We arrived at what we thought was the Holiday Inn Bar Harbor, but were instead met with an eerie silence. The signs were covered, as if hiding a secret. Construction vehicles sat abandoned like relics of a long-lost project. Not a soul in sight… until, in the distance, one friendly construction worker emerged from the shadows with a kind smile. There’d been no email, no phone call, no text, nothing to tell us the hotel was under renovation. Finally, a sign greeted us with cold indifference: “Your reservation has been upgraded to our sister property.” No directions, only questions and a phone number that, when dialed, offered no answer on the other end. It was also very windy, but to be fair, the view was absolutely stunning, and I’m sure once the renovations are complete, the place will look pretty incredible.

Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor - Acadia Natl Park by IHG Introduce

For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the captivating coastal town of Bar Harbor, Maine, the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor - Acadia Natl Park by IHG, located at 123 Eden St, Bar Harbor, ME 04609, USA, is a property that, once fully operational, promises a comprehensive resort experience. It is important to note, however, that recent information indicates the hotel has been undergoing significant renovations. Prospective guests should verify the current status and availability directly with the hotel prior to making any plans.

Assuming its full, operational state, the environment of the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor is one of its most compelling attributes. Perched overlooking the picturesque Frenchman Bay, the resort offers "absolutely stunning" and "incredible view" from various vantage points, including many of its rooms and common areas. Its location on Eden Street positions it strategically between the bustling downtown Bar Harbor and the entrance to Acadia National Park, offering guests convenient access to both. The resort's grounds are expansive, creating a sense of a true getaway. The presence of a private beach, a marina, and outdoor recreation areas contributes to an immersive coastal environment, inviting guests to enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Desert Island.

In its fully operational capacity, the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor is designed to offer a wide array of services and features, catering to diverse guest needs. The resort typically offers a 24-hour front desk, ensuring guest assistance at all times. Dining is a significant highlight, with the property boasting three on-site restaurants, a bar/lounge, and a poolside bar. While breakfast is generally a buffet available for a fee (around USD 20 per person), it is served daily, offering a convenient dining option. The presence of a marina suggests services for boat owners or those interested in water activities. Complimentary parking is usually available on-site, a significant convenience in Bar Harbor.

The rooms at the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor are designed for comfort and functionality. They are air-conditioned and typically include amenities such as flat-screen TVs with cable channels, mini-fridges, coffee/tea makers, safes, desks, and hair dryers. Many rooms offer garden or ocean views, with "ocean view" rooms being a highly sought-after feature. Room types can vary, including standard rooms, premium rooms, and suites, accommodating different group sizes and preferences. The suites may offer separate living areas and potentially private outdoor decks with views. The hotel is also noted for being pet-friendly, with applicable surcharges, which is a valuable service for travelers with companions.

The resort's recreational facilities are extensive. A major draw is the outdoor heated pool, which guests often praise for its views and ambiance, sometimes including a Tiki bar. There is also an indoor pool, ensuring swimming is possible regardless of the weather. For active guests, the resort features outdoor tennis courts and a well-equipped fitness center with various machines and free weights. A sauna and hot tub are also available for relaxation. For families, the resort typically provides activities for children and a game room, indicating a family-friendly atmosphere. Laundry facilities are available on-site, adding convenience for longer stays.

The property also includes a business center and conference space (reportedly around 3000 square feet), making it suitable for corporate events, meetings, or special occasions. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in rooms and public areas. The resort aims to provide a high level of service, with previous reviews, when the hotel was operational, highlighting "wonderful staff" and a "very clean" environment. It is important to note that the recent experiences mentioned by customers, detailing unannounced renovations, closed facilities, and transfers to sister properties, indicate significant challenges with communication and guest service during this transitional period. This does not reflect the hotel's intended operational standard but is a crucial piece of information for prospective guests. Once the renovations are complete, the hotel aims to return to its previous high standards of service and amenities.

From a promotional standpoint, once fully restored and open, the Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor - Acadia Natl Park by IHG would leverage its stunning "ocean views," comprehensive resort amenities (multiple pools, tennis, fitness, marina), and diverse dining options. Its prime location near Acadia National Park and convenient access to downtown Bar Harbor would be emphasized. The hotel's phone numbers, (207) 288-9723 and +1 207-288-9723, are provided for direct contact. Promotional materials would highlight the potential for an incredible and relaxing stay, perfect for families, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a full-service resort. However, given the recent renovation issues, any promotional messaging must clearly state the current status of operations to avoid disappointment and ensure transparency with guests searching for "Hotels Near Of Me." The promise of a "pretty incredible" place once renovations are complete suggests a future where this Holiday Inn Resort will again be a top-tier choice in Bar Harbor.

I booked the hotel a few days before check-in. However, I find the hotel is actually closed for renovations at the moment. No service, no staff on site. The i call ihg hotline and was told my booking was transferred to another hotel nearby. It was totally disrespectful for hotel to keep the guests unknown for such big change. What’s worst is it took more than 10mins for the hotline to pick up the call, and they don’t know such change either until they couldn’t locate a staff onsite. The agent was not showing any compassion, said “it just happens.” I couldn’t believe this is the service level of ihg. No notice for substantial change of booking, no compassion nor sorry for guests’ anxious feelings. It definitely is the worst experience i had with ihg.

My husband and I stayed here and had a nice experience. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, there’s complimentary laundry services, they cleaned our room daily, they provide nice amenities, it’s very close to downtown bar harbor where all of the shopping and restaurants are, and the bed is really comfortable. Not sure what else you’d be looking for. I knocked 1 star off because the pillows are a little flat for my personal liking but someone else may like them. I also knocked a star off because the walls are thin here so we could hear our neighbors every morning being loud.

Overall, this was a great hotel to stay at in the Bar Harbor area. There is a restaurant onsite as well as a lobster shack by the pool (though it was closed while we were there) and a 24 hour coffee bar. The pool and hot tub are outside and it was a chilly day for us so the hot tub felt great! Pool is heated but it was still pretty cold. My only complaint was that "In Room Service" was advertised so I called down and put in a dinner order. They told me the food would be ready in 20 min. After an hour of waiting I called back down and was told they don't actually deliver the food to the rooms. No one had mentioned this when I put in the order nor did anyone call my room and tell me to come get it! So my food ended up sitting down there for about 15 min. by the time I got it. It was still good, though not super hot. If room service is going to be advertised, it should be made clear that it's not actually room service but rather call ahead ordering.
