Although "cheap" the rooms weren't properly cleaned, the cheap thin blanket has knife marks on it, black mold on ceiling in bathroom, the cleaning people didn't even use bleach or floor cleaner, barely vacuumed. There was mouse droppings in drawers. They used water on the floors but did an awful job. The rooms are pet friendly but the owner charged 100 per night and was resentful when you found it cheaper, there were 2 turds on the floor.. . A desk clerk looked up my number in their records and started sending flirty texts to me! The owner took that seriously though. To top it all off I was bit by a dog that stayed there 🤦🏽‍♀️

Econo Lodge Scranton near Montage Mountain Introduce

Within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, we aim to provide comprehensive and objective information on various accommodation options. Today, we are focusing on Econo Lodge Scranton near Montage Mountain, located at 1175 Kane St, Scranton, PA 18505, USA. This introduction will offer a detailed overview of the hotel, encompassing its environment, services, features, and any relevant promotional information, all synthesized from available online data and direct customer feedback. It is important to note that the provided customer reviews for this specific property are overwhelmingly negative, and this introduction will reflect that candidly to provide an accurate, objective assessment.

Econo Lodge is a brand generally positioned as a budget-friendly option, part of the Choice Hotels family, catering to travelers seeking economical lodging. The hotel's location at 1175 Kane Street in Scranton, Pennsylvania, places it in an area that is "near Montage Mountain," suggesting a degree of accessibility to the region's recreational and commercial attractions. However, Kane Street itself might be a more local or industrial thoroughfare rather than a primary tourist strip. The immediate environment around the hotel, as indicated by reviews, raises significant concerns. A reviewer noted a "grassy' area to potty" for dogs that was "Mostly dead with litter (including many empty liquor bottles) everywhere," which paints a picture of neglected outdoor spaces. This suggests that the hotel's immediate surroundings may not be well-maintained or aesthetically pleasing, which is a crucial aspect of a guest's first impression and overall comfort. The emphasis on being "near Montage Mountain" is a geographical descriptor rather than a guarantee of a quality surrounding environment in all aspects.

The overall environment presented by the Econo Lodge Scranton near Montage Mountain appears to be one of considerable disrepair and neglect. The description of the lobby as "run down" upon arrival sets an immediate negative tone. This implies that even public areas, which are meant to welcome guests, are not well-maintained. The outdoor spaces being littered and unkempt further contribute to an uninviting atmosphere. Such environmental factors can significantly detract from a guest's comfort and sense of security, regardless of the hotel's stated proximity to local attractions. While the hotel aims to serve budget travelers, the condition of its physical environment, both inside and out, as described by guests, falls short of even basic expectations for cleanliness and upkeep.

In terms of services, Econo Lodge Scranton near Montage Mountain appears to have significant shortcomings and issues in guest relations. The hotel's phone number is (570) 348-1000, and mobile phone, +1 570-348-1000, for direct contact. However, customer feedback highlights alarming service failures. One critical review describes a "desk clerk looked up my number in their records and started sending flirty texts to me," a severe breach of privacy and professional conduct. While the "owner took that seriously," the incident itself reflects extremely poor staff vetting and oversight. Another reviewer stated, "The front desk employee was not very friendly," indicating a general lack of hospitality. Furthermore, a highly concerning incident involved a guest being "bit by a dog that stayed there," which points to a severe lack of safety and guest protection protocols, especially for a "pet-friendly" establishment. Pricing transparency also seems to be an issue, as a guest was "told one price on the phone and once I arrived (10 mins later) price was $30 more." While the hotel is "pet friendly," the owner was "resentful when you found it cheaper" and reportedly "charged 100 per night" for pets, indicating a difficult and potentially hostile attitude towards guests trying to find value. These combined service failures, from staff conduct to safety and pricing, suggest a deeply problematic operational environment.

The features of Econo Lodge Scranton near Montage Mountain are described in detail by guests, revealing significant deficiencies. While the hotel is "pet friendly," which is a feature for some, the condition of the pet-accommodating rooms is severely criticized. Reviews mention "the rooms weren't properly cleaned," with "knife marks on" thin blankets, "black mold on ceiling in bathroom," "mouse droppings in drawers," and "2 turds on the floor." The cleaning efforts were described as using "water on the floors but did an awful job," and "barely vacuumed," indicating a severe lack of hygiene. Within the rooms, "ashes were also found on the floor of this 'non smoking room'," further highlighting poor cleaning. The physical condition of the rooms includes "floors were warped in spots and filthy," "Walls had tears in paper or holes," and a "bathroom toilet paper holder was missing all together." The HVAC system was problematic, with the "register blew air, but not hot," leading the guest to turn it off. Toiletries were "partially used." While the "shower did have a good pressure and had hot water," this seems to be one of the very few functional features. The "television worked." The overall description points to a severely outdated, unkempt, and unhygienic property, lacking basic functional amenities like properly working heating, and struggling with fundamental cleanliness standards. The "paper thin walls" are also mentioned, indicating poor sound insulation, which is a common issue in budget properties but compounds the overall negative experience here.

Promotional information for Econo Lodge Scranton near Montage Mountain, derived from these reviews, is starkly negative. While the hotel's name uses "Econo Lodge" and "near Montage Mountain" to appeal to budget travelers and those visiting the area's attractions, the actual guest experiences severely undermine any positive promotion. The critical reviews effectively serve as a warning rather than an endorsement. Phrases like "This hotel needs shut down," "My worst experience yet," and "Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere. You will be glad you did" are direct counter-promotional messages from real customers. The explicit details about unhygienic conditions (mold, mouse droppings, pet waste, ashes), damaged rooms, poor maintenance (warped floors, holes in walls, missing fixtures), and inadequate services (unfriendly staff, privacy breach, dog bite incident, price gouging) paint a picture of a property that fails to meet basic standards of hospitality. While the hotel might advertise itself as a "cheap" or "pet-friendly" option, the overwhelming negative feedback suggests that these benefits come with severe drawbacks in terms of cleanliness, comfort, safety, and service quality. For local users Browse the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, this Econo Lodge would appear as a high-risk option, where the minimal cost likely translates into a highly unsatisfactory and potentially concerning stay. The explicit advice to "Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere" is the most prominent promotional takeaway for this property.

This hotel needs shut down. My worst experience yet. The price was 100$ for a saturday night including my pet. Cheapest rate there was that was pet accommodating or we would have left promptly after walking through our room door. The front desk employee was not very friendly and the lobby was run down. Only just the beginning of the red flags. Soon as I found our room entrance door, I took my dog to "grassy" area to potty. Mostly dead with litter (including many empty liquor bottles) everywhere. Upon entrance of the room, it smelled horrific. Like someone with a cat stayed there for a month. Ashes were also found on the floor of this "non smoking room". The floors were warped in spots and filthy. Walls had tears in paper or holes. The register blew air, but not hot. turned it off. The bathroom toilet paper holder was missing all together. The toiletries were partially used. The shower did have a good pressure and had hot water. The television worked. i bought Febreze room freshener and slept in my clothes on top of the sheets. Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere. You will be glad you did.

Me and and wife stopped here 04-16-25 in the early hours. The hallways smelled terrible of smoke. We stayed in room 112 the first thing we noticed was the heater on full blast. It had to be in the high 80s in that room and the ac was broken. Couldnt sleep right away because it was just so hot. The light switches were completely busted so it was difficult to turn the main lights on. The walls were covered in brown liquid splattered and dried to the walls. When we did finally sleep we were woken to room service trying to get into our room at 9:45. Check out is 11 and we had nothing to put on the door handle to let them pass us. Had to tell the lady through the door when checkout time was for her to finally leave. Terrified to think if i hadnt woken to her trying to get in we very well could have just had some one in our room with us. Literally had to put my hand on the door to keep it closed. Safe to say we didnt wait to 11. Honestly we probably would have been better sleeping in the car in a Walmart parking lot.

It's not bad. You get what you pay for which is not that great these days. No bedbugs the room was clean. One of the hand towels looked nasty though. Hallway is smelly like sweat and old cigarettes. Like I said it was not bad lol. I'd say it's a great cheap option. Good luck finding it without a phone lol
