Meh, 馃 opened door to room and it smelled like weed. Like really really strong. We smelled like it the next day. It was so strong! The room was clean. It鈥檚 kind of ghetto though, like the entire place. Perhaps just old, but the rooms aren鈥檛 old inside. We rented two rooms and the other room was really nice. Ours with the jacuzzi tub smelled like a bar/Willie Nelson鈥檚 house!! I mean, dang, air it out, spray some spray, something!! We got there late so we had to call a number and get a code. We were the only ones at this place. It was weird. It was just for one night. The rooms that weren鈥檛 occupied by Cheech and Chong I鈥檓 sure was great!! I mean I鈥檇 stay here again, it was clean. If it was for like a week, I鈥檇 probably find somewhere with more amenities. The rooms are cheap through booking.com. It鈥檚 just a basic place. No pool. Nothing fancy. The tv was off centered in the room. I鈥檇 put it on a swivel tv mount so you can watch tv in the tub. It could be better. Just some minor tweaks and it could be great. The price point was good though.

For us Tennesseans, a trip to Gatlinburg is often about making the most of our time exploring the mountains and the town, without necessarily breaking the bank on lavish accommodations. The Belle Aire Motel, despite its candidly reviewed quirks, offers several compelling reasons why it can be a perfectly suitable, and even preferred, option for locals.
The most significant advantage for locals is its outstanding location. Being situated right on the Historic Nature Trail, directly across from the Gatlinburg Convention Center, and within easy walking distance to the Parkway's main attractions, is a huge win. This means you can park your car for free (a definite rarity and a major money-saver in Gatlinburg!) and comfortably stroll to the Space Needle, SkyLift Park, various museums, shops, and restaurants. For those of us familiar with Gatlinburg's traffic, the ability to ditch the car and walk everywhere is incredibly appealing and convenient.
Another key factor is the price point. As noted by reviewers, rooms at the Belle Aire are "cheap through booking.com" and the "price point was good though." For locals looking for an economical overnight stay or a simple base for a week of adventures, this affordability allows for more spending on experiences and attractions. While it's described as a "basic place" with "no pool" and "nothing fancy," this straightforward approach caters to those who prioritize location and cost-effectiveness over resort-style amenities.
Crucially, despite some comments on the motel's exterior or initial room odors, reviewers consistently affirm that "the room was clean" and "Everything in the room was clean." For most travelers, especially those accustomed to practical lodging, cleanliness is paramount, and the Belle Aire appears to deliver on this fundamental aspect. While one reviewer mentioned a strong odor in their specific jacuzzi room, they also stated they "mean I鈥檇 stay here again, it was clean," suggesting it might be an isolated incident or manageable for a short stay. For longer trips, as one reviewer mentioned, you might want more amenities, but for a night or a few days of active exploration, it hits the mark.
The free Wi-Fi, in-room refrigerators, and microwaves also add practical value, allowing guests to store snacks or leftovers and stay connected. The historic charm, though "fading" in some areas, might also appeal to locals who appreciate the classic Gatlinburg experience rather than purely modern aesthetics.
In conclusion, for Tennessee residents seeking a clean, affordable, and incredibly well-located place to stay in Gatlinburg, particularly if you value walking access to downtown attractions and free parking, the Belle Aire Motel is a strong contender. It's a practical choice that allows you to spend your time and money on experiencing the best of the Smokies, rather than on lavish hotel amenities you might not use. Its appeal lies in its simplicity, cleanliness, and unbeatable position in the heart of our favorite mountain town.

Jun 14, 2025 路 A DolesThis is a fading motel with a lot of potential. The rooms are vaguely sImilar to the pictures that were taken long ago. No clerk on site. Aging ice machine out back. Fast wifi. Fuzzy cable TV. Everything in the room was clean. The outside was scruffy and begging for some TLC. Was safe and uncrowded. Quiet b/c it was nearly empty.
Jun 01, 2025 路 Joe AverageThe room was nasty, the floor looked like it hasn't been vacuumed, the cabinet doors on the sink was falling apart, the room door was falling apart.. The guy at the front desk told us that the room we booked wasn't available, because they don't have a jacuzzi, and we need to call Booking.com because they changed our room. I DO NOT recommend anyone staying here..
Dec 22, 2024 路 Tammy BissonnetteWhat a great place to stay, rooms were clean and fully functional. Only complaint is I tried to take a bath one night and the water turned yellow and wouldn鈥檛 get hot. This only happened once. But overall good experience. Front desk staff was all friendly and helpful.
Nov 28, 2024 路 Candace ChristyWe really enjoyed this motel. The location is great- close to the main strip. Rooms are dated but that鈥檚 to be expected at a budget property. The rooms were exceptionally clean. We checked in late and the office was closed- very easy to call to check in and be given a code to our room. I came in expecting a so-so motel but was surprised how nice it was. The only thing I didn鈥檛 like was I wish there was a comforter or blanket on the bed- with just a thin sheet I was pretty cold. Would bring your own blanket. That being said I would totally stay here again!
