine details of a website to find out check-in procedures. Every confirmation email states check-in is at 3pm and check-out is at 11am. No confirmation email mentions that if you arrive halfway through that window, you surrender your money to a "hospitality" entity that leaves you to sleep on the street. I was treated worse than I have ever been treated by any company in my life by this establishment, and they refuse to refund me my money for a service they didn't provide. Nothing short of a refund and formal apology for the way I was treated would suffice from this institution, but based on its staff's communications so far, I can only expect pedantic condescension. I have included photos of the confirmation email in full so everyone can see that the policy is not disclosed.

Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford / White Plains Introduce

For local users and travelers searching on "Hotels Near Of Me" platforms for accommodation in the Elmsford/White Plains area of New York, the Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford / White Plains, located at 25 Valley Ave, Elmsford, NY 10523, may appear as a search result. To provide a comprehensive and objective introduction, it is crucial to detail its environment, services, features, and, importantly, to thoroughly integrate the experiences and feedback from real customers, which offer invaluable insights for potential guests.

The Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford / White Plains is situated on Valley Avenue in Elmsford, a village within Westchester County, New York. This location offers relatively convenient access to major thoroughfares, including the Saw Mill River Parkway and Interstate 287 (Cross Westchester Expressway), making it accessible for those traveling by car. While not on a primary, high-traffic road, its position on Valley Avenue suggests it's in a more commercial or light industrial area, which is typical for budget-friendly hotels. The immediate environment around the hotel would likely consist of other commercial buildings, possibly some local businesses, and light residential areas. Parking is typically available on-site, a practical feature for guests. However, one review noted that "evenings in the parking lot were kind of loud," suggesting potential noise issues in the immediate vicinity. For users of "Hotels Near Of Me," the geographical positioning allows for reasonable access to nearby key areas. White Plains, a significant business and retail hub, is a short drive away, offering shopping, dining, and corporate offices. Tarrytown, with its historic sites such as the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Kykuit (the Rockefeller Estate), and Lyndhurst Mansion, is also within a manageable driving distance, providing leisure opportunities. While the environment itself may not be picturesque, its utilitarian location serves as a practical base for exploring the wider Westchester County area, including connections to New York City via Metro-North train stations in nearby towns like Tarrytown or White Plains. The general affordability often associated with Days Inn properties makes its environment appealing to budget-conscious travelers seeking convenient access to these areas.

Regarding services, the Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford / White Plains generally offers core amenities expected from a budget hotel. A front desk is available for check-in and assistance, though customer reviews suggest varying levels of service quality from the staff. A prominent service, typical for Days Inn, is the provision of a continental breakfast. While one review described the "Sunday continental breakfast was surprisingly better than Saturday but actually both days were much better than expected," with "prepackaged cheese omelets and sausage biscuits with the fruit and cereal" and a "waffle maker," this is a positive aspect for many guests seeking to save on dining costs. Complimentary Wi-Fi is generally offered in both public areas and guest rooms, an essential service for modern travelers. However, the reliability or speed of Wi-Fi is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. The hotel may offer vending machines for snacks and drinks. For business needs, the availability of a business center or meeting facilities is not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, but many Wyndham properties offer basic business services. Customer service, based on the provided reviews, appears to be a significant point of contention. While one reviewer gave the "front desk staff 5 star" for politeness and accommodation, another recounted an extremely negative experience involving being refused a room despite a reservation, non-transparent policies, rude communication, and even calling the police, demonstrating a severe lack of consistent customer care and transparency regarding policies such as late check-in or reservation validity. This extreme disparity in service reports is a critical factor for anyone considering this hotel through "Hotels Near Of Me." The provided phone numbers, (914) 592-7500 and +1 914-592-7500, are direct lines for inquiries, and given the conflicting service reports, potential guests are strongly advised to use them to clarify all policies, especially regarding check-in times and deposits, before booking.

Delving into the features of the Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford / White Plains, guest rooms are typically equipped with basic amenities. Standard features usually include air conditioning, a television, and a private bathroom. However, customer feedback offers specific insights into the condition and quality of these features. One review notes that "bathroom fixtures and caulking were well below par" and the "remote for the tv only worked within 3 feet of the set," indicating a need for maintenance and upgrades. The same review mentioned that "water didn't get hot until it ran for more than 5 minutes," which is a significant functional issue. The "living area looked like it was pieced together at a thrift shop," suggesting outdated or mismatched furnishings, contributing to a "below par" aesthetic. While one reviewer stated, "All in all the room was clean," this positive note is balanced by the overall sentiment that the room was "much worse than we expected." The presence of a refrigerator or microwave in rooms is not explicitly stated in the provided information. The hotel's general categorization as a "Motel 6 with a fancy name" by a reviewer provides a strong indication of the perceived quality level. Recreational features, such as a pool or fitness center, are not mentioned in the provided details or reviews, suggesting they may not be available or are not prominent features. The hotel's family-friendliness is questioned by a reviewer who stated, "For a couple of adults it was ok but I would highly suggest not bringing children here. Definitely not 'family friendly'," which is a critical piece of information for families using "Hotels Near Of Me."

For promotional information on "Hotels Near Of Me" platforms, the Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford / White Plains would likely highlight its affiliation with the Wyndham brand, suggesting a degree of consistency and standard. Key promotional points would typically include:

  • Affordable Pricing: Positioning itself as a budget-friendly option in the White Plains/Elmsford area, often emphasizing "good deals" compared to higher list prices.
  • Complimentary Continental Breakfast: A major draw for guests looking to save on dining costs, showcasing the variety of options offered.
  • Free Wi-Fi: A standard expectation promoted for convenience and connectivity.
  • Convenient Location: Highlighting its accessibility to major roadways (Saw Mill River Parkway, I-287), proximity to local attractions (Tarrytown historical sites, White Plains business district), and potential access to New York City via public transport.
  • On-site Parking: A practical benefit for guests traveling by car.

However, an objective introduction for "Hotels Near Of Me" users absolutely must integrate the severe and highly negative customer feedback provided. The account of being "refused and not refunded" a room despite a reservation, being subjected to calls to the police "while already leaving," and experiencing a complete "lack of communication" and "disdain by customer service" highlights a significant and alarming issue with hotel policies and staff conduct. The claim that "The 3 am policy is not at all explained in the confirmation email" and the refusal to refund for a "service they didn't provide" are major red flags. This type of experience is far beyond typical customer dissatisfaction and points to fundamental issues with transparency, ethics, and service delivery. Even if one reviewer praised some front desk staff, the overall picture painted by the negative review suggests a high risk for potential guests. The other review, while less extreme, reinforces the idea of a "Motel 6 with a fancy name" and "below par" room conditions, despite praising the breakfast. The description of the hotel as "We're just ok. We strive for mediocrity" by a customer serves as a stark warning. Therefore, while promotional material might present a standard budget hotel, "Hotels Near Of Me" users considering the Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford / White Plains must exercise extreme caution. It is unequivocally recommended that prospective guests read all recent reviews, contact the hotel directly (using (914) 592-7500 or +1 914-592-7500) to explicitly clarify all booking policies, particularly regarding late arrivals, deposits, and cancellation terms, and ensure they receive written confirmation of any specific agreements, to avoid the highly distressing experience detailed by one of the reviewers. The information strongly suggests that this hotel may not consistently uphold basic standards of customer service or transparency in its booking procedures.

The front desk staff deserved 5 star but that's where the excellence ends. I know it's NY and everything's going to be much more expensive than most of rest of the country. We got a "good" deal on the room compared to the list price but where I come from this room is well under $100. It's basically a Motel 6 with a fancy name. Evenings in the parking lot were kind of loud, bathroom fixtures and caulking were well below par, remote for the tv only worked within 3 feet of the set, water didn't get hot until it ran for more than 5 minutes, the living area looked like it was pieced together at a thrift shop... I think you get the point. Not terrible just below par. For a couple of adults it was ok but I would highly suggest not bringing children here. Definitely not "family friendly". The Sunday continental breakfast was surprisingly better than Saturday but actually both days were much better than expected. Saturday was fruit and cereal and Sunday had prepackaged cheese omelets and sausage biscuits with the fruit and cereal. There was also a waffle maker which we didn't use. All in all the room was clean but much worse than we expected but like I said the front desk people are very polite and accommodating. If Days Inn by Wyndham Elmsford had a commercial the title would be "We're just ok. We strive for mediocrity". I'm not trying to be mean, this is just an honest opinion of our stay.

The experience is pretty bleak, and not made better by a bunch of things that went wrong during a 1:00 am check in, when all you want to do is crawl in bed. The key cards didn't work; the first room the manager let me into was evidently occupied; the next room featured a lady having a very loud conversation about three rooms away that I heard as if she was standing in my bathroom. Not filthy but not immaculate. Really shop-worn furniture and furnishings. Sub-standard breakfast. Look, it's a $70 hotel room, but even at that low price, it should have offered a better experience and stay.

The front end staff are very rude, but that's just the beginning. The room was not cleaned properly. You could tell they did a "quick" clean up before we checked in at 3pm. There were roaches in the room which prompted my boyfriend and I to leave early. When I checked out and told the man at the front desk he acted like he didn't understand English and was very rude. Then once I got him to understand there were roaches in the room hence the very early checkout of 530am his only response was "i don't know how, the exterminator is here every weekend." This place is super unprofessional and dirty. I do NOT recommend staying here.

I travel a lot to the area. I use to stay at another higher end hotel but then I found days inn. Not perfect or luxury but a GREAT deal for the rate. Rooms are clean. Some bathrooms are more updated then others. 24 hour coffee/tea. Yummy waffles. Henry at the front desk is amazing. After you drive a ton of miles, you want good customer service. He is always polite, professional and knows his stuff. I like the staff but he is a star manager in the making
