We booked this hotel via Hotwire while on a road trip. We needed a place to stay outside of Chicago for the night. It was rated 3.5 stars on Hotwire, but it WAS NOT! I cannot advise staying at this hotel. The only positive things I have to say is that the bed was comfortable and appeared clean and the air conditioner in the room functioned. When we arrived the signs outside the building were Holiday Inn, but it looks like it was purchased by another company as the signage inside the building did not say Holiday Inn. The lighting outside the building was dark. We actually struggled to figure out where the lobby was located. The bar/restaurant connected to the hotel was closed. The pictures online were deceiving as the hotel appears nice and new, but once we arrived it looked abandoned. The attendant in the lobby did not greet us. He just came out to the desk. I told him our name and he handed me a key (no ID check, no credit card verification). It felt shady. There was no air conditioning in the lobby or hallways, and it was pretty dark (not all the lights were functional). The elevator door didn't close all the way (we took the stairs when leaving for fear of using the elevator again). We walked to our room on the 3rd floor in what appeared to be an empty hotel. We felt like we were the only people in the entire building. The room was fine, although it appeared to have not been used in a while as the table tops seemed dusty. There were black hairs all over the three bath towels -- needless to say we didn't use the shower and neither of us wanted to walk back down to the front desk to request new towels. It was creepy. Had it not been late in the evening we would have found a different place to sleep. We realized in the morning (in daylight),, that the pool was empty and the pool area was stuffed with boxes and furniture. There was no one at the front desk when we left, so we just put our keys on the counter and couldn't leave fast enough.

Grand Royal Hotel O'Hare - Chicago Introduce

For us Illinois residents, finding a hotel near O'Hare International Airport can be a challenge, as we often need a convenient and reliable place to stay before an early flight or after a late arrival. The Grand Royal Hotel O'Hare - Chicago is a lodging option located in Elk Grove Village that may appear as a choice when booking through various platforms. This hotel, located at a site that was formerly a Holiday Inn, has undergone a change in ownership and now operates under a new name. This article is intended to provide a factual and objective overview of the hotel, based on publicly available data, to help local travelers make an informed decision about their stay. We will cover its location, what services are offered, and other key details to give you a clear picture of what to expect.

The Grand Royal Hotel O'Hare - Chicago is located at 1000 Busse Rd Door 1, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007, USA. Its primary appeal is its proximity to O'Hare International Airport and the surrounding industrial and commercial parks of Elk Grove Village. For locals, this location offers convenient access to a major transportation hub without the hassle of navigating through downtown Chicago traffic. The hotel is situated near several main roads and is easily accessible by car. It is important to note that while the location is geographically convenient for airport and business travelers, the exterior of the building and the surrounding area may present a different impression than the online photos. Some visitors have reported struggling to find the lobby and have noted that the exterior lighting was not fully functional, giving the building a somewhat desolate appearance.

Based on available public data and customer feedback, the services offered at the Grand Royal Hotel O'Hare - Chicago appear to be minimal and may not always be fully operational.

  • Lodging: The hotel offers guest rooms with beds and air conditioning. Some guests have noted that the beds were comfortable and appeared clean, while others reported cleanliness issues such as hair and stains on the bedding and mold in the showers. The furniture and overall decor are described as dated, with some rooms having laminate fake wood flooring.

  • Amenities: The hotel has a pool area, but according to a recent review, the pool was empty and filled with boxes and furniture. This suggests that the pool may not be a usable amenity for guests. The bar/restaurant connected to the hotel has also been reported as being closed.

  • Customer Service: Customer service experiences vary significantly. One guest reported that the front desk attendant did not greet them, did not check for ID, and did not require credit card verification. However, another guest mentioned that the staff was able to assist with rebooking and a hotel voucher. This discrepancy in service quality is a point to consider.

  • Internet Access: While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, hotels typically offer some form of internet access. However, given the other reported issues, the reliability and speed of the internet connection may not be guaranteed.

  • Maintenance and Facilities: Guests have reported several maintenance issues, including non-functional lights in the hallways and lobby, a broken elevator door, and a lack of air conditioning in the common areas. These issues can impact a guest's comfort and sense of security during their stay.

Public feedback highlights several key features and potential drawbacks of the Grand Royal Hotel O'Hare - Chicago. These points are important for locals to consider when making their travel plans.

  • Comfortable Beds and Functional A/C: Two positive highlights consistently mentioned are that the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning in the rooms works well. For travelers primarily looking for a place to sleep and a cool room, these features may be a benefit.

  • Deceptive Online Presence: A major point of concern for guests is the discrepancy between the hotel's online photos and its actual condition. The reviews suggest that the hotel appears to be nice and new in pictures, but in reality, it looks older and may seem abandoned. This can lead to a sense of deception and disappointment for guests upon arrival.

  • Cleanliness and Maintenance Issues: Multiple guests have raised serious concerns about cleanliness. Reports of hair on towels and bedding, stains on chairs, and mold in showers are significant negatives. Additionally, broken amenities like non-functional elevators and an empty pool area are notable drawbacks.

  • Brand Confusion: There is confusion regarding the hotel's brand. The building signage may still display the "Holiday Inn" name, but the hotel is not associated with that chain. This has been described as "false advertising" by a customer who attempted to contact Holiday Inn about their stay. This brand confusion can be misleading for guests.

  • Security and Service: The lack of a proper check-in process, including no ID or credit card verification, has made some guests feel unsafe. The absence of staff at the front desk during check-out further adds to the impression of a lack of attentive service and security.

This hotel has a 2 start rating on Google, but I would give it 1 star.  First of all, google needs to remove the Holiday Inn association from this hotel. I believe it is faulse advertising. I tried calling Holiday Inn, and they do not have this as a listing of their hotels. I would not recommend this hotel. I have attached photos of my room. THERE WAS HAIR ON THE SHEETS AND PILLOWS, STAINS ON THE CHAIRS AND BEDDING. THE SHOWER WAS DISCUSSING WITH MOLD. I was only in the room for a total of 2 hrs due to an American Airlines hotel voucher and rebooking of my am flight. I used bath towels to sleep on. I was here in June.

We got stuck in Chocago due to weather and Delta put us up here. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. It is NOT a holiday inn, but has been taken over by a different company and has not been well maintained. We got the reservation at 8:30 pm, but didn’t get picked up by the shuttle until 10:40. Check in was fast but the rooms were grimy, smelled like a mixture of smoke, mold, and feet. We checked the sheets and they looked like they were not clean or had been slept in, there were spots on the coverlet, and the mattress cover and mattress was stained red-brown in some places. We ended up leaving and just Ubering home.

So mad I didn't read the reviews first like I usually do. This place need to close down. The moment you walk in it looks dirty and smell stale. This place just look like it's full of mold. The price and the pressure of the hot water in the shower were the only good things about this place. I double checked the bed for bed bugs ( no there wasn't any). I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Pool empty and dirty.

This hotel sucks! Stayed for 2 days. No Breakfast (although we were told breakfast was at 7:30) No coffee in the lobby although there were cups and sugar, no cream or sugar for the coffee maker in the room, ants in the bathroom, no soap in the shower or bathroom dispensers, fridge didn't work, grass was over grown, no invoice on checkout, and front desk employees didn't give a shit. Only plus bed was comfortable and the HVAC worked. This is not a Holiday Inn anymore, it has changed hands. If you want to stay in the area, there are many better hotels in a 3 or 5 mile range. I gave it 1 star, because no stars wasn't an option. Signed a "seasoned traveller"!
