Me and my partner stayed here 6 months ago. We were happy that we could bring our dog with us. We enjoyed our stay and everyone was friendly. For the price that we paid for the Myles room was a bit overpriced. The room was a lot smaller and the bathroom is tiny. The room wasn’t efficiently clean. It was kind of dusty, spider webs, floor dusty. They offer breakfast which is nice, but it wasn’t that good. And if you’re vegan, there’s no options for you. Just a few pieces of fruit. The orange juice tasted like powder orange juice. They could do better in that department. Overall, it was a cozy environment and lgbtqia friendly. We felt very comfortable there. If the pricing goes down, I’ll definitely come back to stay.

March 2025: We stayed in the Agatha Christie room and absolutely loved it! The room was spacious and charming, located on the second floor. When we arrived, the room temperature was a bit high (around 90°F), but after texting the staff, someone promptly came by and adjusted the heat for us, which was much appreciated. We were confused about breakfast, as many reviews mentioned it, but it wasn’t included in the instructions we received. When we checked the main room, it was empty, so unless it’s specified in your instructions, don’t expect breakfast. We found parking at “Ptown Parking” (how it’s written on Google) by the wharf. For light sleepers, be aware that the church bells ring every hour, even throughout the night. While I didn’t notice them once I fell asleep, my sister was awoken by them. Overall, it was a beautiful and clean hotel with plenty of charm. I would definitely visit again and recommend it!

I wish I could say that I had a great experience. Previously I've stayed at this guest house but in other buildings. I was not aware when I made the booking that the rooms in the front of the property were considered "value rooms". Considering I spent over $700 for a weekend in December, they weren't much of a value. When I checked in, I was brought to the room which was up a narrow staircase in a cold and drafty building. Apparently the woman who brought me to the room had been out of work for 5 weeks due to a knee surgery and things had not been done in her absence. The air conditioning unit was still in the window which created a ton of drafting. They also had neglected to turn the heat on in preparation for people checking in despite being full. There's no heat in the bathroom. And the only heat is obtained from a single gas fireplace. So to get the bathroom even close to warm you had to overheat the room and leave all the doors open. The amount of noise from the outside street was overwhelming. Not that I could sleep considering I was on what looked like a cot mattress. The bathroom was dirty. And after two nights I could not stay the third night because my back was so wrenched. What really bothered me was that these four rooms are in a building off of Bradford Street but are not secured. The building is left unlocked day and night. So literally anyone can just walk into the building. There was no consistent hot water in the shower and I had to cover the floor and towels because it was so cold. Even the towels they provided were cheap. The bath towels were too small for me to even wrap around my waist. At 150 lb I would hate to see somebody bigger than me try to use this as anything other than a hand towel. Cheap everything all around. What's really sad is that I left after two nights and there was no one at the front desk so I simply left my key. No one even bothered to contact me wondering why I left a day early.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel this Winter and there was a problem with the room we expected. The manager went out of her way to correct the situation and make us happy. The rooms are outstanding and the location couldn't be better. There is no parking available onsite but the are public lots nearby. One benefit to going between November and April is that parking is free in town and there are plenty of nearby spaces to be found. We can't wait to go back.

Just know that these units are individually owned (at least some of them) and the owners can cancel your reservation last minute. I’ve stayed here several times over several years and love it normally. I didn’t know this little fun fact until recently when my birthday trip was ruined. My reservation, booked in July, was cancelled approx 1 week before my Halloween trip, leaving very little time to make new plans or reservations. There was an “error” and the owner wanted the room. The manager did try to offer a dif room, which was not comparable and normally not dog friendly. Long story short, I’ve loved this place for years, but this experience left a sour taste. Don’t book the Montgomery, whatever you do, as the owner clearly doesn’t care about you or your plans, even if booked months in advance. I don’t know the full story, but to say it was disappointing, is an understatement, so just be aware it can happen. Not sure if I’ll be back. **edited to reply to below response** In the name of transparency, please decide for yourself. I had booked Montgomery, a dog friendly room. I was offered (twice) Dorothea Dix by Barbara and nothing else- take it or leave it. This room is smaller, does not have a separate entry (important for dogs), is in the main building, and is generally half the cost of Montgomery- yet I was not even offered to get money back towards the cheaper room or for my inconvenience. I said no to that offer. They are just not comparable. After declining Dorothea Dix and being told we’d get a refund, my wife emailed Elizabeth very upset, and in the reply back, we were told “the owner of the condo is putting himself in there”. This does not suggest an accidental double booking. At this point, acknowledging how frustrating it was to get a reservation cancelled 7-10 days prior to a trip booked 3 months earlier, Elizabeth offered to pay for an Airbnb rental, which would have been an upgrade and an incredible offer, except it was for one night only, and it wasn’t available the two nights we had reserved. Again we declined as driving down for one night wasn’t worth it. I understand that things happen, but I certainly wasn’t offered an upgrade. My review was to offer insight to others, not to talk poorly of a place I’ve enjoyed staying at for years, but honesty is important so the readers can decide.
