Poor service. Flickering lights. Loud barroom exhaust fan. Lou’s shower. I didn’t get the “Clean” vibe from the room. Everything was dated and not in very good shape. I could hear and smell other guest through the walls. Overall, I didn’t like the experience.
For local users and travelers searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for highly budget-conscious accommodations around Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), the Economy Inn - Pittsburgh Airport, located at 1170 Thorn Run Road Extension Building-B, Coraopolis, PA 15108, USA, presents itself as a contender. This establishment is positioned as an economical choice, offering fundamental lodging for those prioritizing affordability and proximity to the airport over extensive amenities or luxury.
The environment of the Economy Inn is largely defined by its location in Coraopolis, a direct suburb of Pittsburgh that serves as a hub for airport-related businesses and accommodations. The hotel is situated very close to Pittsburgh International Airport, approximately 2-4 miles away, which translates to a short 7-10 minute drive, making it exceptionally convenient for air travelers. Its immediate surroundings are primarily commercial, with other hotels and some local businesses. While not directly within a bustling entertainment district, its proximity to major roadways (like Thorn Run Road Extension) allows for relatively easy access to other areas. The Mall at Robinson, a significant retail and dining hub, is typically within a 10-minute drive, offering more options for entertainment, shopping, and dining beyond the immediate vicinity. Downtown Pittsburgh, with its array of sports venues, cultural institutions, and business districts, is about 15-18 miles away, a drive that can take around 25-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Customer reviews regarding the environment present a mixed picture. While some guests describe the location as "good" and "convenient" for airport access, others note that the general area around the hotel might not be the most aesthetically pleasing or vibrant. There are mentions of noise, such as a "loud barroom exhaust fan" and the ability to "hear and smell other guests through the walls," indicating potential issues with sound insulation and ventilation. However, some guests have also reported their rooms being "quiet," suggesting that the noise experience might vary depending on the room's location within the building or other factors. The overall "vibe" is often described as dated, reflecting its budget categorization.
In terms of services, Economy Inn - Pittsburgh Airport offers a range of core amenities essential for a short stay. A key service is the 24-hour front desk, ensuring that guests can check in or seek assistance at any time, which is particularly beneficial for travelers with late arrivals or early departures. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi in all rooms and public areas, allowing guests to stay connected. Free self-parking is also available on-site, a valuable amenity for those traveling by car. Importantly, the hotel does offer an airport shuttle service, though it comes with a surcharge of USD 10 per person for a one-way trip, and is available 24 hours upon request. This is a crucial service for airport travelers, as it provides a direct and reliable link to PIT. For added convenience, laundry facilities are available on-site, which can be useful for guests on longer trips or those needing to refresh their wardrobe. Daily housekeeping is also provided to maintain room cleanliness during the stay.
The features of the Economy Inn are straightforward and functional, aligning with its "economy" designation. The hotel comprises 40 air-conditioned rooms, each equipped with essential amenities for a basic stay. Standard in-room features include a flat-screen television with cable programming (including premium channels), a private bathroom with a deep soaking bathtub and hairdryer, and a work desk. Some rooms may also include a refrigerator and microwave, although this is not universally guaranteed across all room types and might be specific to certain bookings or room categories. Rooms typically feature parquet floors. Accessibility features include wheelchair-accessible public areas and an accessible airport shuttle, although the property itself does not have an elevator, meaning upper floors are accessible by stairs only.
Guest reviews on the features are varied. While some guests appreciate the "clean room," "nice bathroom," and "comfortable bed and pillows," suggesting that some rooms meet basic comfort standards, others have experienced significant issues. Complaints include "flickering lights," "low shower" pressure, and the general condition being "dated and not in very good shape." The presence of "dirt in the bathtub" in some instances also points to inconsistencies in cleanliness. Despite these drawbacks, some guests have found the rooms to be "clean and quiet," and deemed the hotel "fine for my need" for an overnight stay. The mention of "this felt like a 4 star hotel with a 2-star price!" by one guest suggests that, for some, the value proposition can be surprisingly good, especially if they secure a well-maintained room.
In terms of promotional information, the Economy Inn - Pittsburgh Airport primarily leverages its competitive pricing and convenient location near the airport. Its name itself, "Economy Inn," directly promotes its budget-friendly nature. The availability of a (surcharge) airport shuttle and free parking are key selling points for airport travelers. While explicit, broad promotional campaigns may not be as extensive as larger chain hotels, its appeal lies in offering a low-cost option for a quick stopover or short stay. Reviews often highlight "good price" and "best value for any hotel ever," which serve as strong word-of-mouth promotions. The hotel also accepts credit cards and debit cards for convenience.
In conclusion, the Economy Inn - Pittsburgh Airport, within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, serves as a highly budget-conscious option for travelers in the Pittsburgh area, particularly those in transit through PIT. Its core strengths include its very close proximity to the airport, the availability of a paid airport shuttle, free parking, and a 24-hour front desk. While some guests have found the rooms to be clean and comfortable, others have reported significant issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and noise, reflecting its status as a no-frills motel. Therefore, while it may offer an attractive price point, prospective guests should manage their expectations regarding modern amenities and overall upkeep, and consider it primarily for short, functional stays where affordability is the primary concern.

Jan 06, 2025 · Josh VickersIts not the worst place I've stayed in.. I do wish the bed was a little more comfortable but our room was clean and quiet.
May 09, 2025 · Megan BOkay so first of all, it's called Economy Inn because you're paying for Economy Level accommodations. Our room was clean, the staff was polite. I've seen complaints about there not being an attendant at the desk. There is a phone outside their sliding window that allows you to call them and make them aware they have a guest (I assume they don't get super busy on a regular basis). The one negative thing I must mention is parking. There isn't even close to enough parking spots to accommodate the # of cars each guest group has. Which is why I only gave them a 4 star for location We happened to stay here on a Satruday night and we told the office building across the street is closed on Sundays, that no one would bother our car parking there. I did not feel unsafe at this hotel. It is easy to get to, on and off the highway.
Aug 18, 2024 · Wes HickokI feel like I got a good value here. The room was clean and it had a desk and a table and a microwave and refrigerator. Had everything I needed. And I was impressed by the guy at the front desk. He had all his paperwork printed out and he had all the stuff needed to be signed printed out in advance and he was able to efficiently get me checked in. They have a good system here kudos to him and and the management
Jul 27, 2024 · Fred PascarelliWe thought this would be a cheap and easy option to stay at the night before our flight and we also purchased the parking for the week. Not only was the room disgusting, we waited 40 minutes for someone to pick us up from the airport. The concierge told me the wrong info 3 times and was quite cocky and rude. Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere!!
