I recently stayed at Tarrytown house state, expecting a relaxing and comfortable experience, but unfortunately, what I encountered was far from it. From check-in to check-out, the entire stay felt like it was running in “turbo mode” — and not in a good way. The front desk was clearly overwhelmed, with long lines and rushed service. Staff seemed flustered and disorganized, making simple requests like early check-in or luggage assistance feel like major inconveniences. The lobby felt more like a transit hub than a welcoming space — noisy, crowded, and lacking any sense of calm. Once I got to my room, I hoped things would settle down, but the chaos continued. Hallways were loud at all hours, doors slamming constantly, and it seemed like there was some sort of uncoordinated event going on that the staff had little control over. Housekeeping knocked multiple times well before checkout, and one even entered without waiting for a response. The amenities advertised were either under maintenance or overbooked, and trying to get help or answers from the staff was an exercise in frustration. It felt like they were constantly playing catch-up, with no time or system to manage the volume of guests. All in all, my stay felt like being dropped into the middle of a hectic race — fast, noisy, and entirely lacking in comfort or hospitality. Unless this hotel can slow down and get its operations under control, I can’t recommend it for anyone looking for a restful or enjoyable experience.

The Tarrytown House Estate on The Hudson is more than just a hotel; it's a sprawling property with a rich history, originally built in the 19th century. Its location in Tarrytown, a picturesque village nestled in the Hudson Valley, immediately sets a serene and scenic backdrop. The estate itself is typically characterized by its expansive grounds, often featuring manicured lawns, gardens, and mature trees. This environment is frequently highlighted by guests who appreciate the opportunity to stroll through the property and enjoy the natural beauty of the Hudson River Valley. The architecture of the main buildings, including the King Mansion and Biddle Mansion, often reflects a historic grandeur, offering a sense of stepping back in time while still providing modern comforts. The overall ambiance aims for a blend of elegance and tranquility, making it a potentially appealing destination for various types of stays, from leisure getaways to business conferences.

When it comes to services, Tarrytown House Estate offers a range of amenities designed to cater to diverse guest needs. Standard hotel services like front desk assistance, housekeeping, and concierge services are expected. However, based on customer reviews, the consistency of these services can vary. Some guests laud the staff as "friendly, accommodating and incredibly attentive," emphasizing excellent service and a peaceful atmosphere. They mention clean and quiet rooms, often with "great sunset views," and commend individuals like "Rita" for "Great service and amazing experience." These positive accounts often highlight a sense of relaxation and satisfaction, particularly for those seeking a tranquil retreat or a venue for social gatherings like "girls reunions."

Conversely, other reviews suggest that at times, the hotel can feel like it's "running in ‘turbo mode’ — and not in a good way." Some guests have reported an "overwhelmed" front desk with "long lines and rushed service," describing staff as "flustered and disorganized." Issues such as difficulties with "early check-in or luggage assistance" are mentioned, and the lobby can sometimes be perceived as a "transit hub" rather than a welcoming space, being "noisy, crowded, and lacking any sense of calm." Concerns have also been raised about noise levels in hallways, "doors slamming constantly," and "uncoordinated event" affecting guest experience. Housekeeping issues, including "knocking multiple times well before checkout" and even "entering without waiting for a response," have also been reported. Furthermore, some guests have experienced advertised amenities being "under maintenance or overbooked," leading to frustration in obtaining assistance or answers from staff, who might appear to be "constantly playing catch-up." These experiences indicate that while the intention is to provide comprehensive services, operational challenges can sometimes impact guest satisfaction, particularly during periods of high occupancy or event activity.

The features of Tarrytown House Estate are generally extensive, catering to both leisure and corporate clients. Beyond the fundamental guest rooms, the estate often boasts a variety of facilities. These can include dining options such as restaurants and bars, offering diverse culinary experiences. Recreational facilities are typically a significant draw, and may encompass indoor and outdoor pools, fitness centers, and potentially sports courts. Given its historical nature, the estate often has unique spaces that can be utilized for events, such as grand ballrooms, meeting rooms, and outdoor areas suitable for weddings or corporate retreats. The picturesque surroundings, including views of the Hudson River, are a key feature that many guests appreciate, contributing to the overall appeal of the location. The availability of diverse room types, from standard guest rooms to potentially more luxurious suites, allows the estate to cater to different budgets and preferences. The blend of historic architecture with modern conveniences, such as Wi-Fi access and in-room amenities, is a recurring theme in the descriptions of the property's features.

Promotional information for Tarrytown House Estate often emphasizes its dual appeal as both a serene getaway and a sophisticated event venue. For leisure travelers using "Hotels Near Of Me," promotions might highlight packages that include dining credits, spa services (if available), or special rates for extended stays. The scenic beauty of the Hudson Valley and the historic charm of the estate are frequently used as selling points, inviting guests to experience a tranquil escape. For corporate clients or those planning events, the promotional focus shifts to the extensive meeting facilities, professional event planning services, and the unique atmosphere that can enhance business gatherings or special occasions. Seasonal promotions are also common, tying into holidays, local events, or specific times of the year when the Hudson Valley is particularly vibrant. The estate's proximity to local attractions in Tarrytown, such as historic sites, charming shops, and restaurants, is often leveraged in promotional materials to encourage guests to explore the surrounding area. However, it's important for potential guests to consider the varying guest experiences noted above, particularly regarding service consistency and potential operational busyness, when evaluating promotional claims. While the promise of a peaceful and scenic getaway is strong, visitors should manage expectations regarding the potential for high activity levels within the estate.

I had a wonderful stay at Tarrytown House Estate and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway. The grounds were beautifully kept, and the staff was friendly, accommodating and incredibly attentive, and the grounds were beautifully maintained. The room was clean, quiet. We enjoyed a great sunset view. Overall, a fantastic experience—I’ll definitely be returning! We had a girls reunion, and visiting the charming town was the cherry on the top. Special thanks to Rita…. Great service and amazing experience.

What a delightful surprise! Tarrytown House Estate had me at “hello” (well, more like “welcome” from the warm and charming staff). These folks deserve a hospitality medal—friendly, attentive, and just the right amount of chatty. The place is a total stunner. Think vintage elegance meets peaceful retreat, with just a dash of historic mystery. And at night? Pure serenity. I even spotted a few deer just vibing on the property like they were guests too. No complaints from me—I’d share my room with those zen little guys any day. Location-wise, it’s a dream. NYC is just a quick train ride or car hop away if you’re craving city chaos—but honestly, with all the local charm and a restaurant that serves up serious deliciousness, you might not even want to leave the estate. All in all, I’m giving Tarrytown House Estate two thumbs up, a happy dance, and maybe even a slow clap. My crew and I are officially obsessed—and yes, we’re telling everyone this is the spot to stay when you’re heading to New York.

The property is very nice and the buildings are beautiful, however the upkeep is just not there. Also, they do not have bell service or valet. There is a nice lawn area with seating, but it is very thrown together. A few firepits and some lawn games could spice it up a bit. The rooms are ok. I have stayed in the original building as well as the newer. The bathrooms and furnishings need to be nicer. There is so much potential here.

I stayed at Tarrytown House Estate with my mother this past weekend, and our experience was made truly special by Briana at the front desk. She was exceptionally warm and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable and cared for. She even remembered personal details—like the fact that we were celebrating my mom’s birthday—which made our stay feel even more thoughtful and personalized. From allowing us to check in early to sharing a memorable conversation upon checkout, Briana’s kindness and attentiveness stood out. While I rated the rooms 4 stars due to the bathrooms not being updated (despite the rest of the room being renovated), the overall stay was a 5-star experience because of Briana’s outstanding service. Tarrytown House Estate is truly lucky to have her!
