We enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was spacious, clean, and getting more towels/washcloths was not an issues. The breakfast was good but nothing out of the ordinary for a continental. The only issues was our toilet kept getting stopped up very easily. Would definitely stay again the next time we visit NOLA.

Garden District Hotel Collection Introduce

Hello, fellow Louisianians! When you're planning a trip to New Orleans, especially if you're looking to soak in some of that quintessential Southern charm beyond the lively French Quarter, the Garden District is often where you want to be. And nestled right in this beautiful, historic neighborhood is the Garden District Hotel Collection. This isn't just one hotel, but a collection of properties, including the Prytania Park Hotel, the Queen Anne Hotel, and the Prytania Oaks Hotel, offering a unique and comfortable stay experience. If you're seeking a blend of historic ambiance, personalized service, and convenient access to both the Garden District and the French Quarter, let's explore what this collection has to offer for your next visit to the Crescent City.

The Garden District Hotel Collection is known for its inviting atmosphere and its friendly approach to hospitality. It aims to provide a relaxed and enjoyable stay, often highlighted by its attentive staff and comfortable, spacious rooms. While it offers a more laid-back vibe compared to some of the larger, more bustling hotels, it doesn't skimp on essential amenities. Many guests appreciate its "great customer service" and the personal touch that makes them feel right at home. It's a perfect choice for those who want to experience the beauty of New Orleans' Garden District without feeling isolated from the city's main attractions, thanks to its excellent connectivity via the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line.

Location and Accessibility

The Garden District Hotel Collection is centrally located at 1525 Prytania St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA. This address places it firmly within the beautiful and historic Lower Garden District, offering a tranquil base with excellent access to both local charm and city-wide attractions:

  • St. Charles Avenue Streetcar: A major highlight is its proximity to the iconic St. Charles Streetcar line, described by guests as "only a block from the St. Charles streetcar line." This provides a scenic and convenient way to explore the Garden District, Uptown, and connect directly to the French Quarter and Central Business District.
  • Lower Garden District Exploration: Guests are perfectly positioned to explore the Lower Garden District's unique architecture, antique shops, and local eateries on Magazine Street. The National World War II Museum is also within a short walk.
  • French Quarter Access: While not directly in the French Quarter, the hotel collection is "less than a mile from the French Quarter," making it an easy streetcar ride or even a moderate walk for those who enjoy strolling.
  • Museums and Arts: The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Southern Food & Beverage Museum, and Louisiana's Civil War Museum at Confederate Memorial Hall are all within easy walking distance, enriching your cultural experience.
  • Convention Center and Port: The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and the Port of New Orleans are also within a manageable distance (around a 20-minute stroll or short streetcar/taxi ride), making it convenient for business travelers or cruise passengers.
  • Ease of Arrival: Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is approximately an 18-minute drive from the hotel.
  • Parking: The hotel offers free uncovered on-site self-parking, though it is limited and available on request. This is a significant advantage in New Orleans, where parking can often be a costly and difficult endeavor.

The location strikes a perfect balance, offering a quieter, more authentic neighborhood experience while keeping the vibrant heart of New Orleans easily within reach.

Guests consistently praise the "very friendly and accommodating" staff, with specific mentions of helpfulness regarding "advice of things to do and great places to eat."
  • Complimentary Continental Breakfast: A key amenity, a "good but nothing out of the ordinary for a continental" breakfast is offered daily. This provides a convenient and cost-saving start to your day.

  • Daily Housekeeping: Rooms are regularly cleaned and maintained, and guests have noted that "getting more towels/washcloths was not an issue."

  • Luggage Storage: Available for guests who arrive early or depart late.

While some minor issues like a "musty smell" or easily "stopped up" toilets were mentioned in reviews, the overall sentiment points to a hotel that strives to be accommodating and attentive to guest needs.

Great customer service. Joe was very helpful and gave us lots of advise of things to do and great places to eat. Located only a block from the st Charles street car line. Room was small but very manageable. We really enjoyed the first floor access and the outside ambiance. Only down falls were the shower could have been cleaner and the room had a musty smell when you first entered. We could definitely feel the moisture in the room. We turned the ac down and it helped. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

My family recently spent one night at this super cute, quaint hotel prior to leaving for a cruise. I loved everything about it. The rooms are so much more fun than a big chain hotel. My girls stayed in the upper loft and my husband and I slept comfortably in the lower area. On the morning of our cruise, we enjoyed the outside breakfast buffet. I do think they could benefit by installing some outside ceiling fans to circulate more air. The staff was amazing. We were gone from the hotel about 20 minutes or so when I received a call saying my daughter had left her wallet in the upstairs loft. Her wallet contained her ID (which we HAD to have to get on the ship) and $300.00. When we returned to pick it up after much panic it was all there! Very honest and admirable people!

We booked this room sight unseen and no research. The price is what attracted us. What a pleasant surprise. Logistically it is placed well. $7 to $8 Uber dollars from the French Quarters. Two more financial perks are free parking and a continental breakfast which equates to about $65 daily. Now that said, this little hotel has a neat character all its own. It is kind of like staying at your grandmother's. If you plan to spend the day in the room this might not be the place for you. If you are sightseeing and want a place that has comfortable rooms, hospitable staff and guest that affords a great night of sleep, this is worth the visit. We plan to make this a place to return. Best roll of the dice we have made in a while.

We just love our room and location. Nothing but the friendliest staff at this historic site. Room is very clean and well furnished. Memory foam bed is like sleeping atop of a huge marshmallow. Nice after a hard day of walking in the heat of summer. I know where we will stay from now on!
