Rooms are nice, bed is comfy, rooms are cleanish, very convenient location. However, the staff isn’t that friendly, you’re almost a bother to them and half the time the front desk people are hiding in the back. Generational changes I guess because when I was younger someone had to be at the desk all the time and it was their job to do what customers ask. ————— We got a king suite. Had a kitchen (microwave, toaster, stove, dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker). Large desk, pull out couch (full), king bed, and a small bathroom. Dishes were done and put away, bathroom was clean. It was overall nice. ————— The hotel is noisy. Kids running around and being obnoxious. Other customers are very loud, stomping and throwing things at all hours of the night and day, mainly starting around 2am and lasting until 9 or 10pm. You’re lucky if you get 1 hour of nothing but silence. The kids usually take all the food from the breakfast area, they’re very rude and just cut in front of people, parents not in sight. ————— Food is okay quality. It’s like hospital food, if you ask me. The waffles are the only good thing. Not much of a variety. It also is to be out from 6-10am, they start packing majority of the food items by 9:30. ————— We brought my Fire Stick as we’re moving and hung up in here for some time. The WiFi would not work with it. The WiFi actually ended up being out once. ————— The staff is awful. They’re rude and never around at the desk. You come to them with an issue and you’re an annoyance to them. The maid for our floor was always annoyed when we asked for certain things to be done in our room. One day I asked her to come back to which she replied “we’re busy”, it’s your job, we were getting ready to leave for the entire day and it was a problem to do someone else’s room first. Also, bring your own garbage bags because the staff doesn’t leave any for you. I’m just annoyed with the place. I’ve been to Kalahari and the kids were more tamed there than here but it’s Scranton and it’s trash, so parents don’t care.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) is typically a short drive from the hotel, making it a practical choice for air travelers.
The hotel building itself is described as an updated property, designed to offer a comfortable and functional environment for guests, especially those on longer stays. It features a modern aesthetic and is maintained to provide a clean space. The hotel is a non-smoking property throughout.
As an extended-stay hotel, TownePlace Suites Scranton Wilkes-Barre provides a range of services and amenities aimed at replicating a home-like experience. A key feature of every suite is a fully equipped kitchen, which typically includes a microwave, toaster, stove, dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, and coffee maker. This allows guests to prepare their own meals, which is particularly convenient for longer visits or families.
The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast buffet served daily. While the variety might be limited, with some guests describing the food quality as "okay" or "like hospital food" with waffles being a notable exception, it provides a convenient start to the day. The breakfast hours are typically from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, though some guests have noted that food items might be packed away starting around 9:30 AM.
For connectivity, complimentary wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel, including in all guest rooms and public areas. For business needs, the hotel provides a business center with computers and printers, along with services like copy, fax, and overnight delivery/pickup. Meeting facilities are also available.
Recreational amenities at the TownePlace Suites Scranton Wilkes-Barre include an indoor swimming pool. A fitness center is also available, providing exercise equipment for guest use. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their pets for an additional fee, making it a suitable option for those traveling with companions. Guests are encouraged to check specific pet policies regarding size and number of pets, and associated fees.
Additional services for guest convenience include a 24-hour front desk, ensuring assistance is available at all times. Housekeeping services are provided, though some reviews have indicated inconsistencies in staff responsiveness to specific requests like daily room servicing or providing essentials like garbage bags. There is also a guest laundry facility on-site. Barbecue grills are available for guest use, providing an outdoor dining option.
The primary feature of the TownePlace Suites brand, and this property, is the all-suite accommodation, which offers more space and functionality than typical hotel rooms. Guests can choose from various suite configurations, such as king suites, which include a king bed, a pull-out couch (full-sized), a large desk, and a small bathroom, in addition to the full kitchen. This setup is ideal for families, groups, or individuals on extended assignments.
The rooms are generally described as "nice" and "updated," with comfortable beds. However, some minor cosmetic issues, like a chip of wood out of a headboard, have been noted. A significant safety concern raised by a customer review is the "VERY DANGEROUSLY SLIPPERY" tub and an issue with the water temperature control, where hot was cold and cold was hot. This highlights a maintenance point that potential guests should be aware of. Despite these issues, the overall cleanliness of dishes and bathrooms has been positively mentioned.
As a Marriott property, the TownePlace Suites Scranton Wilkes-Barre participates in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points. Promotional offers typically emphasize the benefits of extended stays, such as the complimentary breakfast, in-suite kitchens, and pet-friendly accommodations. Guests can inquire about various rates, including corporate discounts or special packages for longer stays, directly with the hotel or through official booking channels. The hotel generally requires a minimum age of 21 for check-in. Parking is available, though details on whether it's complimentary or incurs a fee are not consistently specified, but some sources mention free self-parking. Guests should always confirm payment terms, as instances of pre-arrival charges have been reported, even when "pay upon arrival" was selected through third-party booking sites.
Customer reviews for the TownePlace Suites Scranton Wilkes-Barre present a mixed but insightful picture. Many guests appreciate the "nice" rooms, "comfy" beds, and the general "cleanish" state of the accommodations. The "very convenient location" near shopping and restaurants is also a consistent positive. The fully equipped kitchen in the king suite, complete with various appliances, is a highly valued amenity, making stays more comfortable and convenient, particularly for longer durations.
However, significant criticisms revolve around staff friendliness and responsiveness. Multiple reviews describe the staff as "awful," "rude," and unhelpful, often "hiding in the back" or treating guests as an "annoyance" when issues or requests are raised. This includes experiences with front desk personnel and housekeeping staff. Another major point of contention is noise levels within the hotel. Guests report "noisy" conditions with "kids running around and being obnoxious," and other customers being "very loud, stomping and throwing things at all hours of the night and day," sometimes lasting from 2 AM to 10 PM, leading to difficulty getting sufficient rest. The breakfast, while complimentary, receives mixed reviews regarding variety and quality, and the buffet area can become "congested quickly due to the small space." Concerns about the cleanliness and inviting nature of the pool and jacuzzi areas, described as "cloudy," have also been raised. Technical issues with Wi-Fi connectivity and inconsistencies with hot/cold water in the shower (and dangerous slipperiness in the tub) further contribute to some guests' "annoyed" overall experience.

Apr 13, 2025 · Brittney GdovinThe hotel is clean and located next to shopping and restaurants areas. The room was updated but had a chip of wood out of our headboard but the beds were comfortable. The tub was VERY DANGEROUSLY SLIPPERY and the water was hot when you placed it on cold and cold when you positioned the handle on hot. The pool area was open but both Jacuzzi and pool were cloudy and uninviting. Breakfast was good but the buffet area got congested quickly due to the small space. I booked thru Booking.com and was going to pay upon arrival but they tried to charge the card before I arrived.
May 18, 2025 · Melanie Carter-SmithThe hotel is super noisy. The walls must be super thin because you can hear absolutely everything. The people are very loud they will stomp and slam things sometimes as late as 12 or 3 AM. The maids are super loud too. They will do the same things but louder. Sometimes as early as 9 AM when you're trying to sleep. At least they clean the room for you well and provide things when you ask for them. ------------- The room comes with a kitchen, TV, 1 queen sized bed, a bathroom, desk, and a couch. The kitchen had a dishwasher and stove. There's only 1 pan though. The bathroom is near the bed so that's pretty nice. The hot water for the shower will fluctuate a lot. I could be showering with lukewarm water and then it gets very hot or the hot water goes and I have to wait a while until it comes back. Very annoying -------------- The food is ok. The number of options is decent. There will always be scrambled eggs, muffins, cereal, fruit, yogurt, waffles, and porridge to choose from. ------------- Staff is ok. Some could be kind of rude but the others are nice. Sometimes you have to wait in front of the desk because the staff are hiding in the back. Kind of annoying.
Feb 19, 2025 · Well I have nothing better to doWe came to Montage to ski, and I brought a disabled child with me. The hotel arranged a very convenient and comfortable room for us in advance, which was very touching. The hotel is 7 minutes away from the ski resort. It is very quiet and clean, and the price is very favorable. There are many restaurants around, which is very convenient. We will come back here again during the winter vacation.
Dec 27, 2024 · gao峰This Marriott hotel chain was surprisingly better than what i was expecting. Starting with the front desk customer services, they're warm, friendly, helpful, and patient. My room was open and spacious, the kitchen area and bathroom was clean, my bed well made, clean with a comfortable firm mattress. The complimentary breakfast was good, no complaints on food. There's a lot of food options within five minutes walking distance. I would definitely use this hotel whenever I'm in the area.
