John at the front desk is definitely a 10/10! Very respectful, informative, and super friendly. The hotel itself is very nice, the indoor pool is so beautiful and clean. Although, they did not enforce the "adults only" hour, which is fine. The indoor restaurant is a solid 1/10. The food is horrid and super expensive. We got a large pizza and chicken Alfredo from there. The pizza had very little sauce and cheese, thinner than the cardboard box it came in and severely burnt.. My cheese was literally black. The Alfredo sauce was the texture and color of milky water, no taste, uncooked noodles. The bathroom in the room we were in had black mold growing on the ceiling, especially the shower. We were there all weekend, and room service only replaced our towels once. But yeah. The hotel looks pretty for being an older hotel. And John was amazing. Also didn't even get our $25 deposit back, even after we cleaned the room ourselves.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For us Tennesseans, the Glenstone Lodge in Gatlinburg presents a compelling option for a fantastic and convenient mountain getaway. It strikes a balance that many locals appreciate: comfortable accommodations, excellent amenities, and a prime location, all often at a great value.

Firstly, the resort's commitment to customer service truly stands out. As one reviewer highlighted, the staff, particularly individuals like John at the front desk, go above and beyond to be "respectful, informative, and super friendly." This kind of genuine hospitality makes a significant difference, making locals feel welcomed and valued, turning a simple stay into a truly pleasant experience. For those of us who appreciate good old Southern hospitality, this is a major draw.

The indoor pool is undeniably a star feature. Even if the Gatlinburg weather decides to be temperamental (as it sometimes can be in the mountains!), having a beautiful, clean, and impressive indoor pool with a waterfall is a blessing. It ensures that families, couples, or solo travelers always have a place to relax and have fun, regardless of what's happening outside. This year-round aquatic escape is a huge plus, especially for repeat visitors who know the unpredictability of mountain weather. While one reviewer noted the "adults only" hour wasn't always enforced, the overall sentiment points to the pool being a fantastic amenity that greatly enhances the stay for everyone.

The location on Airport Road is another strong point for locals. It offers the best of both worlds: you’re only a short stroll from the vibrant heart of downtown Gatlinburg, meaning easy access to all the shops, restaurants, and attractions without the constant noise and traffic right outside your window. This allows for convenient exploration by foot or by trolley (with a nearby stop), eliminating the need to constantly move your car and pay for parking – a significant benefit for anyone who has experienced downtown Gatlinburg during peak season. This blend of accessibility and a slightly quieter setting is often what locals look for in a mountain retreat.

While the on-site restaurant received a mixed review regarding food quality, the presence of dining options within the hotel remains a convenience, and the vast array of dining experiences just a short walk or trolley ride away means guests are never short of choices. And despite being an "older hotel," it's clear that efforts are made to maintain a pleasant aesthetic, as noted by a guest finding it "looks pretty."

Ultimately, the Glenstone Lodge offers a comfortable, amenity-rich, and well-located option for Tennessee residents seeking a delightful Gatlinburg vacation. With its inviting pools, friendly staff, and proximity to all the best the Smokies have to offer, it's a place that continues to earn its spot as a recommended choice for locals looking for a truly amazing getaway.

We absolutely love it here. Pool amazing! Restaurant in hotel! Staff was super amazing! Rooms need slight update but who is really in their room on vacation? They were accommodating to all our needs! 100% recommend staying here! Indoor and outdoor pool. It rained most of our stay so the indoor pool was a blessing. Beautiful place with great prices! We will definitely book here again. Thank you Glenstone Lodge for an amazing getaway

Mike was very accommodating, pleasant, and helpful. The lobby area was very nicely decorated. The pool was unique and water temp was warm. The restaurant in the hotel was very good. My only complaint is the prices for ordering off the menu for breakfast and the drinks were very pricey. On the weekends a breakfast buffet was offered for$10.

Great service! (Thank you, Kristin and Angel!) If you don’t have kids you may want an exterior room due to the pool fun. Rooms are slightly dated but amazing considering the age of the hotel it is well kept. Great price! Great location! Close to shopping, but not too close. Will stay here again!
