I was at a conference down the street at the Hilton Washington paying several hundred dollars a night, and having to pay for extras like Internet. I went out for lunch one day, and came across the Gallery Inn while walking down the street about two blocks away. Out of curiosity, I stopped in, they said they had a room for $99 with free internet, and I took it. Location was great, seemed a good deal. They were full in the main in, so they offered me a room about a block down. It was fantastic! For that $99, I had clean, comfortable studio apartment, likely 700 square feet, with kitchen attached. The building was older and had the feel of a hostel, a bit, but it was a private entrance, bath, etc. The building had a lot of character, including a raised 13 or 16 foot ceiling, large bay windows, etc. I have no idea what their other rooms look like - perhaps I just lucked out because they were full elsewhere, but man, at this trip I really enjoyed myself. I was far more comfortable there then the Hilton, a third the price, and very worth it. I'm heading back to DC in the next few days, and have booked there again. Let's see if the experience is as good this time. Aaron
For residents of the District of Columbia, finding lodging that feels less like a temporary stay and more like a home away from home can be a refreshing alternative to the typical hotel experience. The DuPont Place Boutique Inn, located at 1905 19th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA, presents itself as just such an option. Operating with a distinct apartment-style approach, this inn aims to offer a comfortable and independent living situation, particularly appealing to those seeking longer stays or simply more space and privacy. This article will provide a clear, factual, and engaging overview of the DuPont Place Boutique Inn from a local D.C. perspective, exploring its unique features and suitability for various needs within our vibrant city.
The DuPont Place Boutique Inn distinguishes itself from large, full-service hotels by focusing on a more self-sufficient guest experience. Reviews often highlight its apartment-like units, which can include full kitchens and generous living areas, offering a significant advantage over standard hotel rooms, especially for extended visits. While it may not feature a traditional front desk or constant on-site staff presence, this approach allows for a more independent and potentially more affordable stay. Guests have found the location to be a major draw, placing them firmly in the heart of the desirable Dupont Circle neighborhood. While some past reviews indicate challenges with initial communication or cleanliness, others express high satisfaction, praising the value, comfort, and unique character of the accommodations. It appears to be managed by "Sojourn," which aims to provide a seamless turnkey experience, including keyless check-in and 24/7 support via text, email, or phone.
The DuPont Place Boutique Inn enjoys a prime location at 1905 19th St NW, firmly nestled within the highly sought-after Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington D.C. This address is exceptionally well-regarded for its blend of urban energy and residential charm, making it incredibly convenient for both locals and out-of-town visitors alike.
The most significant advantage of this location is its proximity to the Dupont Circle Metro station (Red Line). This vital transportation hub provides direct and effortless access to virtually all major D.C. attractions, including the National Mall, the Smithsonian museums, the White House, Capitol Hill, and various government and business districts. For those preferring to explore on foot, the "Walk Score" of 99 indicates it's a "Walker's Paradise," meaning daily errands do not require a car. The neighborhood is rich with a diverse array of restaurants, cafes, boutiques, bookstores (like Kramerbooks & Afterwords), and art galleries, all within easy walking distance.
The immediate area around 19th Street NW is known for its beautiful historic row houses and tree-lined streets, offering a picturesque and safe environment, even at night. Landmarks like The Phillips Collection Art Museum, Kalorama Park, and the bustling Dupont Circle fountain are just a short stroll away, providing cultural and recreational opportunities right on your doorstep.
While the inn emphasizes a "free to find your own parking" approach (which in D.C. typically means competitive street parking), some units managed by Sojourn may offer paid parking options if inquired about in advance. For most visitors to D.C., however, the excellent public transportation access and walkability of Dupont Circle largely negate the need for a personal vehicle. This superb location truly allows guests to immerse themselves in the authentic D.C. experience.

As an independently operated boutique inn, the DuPont Place Boutique Inn (managed by Sojourn) may not feature the same kind of large, rotating promotions as major hotel chains. However, there are typically ways to find value and potential special offers:
Direct Booking Advantages: Always recommend contacting the inn directly via phone or through their official booking platform. Independent properties often have more flexibility for direct bookings, potentially offering better rates or unadvertised perks, especially for locals or repeat guests.
Extended Stay Discounts: Given its apartment-style setup, the inn is highly likely to offer reduced rates for longer stays (e.g., weekly or monthly bookings). This is a common practice for properties catering to a more residential or work-related clientele. Inquire about potential savings for booking multiple nights.
Seasonal or Off-Peak Rates: Rates for accommodations in D.C. can fluctuate based on demand (e.g., during legislative sessions, peak tourist season, or major events). Inquire about lower rates during quieter periods or specific times of the year.
Referral Benefits: As one review charmingly noted, "Tell them Joy sent you ;)," suggesting that personal referrals or mentions might be acknowledged with a more personalized experience or perhaps a small consideration. While not a formal promotion, it speaks to the personal nature of the service.
It is always advisable to clearly communicate your needs and inquire about any potential discounts or specific arrangements directly with the DuPont Place Boutique Inn to secure the best possible value for your stay.

For residents of the District of Columbia, the DuPont Place Boutique Inn offers a distinctive lodging option that is particularly well-suited for several local scenarios, moving beyond the typical tourist accommodation.
Firstly, for those considering a "staycation," the Inn provides an ideal apartment-style escape right in the heart of the city. Secondly, when you have family or friends visiting from out of town, particularly for an extended period, the DuPont Place Boutique Inn is an excellent suggestion. Offering more privacy and space than a typical guest room in your home, it allows your visitors to settle in comfortably, prepare their own food, and maintain their routines. Its prime location near the Metro also means they can easily explore D.C.'s attractions independently, taking the pressure off your hosting duties and allowing for a more enjoyable visit for everyone involved. The pet-friendly options in some units are an added benefit for those visiting with their furry companions.
Furthermore, for D.C. residents facing temporary housing needs—such as home renovations, unexpected repairs, or even a need for a quiet space to focus on work or study away from home—the Inn's apartment-like setup is invaluable. The combination of a private entrance, full kitchen, and high-speed internet provides a level of independence and comfort rarely found in traditional hotels. While the service model is designed for a more autonomous guest experience, the noted responsiveness of the host for many guests, along with the convenience of self-check-in, contributes to a smooth and practical stay. Apr 05, 2013 · Aaron Stantonstayed for 2 nights as a stop on a trip down south. pics looked good, host was pleasant and easy to contact. the troubling items came upon initial inspection of the room, where we noticed dust on several surfaces that we would expect to be clean, such as shelving above sink, top of fan blades, and the air vent in bathroom. the big discovery was the used condom/wrapper we found under the bed. while we did stay in the room as planned, we couldnt trust that the room was properly cleaned/sanitized prior to our visit. sandals in the shower, sleeping above sheets with some type of clothing on. im under no misconception about staying in a hotel, and think i have resonable expectations, but this experience, for me, was subpar.
Sep 28, 2019 · bridgeport stonewerksI made reservations for 3 rooms over three months ago to go to Washington for my nieces graduation since I know it is a busy time and hotels get booked quickly. Yesterday I received a notice of cancellation for no reason for all 3 rooms and have been calling the hotel ever sense. I have left several messages as well as written emails to them for an explanation and nobody has had the decency to show face and give me one. As you can imagine this is extremely frustrating for us as well as the other members of our family since now, most hotels are booked. SO IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR VACATION PLANS STAY ON TRACK, DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. THEY SEEM TO NOT ONLY BE IRRESPONSIBLE BUT HAVE THE WORST SERVICE EVER.
Feb 07, 2020 · Maria JuncadellaThis hotel has no reception service. If you're an international traveler, make sure your phone reception works in the US. Because you have to call them to get the access code to be able to enter the building. By the way, don't expect to find the phone number anywhere visible at the entrance. So make sure you also saved their number in advance! Congrats, you made it inside the hotel and are welcomed by the musty air. The next challenge is to open your room by entering a code of 9-10 digits. Make sure you don't time out! Finally you're in your room after a long travel. Time to have a relaxing shower! You open the bathroom door and that amazing musty smell is even more warmly welcoming you this time. Anyway just hop in the shower. Oops, there are no bathroom products provided as promised (just a small shampoo hidden in the drawer, maybe left behind by the previous guest). So make sure you've got your own. You're staying maybe 7 nights, maybe less maybe longer... Doesn't matter,... in this hotel there's no such thing called housekeeping service. Not even worth mentioning the gap under your door bringing light into your room or wonderful vibrations waking you up in the middle of the night by your fellow hotel guests entering the building or wandering their room above you. By the way, if you're staying in studio #3, don't expect a pleasant panorama from your room window. What else you may want? The hotel of everyone's dreams! Pros: Good location and great WiFi signal. It was nice of the manager's husband to show up the first night to give me the WiFi password.
Nov 22, 2017 · Baran KoçLovely neighborhood, clean apartment, comfortable bed, our 8 yr old slept comfortably on the sofabed, helpful staff. The noise from outside disturbed me a couple of times, otherwise a perfect stay. Wish I could rate it 4.75 stars.
