Lafitte Hotel and Bar Introduce

Hello, Louisiana locals and all who dream of experiencing the true heart of New Orleans! When it comes to choosing a place to stay in our vibrant city, especially if you want to be right in the thick of the action, the Lafitte Hotel and Bar offers a unique blend of history, excitement, and welcoming hospitality. The Lafitte Hotel and Bar isn't just a place to sleep; it’s a living piece of New Orleans history, with a vibrant atmosphere and a staff dedicated to making your stay exceptional. From its convenient parking to its on-site bar with live music, let's explore what makes this historic establishment a compelling choice for your next adventure in the Crescent City, whether you're traveling solo or with family and friends.

The Lafitte Hotel and Bar boasts an unrivaled location at 1003 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA. This address places it directly on the most famous street in the French Quarter, putting guests right in the heart of New Orleans' legendary nightlife, music, and culinary scene. As one guest enthusiastically noted, "I absolutely loved it!" despite being a woman traveling alone, which speaks to the hotel's secure and welcoming environment even amidst the Bourbon Street crowds.

Its prime location means unparalleled accessibility to the French Quarter's most iconic attractions. You are literally steps away from countless bars, restaurants, and music venues. Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, Cafe Du Monde, and the historic French Market are all just a short, enjoyable walk away, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the rich culture and history of the area without needing transportation.

A significant advantage highlighted by guests, especially for a hotel directly on Bourbon Street, is that "They also have parking which was very convenient." While specific details about the type of parking (valet, self-park, or a nearby lot) are not provided in the reviews, the mere availability of parking in such a densely populated and pedestrian-focused area is a major convenience for those arriving by car. This eliminates the often-stressful search for parking in the French Quarter. For those without a car, taxis and ridesharing services are readily available, and public bus stops are typically within a few blocks, connecting guests to other parts of the city. The hotel's central location on Bourbon Street truly means the vibrant heart of New Orleans is right at your doorstep.

  • Friendly and Welcoming Staff: A consistent highlight in guest reviews is the exceptional staff. Remarks like "The staff was friendly and welcoming!" and "Shana was amazing! She's always smiling and super sweet" demonstrate a commitment to hospitality. • On-Site Bar and Lounge: The hotel features "a small bar on site in case you don’t want to go fight the crowds on the street." This provides a convenient and often more intimate setting for a drink. The presence of a "pianist in the lounge" on some nights offers live music for guests to enjoy.

  • Convenient Parking: As noted by a guest, the hotel "also have parking which was very convenient," a significant perk for a French Quarter location.

The mention of a "huge" balcony suggests private outdoor spaces in some accommodations, perfect for enjoying the Bourbon Street atmosphere.

  • Welcoming for Solo Travelers: The hotel is praised for being a safe and comfortable choice even for "a woman travelling alone," which addresses a common concern for solo adventurers and highlights the secure environment provided by the staff and property.

However, they are likely to offer specials designed to attract guests seeking an authentic French Quarter experience. It's always best to contact the hotel directly or check their official website for the most current and accurate promotions.

Potential promotions or considerations to look for might include:

  • Direct Booking Benefits: Hotels often provide incentives for booking directly through their website or phone, such as exclusive rates, more flexible cancellation policies, or added perks.

  • Seasonal Packages: Given New Orleans' vibrant calendar of events (Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Halloween), the hotel might offer special packages during these popular times, which could include enhanced amenities or bundled experiences.

  • Mid-Week Discounts: To encourage stays during less busy periods, some hotels offer reduced rates for Sunday through Thursday nights.

  • Extended Stay Offers: For guests planning to immerse themselves in New Orleans for several days, there might be discounts for booking longer stays.

  • Historical or Haunted Packages: Given the hotel's history and its "most haunted room" reputation, they might offer unique packages that play into the supernatural allure of New Orleans.

  • Last-Minute Deals: Occasionally, if rooms are available, last-minute booking discounts might pop up.

To ensure you secure the best rate and inquire about any ongoing special offers that might fit your travel plans, contacting the Lafitte Hotel and Bar directly is highly recommended.

Many people said that staying on Bourbon Street would be dangerous for a woman travelling alone. Not only did I stay at this hotel by myself, I absolutely loved it! The staff was friendly and welcoming! They helped me find my way around the French Quarter. They helped make my trip so much better! I got advice as to great local restaurants and attractions. And was told of the local tradition of depositing ashes into the Mississippi. Since I was bringing my husband‘s ashes to leave in New Orleans, I took a portion of them down to the river and made that happen! A couple nights there was a pianist in the lounge and I was able to go enjoy the music and the singing! There’s a small bar on site in case you don’t want to go fight the crowds on the street.

Steer clear of this awful hotel!!! We were there for two nights, and never had a drop of hot water. Nor did any other rooms in the hotel. I could understand if they had an issue and were trying to fix it, but we never saw a single technician. And the staff didn’t even apologize, much less offer any discount. I think the owner must be well aware of the issue, can’t afford to fix it, and is just trying to run the hotel as long as he can without hot water. There is also a bar in the lobby - that can’t be to health and safety standards to operate without hot water. And that was just the worst part of the stay… if you pay to park there, you have to give them your keys and don’t have access to your car throughout your stay, the room was dusty, elevator broken, the bathroom was teeny tiny, and dogs staying in the hotel were barking all night! DON’T STAY HERE!!!!

We stopped in just to look at the beautiful interior and have a drink at the bar. The bartender was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered in New Orleans. We were the only people in this bar. He got pissed when we tried to sit down in the bar chairs at the bar. He told us at anytime 50 people could show up and he doesn’t allow chairs at HIS bar. We left and went across the street to a real bar that was packed. There’s a reason this bar was empty. They need to fire the bartender working last night if they care about guests that visit their establishment. Edit: I appreciate the response from management. I will update my review once we try out the bar again.
