We did not stay at this hotel to preface, but we have no other outlet to express our dissatisfaction with the situation that occurred at drag brunch. We came to Cape Cod for a weekends girls trip and we wanted to go to a drag brunch very badly! The night before we wanted to ensure we were able to attend so we made a reservation online. The total came to $26 per person after tax and we were 6 people. We were fine and willing to pay this fee as this fee does not include any food or drink, just entrance to the show. We had an issue when the hostess was advertising to the patrons on the street that the show fee was ONLY $15 dollars. Our group thought we misheard so one of us asked the hostess if we heard correctly. She said yes, walk ins are $15 dollars but that only recently changed the day previously. The implication was that our party was not eligible for a refund for the extra amount paid to reserve the tickets. It seems very unfair to charge MORE for early bird reservation versus walk ins. THE SHOW WAS GREAT THOUGH! Loved the Queens and I’m sure they had nothing to do with this unfair pricing.

The Crown & Anchor Introduce

For those searching the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Provincetown, Massachusetts, The Crown & Anchor stands out not just as a resort hotel, but as an iconic entertainment complex deeply woven into the fabric of the town's vibrant social scene. Located at 247 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA 02657, USA, "The Crown" as it's affectionately known, is a historic establishment that has evolved from its mid-19th century roots as the "Central House" to become Provincetown's premier destination for live entertainment, nightlife, and hospitality.

The environment of The Crown & Anchor is defined by its prime, central location on Commercial Street, offering immediate access to the town's bustling pedestrian-friendly thoroughfare. Its grand columned portico and tower make it a prominent facade, impossible to miss. While the hotel itself is a vital part of the complex, The Crown is truly known as Provincetown's "largest entertainment complex," featuring six unique bar venues. Guests can enjoy a diverse range of atmospheres, from the high-energy Paramount nightclub with its international DJ roster to the intimate Cabaret, a piano bar, a leather bar (The Vault), and the poolside bar & grill. The venue opens out onto a pool area, providing a seamless transition between indoor entertainment and outdoor relaxation. Being right on Commercial Street and near the beach, guests have the best of both worlds – the excitement of downtown and the tranquil beauty of Cape Cod beaches just steps away. Many rooms offer views of the harbor or the bustling street, providing a constant connection to Provincetown's lively spirit. The property itself is situated on over 19,000 square feet with significant frontage on Commercial Street and nearly 100 linear feet on Provincetown Harbor, allowing for panoramic water views from various points. The atmosphere is vibrant and inclusive, especially renowned for its LGBTQ+ friendly environment and celebration of queer arts and culture.

The services at The Crown & Anchor cater to a wide array of guest needs, particularly those looking for a dynamic and engaging stay. The hotel offers daily housekeeping, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment. Guests can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast each morning, served from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, providing a convenient start to the day. For dining beyond breakfast, The Crown & Anchor Restaurant, The Central House at the Crown, serves what is described as "simplistically eclectic cuisine" year-round, with a patio perfect for people-watching. The poolside bar offers a grille menu during its operational hours. For drinks and socializing, there are three bars/lounges in addition to the poolside bar. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and public areas, ensuring guests can stay connected. The front desk can assist with concierge services and luggage storage. While the hotel does not have on-site parking, which is common for such a central location in Provincetown, arrangements are made for free parking a short distance away, which guests have found helpful. The Crown & Anchor is also a major event venue, hosting a packed schedule of live performances, including world-renowned drag shows, cabaret acts, and dance parties, particularly during the peak season. Guests should note that check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM, with a minimum check-in age of 21. Pets are not allowed, but service animals are exempt from fees. It's important to remember that due to the hotel's nature as an entertainment complex, some rooms, especially those with sea views, can be phenomenally loud, and the hotel actively warns guests about this before and after reservation.

The features of The Crown & Anchor are geared towards entertainment and a lively resort experience. The hotel comprises 18 air-conditioned rooms, each equipped with a flat-screen television with cable channels, an iron/ironing board, and complimentary toiletries in private bathrooms (with either a bathtub or shower). While the decor of the rooms is described as delightful, some layouts can be quirky, reflecting the historic nature of the building. The beds are noted as comfortable, contributing to a good night's sleep despite the potential for noise from the entertainment venues. The standout feature is undoubtedly the complex's array of entertainment venues. The Paramount is Provincetown's largest nightclub, boasting state-of-the-art technology. The Crown Cabaret and the Divas by the Sea show (featuring some of the best drag queens on the East Coast) offer exceptional live performances, with shows held seven nights a week during the summer season. The Wave Bar provides a unique video bar experience with dancing and showtunes. An outdoor pool provides a refreshing escape, particularly enjoyable on hot summer days. The property also includes meeting rooms and a terrace, accommodating various needs from leisure to business events. The overall design embraces a vibrant, inclusive, and party-friendly atmosphere, true to its roots as a hub for entertainment.

Regarding promotional information, The Crown & Anchor's primary promotion is its unparalleled status as Provincetown's leading entertainment destination. They consistently highlight their extensive schedule of live shows, renowned drag brunches (like the "Say Gay! Drag Brunch" or "Dyke Drag Brunch"), and diverse nightlife options, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the unique Provincetown experience. While specific hotel room discounts are best verified directly with the property or on major booking platforms, the value of staying at The Crown often comes from the convenience of having world-class entertainment, multiple bars, and dining options right on-site. Past events and promotions have included themed parties (like BRÜT circuit parties), special performances, and art installations. For events like drag brunches, it's important to note their specific pricing policies. As highlighted by a customer review, while walk-in fees might be lower, reserved tickets can incur a higher charge, and these are typically non-refundable and do not include food or beverage, often requiring a separate food/beverage minimum per guest. Therefore, prospective guests should always check the event details and pricing structure carefully before booking. The Crown & Anchor also benefits from its strong brand recognition within the LGBTQ+ community, actively promoting itself as a welcoming and celebratory space. Many guests return repeatedly, drawn by the vibrant atmosphere, the convenient location, and the generally positive staff interactions, making it a staple for those seeking a lively and unforgettable Provincetown vacation.

This is a long delayed review—- huge shout out to Patrick, the best bartender of all time! Managing a massive crowd at a Sunday pool party, he made my drink quickly and with a friendly smile and a little chat. Made me feel so welcome during my first P town weekend!

Just rating for the theater space… always great, and nice clean space with great lighting/sound. Perfect for Dina Martina to show off her tragic shocking horrifically wonderful theatrics/“singing”/“dancing”.
