The room was excellent new and decorated beautifully. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I have stayed at Hampton Inns all my life when traveling and I have never seen a location any worse. I paid extra for a balcony that overlooks a desolate outdoor power supply field. There was graffiti all over the walls and streets leading to the hotel. On the corner the next block up was what appeared to be the corner brothel with vagrants living in tents on the sidewalk. If I had wanted to walk anywhere in that area I would have only felt safe if I had my concealed gun which I did not as I flew to New Orleans. I could not leave my vehicle (rental) on the street because of safety concerns. I paid $40-45 to park in an area that may have had 20 spaces if that many. I had to park my vehicle a Nissan Rogue in a space that was meant for a compact car. If I had arrived to the hotel during the day I would have never stayed there even if it meant losing the $250 I paid for the room and parking. Shame on Hampton Inn and the owners for not caring more about their patrons.
Hello, Louisiana locals! When planning a visit to the vibrant heart of New Orleans, whether for its lively music scene, delicious cuisine, or unique cultural experiences, choosing the right hotel is key to a memorable trip. Today, we're taking a closer look at a popular option that places you right at the edge of the action: the Hampton Inn New Orleans French Quarter Market Area. This hotel, part of the trusted Hilton brand, aims to provide a comfortable and convenient base for exploring all that the Crescent City has to offer.
Hampton Inn hotels are well-known for their consistent quality, modern amenities, and commitment to guest satisfaction. This particular New Orleans location offers a blend of updated accommodations and a prime spot near some of the city's most beloved attractions. While location can sometimes come with its own set of urban considerations, the hotel strives to provide a secure and pleasant environment for its guests. Let's delve into what makes this Hampton Inn a noteworthy choice for locals and visitors alike, from its proximity to key areas to its services and unique highlights.
The Hampton Inn New Orleans French Quarter Market Area is conveniently located at 501 Elysian Fields Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117, USA. This address places it right on the perimeter of the historic French Quarter, specifically in what's often considered the "Market Area" or near the Marigny neighborhood. This location offers direct and easy access to some of New Orleans' most celebrated spots.
A significant highlight of this hotel's location is its close proximity to Frenchmen Street. As one guest enthusiastically noted, it's "only a block away from Frenchmen St." For those looking to dive into New Orleans' authentic live music scene, this is an unbeatable advantage, allowing guests to walk to numerous clubs and venues without the need for taxis or long strolls. While the hotel offers excellent access to this vibrant area, it's important for guests to be aware of the surrounding urban environment, as one reviewer noted concerns about "graffiti all over the walls and streets leading to the hotel" and "vagrants living in tents on the sidewalk" in the vicinity. This is a common reality in many urban centers, and while the hotel itself strives for a secure environment, guests should exercise standard urban caution, especially at night.
Despite these external observations, the location offers practical accessibility. Being on Elysian Fields Avenue provides relatively easy access to major thoroughfares, connecting guests to other parts of the city and for arrivals from or departures to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). For those driving, the hotel offers self-parking in a secure garage underneath the rooms, which guests appreciate for being able to "get things from your vehicle" and for its security, though it comes at a cost of around $40-45 per day. This managed parking is often a preferred option in New Orleans where street parking can be scarce and less secure. The direct access to Frenchmen Street and the proximity to the historic market area make it a compelling choice for travelers prioritizing the city's cultural heart.

It is crucial to address the significant concerns raised by one reviewer regarding the immediate surrounding area's appearance ("desolate outdoor power supply field," "graffiti," "corner brothel with vagrants living in tents") and perceived safety. While the hotel itself provides a clean and secure interior, potential guests should be aware of the urban context of its exterior surroundings and plan their movements accordingly, especially if walking at night. This highlights the contrast between the hotel's interior quality and its external environment, emphasizing that the positive aspects primarily reside within the hotel property and its immediate block to Frenchmen Street.

While it's a popular choice for tourists, its specific features and location make it an appealing choice for locals too.
Firstly, for a local "staycation" or a night out enjoying New Orleans' renowned music scene, the hotel's unbeatable proximity to Frenchmen Street is a major draw. Being "only a block away" means easy, safe walking access to live music venues without the worry of late-night travel or expensive rideshares. This allows Louisianians to fully immerse themselves in the city's unique culture with unparalleled convenience.
Secondly, for those attending events, concerts, or needing a base for business in or around the French Quarter, the "super clean and large" rooms provide a comfortable and modern retreat. The "secure" on-site parking, while a fee is attached, is a highly valuable amenity in New Orleans, offering peace of mind for those driving in from other parts of the state. This security can be a significant factor for locals who are accustomed to bringing their own vehicles. Furthermore, the "excellent, new and beautifully decorated" rooms, combined with staff who "went above and beyond," ensure a pleasant experience within the hotel itself. While one review highlighted external neighborhood concerns, for locals familiar with navigating urban environments, the benefits of being so close to Frenchmen Street, coupled with the hotel's interior quality and secure parking, often outweigh these considerations. This Hampton Inn provides a strategic and comfortable launching pad for any Louisianian looking to enjoy the heart of New Orleans with convenience and peace of mind.

Mar 14, 2025 · Tina LewisGreat hotel that's only a block away from Frenchman St. Rooms were super clean and large. Hotel staff went above and beyond- special thanks to Antonio at the front desk and Gelda for a clean room. Self parking for $45 was nice because you could get things from your vehicle, and the parking(garage underneath the rooms) was secure. Hilton app made checking in and out easy with the digital key on your phone.
May 27, 2025 · J HoffHampton Inn New Orleans French Quarter Market Area is very well located, just a short walk from the French Quarter. The room was excellent—spacious, clean, and cozy. All appliances, including the air conditioner, worked perfectly. The breakfast was good, and the coffee was delicious. Cons: The toilet seat was smaller than the toilet itself, which was uncomfortable. Also, the shower lacked a handheld showerhead, and the water pressure was very low. Parking is quite expensive, but the parking area itself and the payment system are very well organized and convenient. It would also be great if the TV supported AirPlay or similar screen sharing options.
May 23, 2025 · Alex SkinerThe room was clean, and the bed was harder than I liked, but that's just personal preference. The housekeepers were persistent in wanting to come in and clean and/or give clean towels. We paid for 5 days of parking when we arrived, and on our 4th day, we had a notice on our car saying we needed to pay for parking because they didn't have our car down in the system as paid. The guy at the desk said someone had been writing down the wrong plate numbers and to ignore it. We only ate breakfast here twice, but they seemed to have a nice selection. Never made it to the pool to try it out, but it looked clean.
Apr 30, 2025 · StephanieI stayed here for my recent birthday trip and absolutely fell in love with the location and the staff summer helped me with a smooth check in and everything else that I needed throughout the time that I was here and I was so grateful for that she helped me feel very comfortable and at ease And I will forever be grateful for that. There was also an African-American male on the night staff that I didn’t get his name, but he was absolutely amazing and helpful. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet place to stay but close enough to do activities and be a part of the festivities. There’s so many amazing places to stay in New Orleans but when I come back, I will probably come back here. The breakfast also was not that bad pretty good especially when you need something to eat in the morning without having to leave. 10/10
