This was my third time staying at the Quality Inn after landing in Pittsburgh and just simply had another great stay. It’s right near the airport and checks all the important boxes. Comfy bed and clean room with a hot shower, nice little workout gym, and a quiet little common area. In my opinion it’s incredible bang for your buck, and the management/staff were very welcoming & kind. Bonus points for Quality Inn that they let you extend checkout from 11am to noon no charge which is so clutch. A++ all around, I’ll be back!
For local users and travelers searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for a cost-effective and conveniently located lodging option around Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), the Quality Inn Pittsburgh Airport, situated at 1170 Thorn Run Road Extension, Coraopolis, PA 15108, USA, frequently comes up as a choice. As a Choice Hotels property, it aims to provide a reliable stay with fundamental amenities, catering to travelers prioritizing value and easy airport access. However, an objective overview necessitates examining both its intended offerings and the varied experiences reported by guests.
The environment of the Quality Inn is largely defined by its strategic location in Coraopolis, a direct suburb of Pittsburgh that functions as a hub for airport-related services. The hotel is exceptionally close to Pittsburgh International Airport, approximately 2-7 miles depending on the exact route (about 5-10 minutes drive), making it highly convenient for air travelers with early flights or late arrivals. Its immediate surroundings are primarily commercial, with other hotels and local businesses. While not situated in a vibrant downtown area, its proximity to major thoroughfares, like Interstate 376, ensures relatively easy access to other parts of the region. The Mall at Robinson, a significant retail and dining destination, is typically within a 5-10 minute drive, providing extensive options for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Downtown Pittsburgh, home to sports venues (PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium), cultural institutions, and business districts, is about 15-20 miles away, a drive that can take around 25-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Customer reviews regarding the environment present a mixed yet generally functional picture. Many guests praise the hotel's location as being "right near the airport" and "convenient." However, some feedback points to aspects of the property's aging infrastructure. While some guests find their rooms "quiet," there are also reports of potential noise issues, although not as frequently severe as in some other budget properties. The exterior and some common areas, as noted in certain reviews, might show signs of wear, such as "concrete stairs leading to the 2nd level are falling apart" and the hotel being "dated but very clean," indicating a need for ongoing maintenance. Despite this, the overall impression from positive reviews is that the convenience of the location often outweighs minor aesthetic concerns for value-seeking travelers.
In terms of services, Quality Inn Pittsburgh Airport provides a range of amenities designed for the modern traveler. A significant draw is the complimentary hot breakfast buffet, which is typically available daily from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM. This offers a convenient and cost-effective start to the day. For airport travelers, a key service is the complimentary roundtrip airport shuttle, which operates from 4:00 AM to 1:00 AM upon request, with some sources indicating it runs every hour. This service is a major advantage for guests flying in and out of PIT, with many reviews highlighting its efficiency and reliability. The hotel also offers complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property, ensuring guests can stay connected for work or leisure.
Additional services include a 24-hour front desk, providing round-the-clock assistance for check-ins, check-outs (standard check-out is 11 AM, with some reports of free extensions to noon), and general inquiries. Free self-parking is available on-site, including free RV/bus/truck parking, with extended parking available for a surcharge (typically USD 6-10 per day, often included in "park and fly" packages). The hotel's current pet policy, according to recent sources, states "No Pets Allowed," with only service animals permitted free of charge. This contradicts some older or less consistent information, so pet owners must verify directly with the hotel. There are also on-site laundry facilities for guest convenience, a fitness center, and a bar/lounge and restaurant, The Kensington Restaurant, available on-site, enhancing dining and leisure options.
The features of the Quality Inn Pittsburgh Airport are designed to offer comfort and practicality for guests. The hotel consists of 66 or 49 (sources vary) well-appointed, 100% smoke-free rooms. Each room typically includes a flat-screen TV with premium cable channels (including HBO), a coffee maker, a work desk, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. Many rooms also feature a refrigerator and microwave, providing added convenience for storing snacks or reheating meals. USB ports are also available in some rooms for device charging. The hotel offers accessible rooms with features like roll-in showers for guests with mobility needs. While the hotel does not have an elevator, accessible rooms are available on the ground floor, and some upper-floor rooms are accessible via stairs, which can be challenging for guests with heavy luggage. Soundproofed rooms are mentioned as a feature, which can help mitigate external noise.
Customer reviews on the features are quite divergent, presenting a stark contrast in guest experiences. Positive feedback highlights "comfy bed and clean room with a hot shower," a "nice little workout gym," and a "quiet little common area." Some guests have found the rooms to be "clean and comfortable" and appreciate the value, with one review stating, "This felt like a 4-star hotel with a 2-star price!" However, a significant and concerning review details severe issues: a room with "no deadbolt on the door and the door did not lock," requiring the guest to barricade themselves in; "no electricity" upon arrival (though this was due to external factors, the hotel's handling was criticized); and key cards failing to work multiple times. Other concerns from various reviews include "flickering lights," "smells smoke" in some rooms, "bugs and dirty smell," "spiders, bugs n insects," "stains on the sheet and the bathtub," "a large gouge in the sink," and "feces on the toilet seat." This indicates a high level of inconsistency in room quality and maintenance.
In terms of promotional information, Quality Inn Pittsburgh Airport, as part of the Choice Hotels brand, frequently promotes its value proposition. Its name itself, "Quality Inn," suggests a standard of quality at an affordable price point. Key promotional aspects include the complimentary hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and the complimentary airport shuttle, which are significant value-adds for travelers. The hotel also offers "Park and Fly" packages, which typically include 14 days of parking, shuttle service, and a one-night stay, presenting a comprehensive solution for air travelers. Choice Privileges Rewards program members can earn points and potentially receive special rates and benefits, such as bonus points packages (e.g., 1000 or 2000 points accelerators). Discounts for AAA and AARP members are also commonly available. Online reviews praising the hotel as "incredible bang for your buck" and highlighting "great value for the money" serve as organic promotional endorsements, despite the serious negative experiences some guests encounter. A refundable damage deposit of USD 50 per stay may be collected.
In conclusion, the Quality Inn Pittsburgh Airport, within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, aims to be a reliable and economical choice for travelers in the Pittsburgh area, especially those utilizing the airport. Its primary strengths lie in its highly convenient location near PIT, valuable amenities like free hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and a complimentary airport shuttle. However, an objective evaluation reveals a significant disparity in guest experiences. While some reviews consistently praise the hotel's cleanliness, comfort, and friendly staff, others report severe and unacceptable issues, particularly concerning room security (non-locking doors, broken deadbolts), maintenance (flickering lights, unhygienic conditions, insect presence), and inconsistent service delivery (shuttle information, check-in process). Therefore, while the hotel offers compelling value proposition for a budget stay, prospective guests should be aware of the potential for a highly unsatisfactory experience and it is advisable to confirm all critical details directly with the hotel and manage expectations accordingly.

Mar 13, 2025 · Michael Tumminia10/10 would NOT recommend this hotel. When I arrived there was no electricity making me unable to even check in, which I understand is out of their control but all the following occurrences are with their control. I was showed to a room and told "This is the only one I have for you. All the doors are unlocked so if you leave the room, when you come back just open the door." Once inside there was no deadbolt on the door and the door did not lock. I barricaded myself into the room with an ironing board ... not exactly up to safety standards if you ask me. They told me they would come find me when the power came back on to complete the check in. After about 45 minutes of having power I second guessed it and thought maybe they asked me to come to the front when power came back so I went to the desk and they said they weren't ready for check ins yet. At that time I asked them to confirm that the shuttle service was still going to be available the next day to take me to the airport they confirmed and said "Yes ma'am, our shuttle runs 24 hours a day, every half hour." I said okay and confirmed what the plan regarding checking in would be. It was determined that they would come to me when they were ready. Needless to say that time never came. I stayed up most of the night concerned about my door, which was still unlocked and had no deadbolt. As a young woman traveling alone I was very aware of any and ever noise and movement in the vicinity of my door because everyone in the hotel knew all the doors were unlocked. The next morning I went out to the front desk at a little after 7am in order to check in and then check out and ensure I could catch the next shuttle to the airport. When I went out they said I needed to check out and proceeded to ask me a million questions about about why I never checked in. The answer "I was not able to check in when I arrived." Was apparently not a suitable answer. After that I asked about the shuttle service and was told there is no shuttle service. I told them I confirm when I arrived that there was shuttle service and told the employees the night before what time I needed to be at the airport and was "assured" that there was shuttle service. The young man behind the counter said "Well that's not my fault. Can't help you." I asked of he could help me come up with a solution I needed to be at the airport and if he knew a car service or taxi or anything. He said "Not my problem, can't help you." To say my experience was subpar is FAR from the truth. A $90 hotel stay for nothing and a $50 Uber ride to go 1.5 miles was ridiculous. The treatment was atrocious and I don't see a stay at any choice hotel in my future any time soon. I've also contacted the customer service line to come to a resolution. There has been offers of points but not my money back. I will keep trying and am determined to have this situation resolved.
May 05, 2025 · Korrin FisherThe language barrier was an issue. The king room was big but we found a few bugs in the bed. I definitely don't recommend this hotel. Our car was perfectly fine when we got back. The shuttle drivers from Global were great. The shuttle vans could use upgraded.
Mar 02, 2025 · Becky FlanneryDo not ruin your trip! This was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The staff is beyond rude! We requested a blanket and the staff literally threw a blanket at my husband’s face when he opened the door. The toilet was plugged and wouldn’t flush for half the day, the “free breakfast” was frozen muffins, stale cereal (no milk) and old bagels. This was a horrible experience! They also lied about how far they are from Pittsburgh, plan on driving 40 mins on dark winding roads to get anywhere. The staff was really the worst I’ve ever dealt with. Nasty!!!
May 04, 2025 · J.ZinfandelGreat airport hotel. NOTE: Shuttle advertises 4 am - 1 am. However, if your arrival is between 1-4am, I was told by the front desk that you can call them and they'll do a special pick up. So you can use this for Park and Fly no matter when your flights.
