Rooms were fine. Location was in New Jersey, so I mean, you can't change that can you? The best part of the stay was the service. We had an issue with our fridge, maintenance was there in minutes and fixed the issue. But the biggest star was Tim Butler. I didn't meet Tim personally, but I left my laptop and computer bag in the room when we checked out and Tim saw to it personally to make sure my bag was boxed up securely and ready for pick up when UPS came to get it. Every business needs a person like Tim and I am very appreciative for everything he did to make sure my laptop made it back safely to me (in Maryland).
For those seeking accommodations in the vibrant Harrison, New Jersey area, the Hampton Inn & Suites Newark-Harrison-Riverwalk stands as a convenient option, particularly when searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. Located at 100 Passaic Ave, Harrison, NJ 07029, USA, this hotel aims to provide a comfortable and accessible stay for a variety of travelers, from those on business to those exploring the region.
The environment of the Hampton Inn & Suites Newark-Harrison-Riverwalk is characterized by its strategic location and functional design. Situated in Harrison, guests will find themselves in a bustling area with developing infrastructure. The hotel's position, as noted by a guest, is in New Jersey, which is a fixed aspect of its appeal, offering proximity to Newark and its surroundings. The external environment may include views of the Passaic River, which some guests find appealing. However, it's crucial to note, as one reviewer highlighted, that a "river view" can expose guests to "busy train tracks which were incredibly loud," impacting the tranquility of the room environment. This is an important consideration for light sleepers or those seeking a peaceful retreat. The hotel itself generally offers a standard Hampton Inn aesthetic – clean, functional, and designed for efficiency rather than luxurious extravagance. The common areas are typically well-maintained, providing a predictable and familiar atmosphere for guests.
The services at Hampton Inn & Suites Newark-Harrison-Riverwalk often stand out, particularly the staff's dedication. The phone number for inquiries and reservations is (973) 483-1900 or +1 973-483-1900. Guests consistently praise the "friendly and helpful" staff. A prime example of exceptional service comes from a guest who left their laptop and computer bag in the room after checking out. Tim Butler, a staff member, personally ensured the bag was "boxed up securely and ready for pick up when UPS came to get it," demonstrating a level of care and initiative that goes above and beyond. This kind of attentive service is a significant asset for the hotel and contributes positively to the overall guest experience. Maintenance services are also highlighted as prompt and efficient, with an issue with a room's fridge being fixed "in minutes." This responsiveness to guest needs helps to mitigate any inconveniences that might arise during a stay.
However, while the service is a strong point, certain aspects of the hotel's features and amenities have received mixed reviews. The rooms themselves are described as "fine" by one guest, indicating a basic level of comfort. However, a significant point of contention revolves around the "suite" designation. One guest explicitly stated that their room, offered as a suite, "was not a suite, just a large room." This discrepancy in room description can lead to disappointment. Furthermore, the comfort of the room's furnishings is a recurring concern. Seating was described as "very little," comprising "just a desk chair and a cheap couch that was like something you might buy at Target for your dorm room" and deemed "very uncomfortable." The lighting was also noted as "scant and dreary." Mattress comfort was another issue, with the mattress being "way too soft" and the bed making "loud banging noises every time either of us rolled over." The pillows were similarly found to be "flat and uncomfortable." These detailed criticisms regarding room comfort are vital for prospective guests to consider when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" and prioritizing a restful night's sleep.
Parking is a valuable feature at this Hampton Inn, with "Parking on site" being a noted convenience for guests arriving by car. This amenity is particularly beneficial in urban areas where parking can often be challenging and expensive. The hotel also provides breakfast, which is a standard offering at Hampton Inn properties. However, the quality of the breakfast at this specific location has received negative feedback, with one guest describing it as "terrible," citing "scorch parts" on the eggs and muffins that were "like kitchen sponges." This suggests a need for improvement in the culinary offerings to meet guest expectations, especially for a complimentary service that is often a deciding factor for travelers.
When considering promotional information for Hampton Inn & Suites Newark-Harrison-Riverwalk within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the hotel would primarily leverage its strong points: exceptional customer service and convenient location with on-site parking. Testimonials highlighting staff members like Tim Butler, who go above and beyond, would be powerful marketing tools. The accessibility to Newark and surrounding areas, coupled with the benefit of on-site parking, would appeal to both business and leisure travelers. For those looking for a functional and well-connected base rather than a luxurious retreat, this hotel offers a practical solution. Any promotions would likely focus on the value of a Hampton Inn stay, which typically includes complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi, although the quality of the breakfast at this location might need to be addressed or presented with careful phrasing. Special offers for extended stays or packages for local events could also be considered, emphasizing the hotel's strategic position for exploring the region.
However, to provide an objective overview, it's important to acknowledge the areas that require attention. The discrepancies in room descriptions (especially regarding suites) and the comfort of room furnishings are significant factors that could influence guest satisfaction. Any promotional material should accurately reflect the room configurations and manage expectations regarding furniture comfort. Addressing the noise from the train tracks for river-view rooms or offering alternative quiet rooms would also be beneficial. Improving the quality of the complimentary breakfast would greatly enhance the overall guest experience and boost positive reviews. For users on "Hotels Near Of Me" platforms, transparent information about these aspects will help them make informed decisions based on their priorities.
In conclusion, Hampton Inn & Suites Newark-Harrison-Riverwalk offers a mixed but generally serviceable experience for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me." Its standout feature is undeniably the exceptional customer service, exemplified by dedicated staff members and prompt maintenance. The convenient location with on-site parking is another significant advantage. While the comfort and description of some rooms, as well as the breakfast quality, have been points of disappointment for some guests, the consistent positive feedback on staff attentiveness suggests a hotel that genuinely strives to assist its visitors. Prospective guests should weigh the benefits of excellent service and location against potential concerns regarding room comfort and noise when making their booking decisions.

May 15, 2025 · Michael PorterThe staff were friendly and helpful and the location was convenient. Parking on site was great. The room was a total disappointment. It was offered as a suite. It was not a suite, just a large room. There was very little seating, just a desk chair and a cheap couch that was like something you might buy at Target for your dorm room. Very uncomfortable. The lighting was scant and dreary. The mattress was way too soft and the bed made loud banging noises every time either of us rolled over. The pillows were flat and uncomfortable. We had requested a river view, which was nice, but we didn't realize that it exposed us to the busy train tracks which were incredibly loud. Breakfast was terrible; the eggs had scorched parts and the muffins were like kitchen sponges. We will not be staying here again.
May 10, 2025 · Mary GardnerI stayed here for the ncaa men’s basketball tournament and this place is a gem!! I almost didn’t stay here because of the previous reviews but they were wrong! The minute I stepped foot into the lobby, Tim greeted me with the most warm welcome, it honestly felt like a hug! My room was very nice and clean and the housekeeping staff is also amazing!! I really wished that I stayed here the last time I was in Newark but I know now!! There is a train that runs behind the hotel but it didn’t bother me at all, but if you’re a light sleeper you may want to get some earbuds.
Mar 31, 2025 · Lauren HJames was very helpful as well as najee. I called to inform about rates and spoke with James. Upon arrival najee and James had the best hospitality. Very nice welcoming and warming. Was eligible for an upgrade and got a king suite. Update 4/18: Upon checking out i received a final receipt with a charge for parking and additional fees, however I do not drive. I immediately called to discuss this matter with the front desk. I couldn't catch her name but she's the only woman I have seen work the front desk since staying there she was very unpleasant at the end of our conversation. She needs a lesson in phone etiquette to let someone finish their question or statement I felt as though I was being rushed off the phone. Other than this experience I had a lovely stay.
Apr 18, 2025 · Queen LeviI love this hotel. It’s very clean, good breakfast, and excellent staff. I especially would like to give a shout out to Najee and James that work here. They ate so kind and very friendly. If you have any concerns or questions ask for them. I also love the rooms, the beds and the pillows are very comfortable.
