When local users search for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Boston area, Hotel Boston often appears as an accessible and value-oriented option, particularly for those looking to stay in the Brighton district. Located at 40 Mt Hood Rd, Boston, MA 02135, USA, this hotel prides itself on offering a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the city.
Hotel Boston is strategically situated on upper Commonwealth Avenue in the Brighton district of Boston. This location is a key highlight for guests, as it provides easy access to public transportation, specifically being on an MBTA subway stop (near Washington St. and Sutherland Rd. Stations on the Green Line). This allows guests to navigate Boston efficiently and affordably, avoiding city traffic and the challenges of parking. Many of Boston's main attractions, including Kenmore Square, the Freedom Trail, the Paul Revere House, and Harvard Square, are generally within 10 miles of the hotel and easily reachable via public transport.
The hotel's immediate vicinity offers convenience to local attractions such as St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Fenway Park (home of the Boston Red Sox), and the campuses of Boston College and Boston University. This makes it a practical choice for visitors attending sporting events, university visits, or those with medical appointments in the Longwood Medical Area. For business travelers, corporate locations like Biogen Idec, Akamai Technologies, and IBM Corporation are also within a reasonable distance.
The environment around the hotel is characterized by the charming brownstones and tree-lined streets typical of the safe Boston/Brighton area. While not in the bustling downtown core, it offers a quieter, more residential feel with convenient access to commercial areas. Some reviews mention that the hotel is an older building, last renovated in 2012, which might imply a more traditional or classic aesthetic rather than a ultra-modern one. However, despite being older, many guests find the rooms to be comfortable and clean.
Hotel Boston offers a range of services and amenities designed to cater to both short-term leisure travelers and those on longer stays. Key offerings include:
Complimentary Continental Breakfast: Guests can start their day with a free breakfast buffet, typically served daily between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Reviews often praise the breakfast offerings, with some mentioning a good variety, including pancakes, waffles, and boiled eggs, although some guests express a desire for more hot protein options like sausages or bacon.
Variety of Room Types: The hotel offers 74 accommodations, including standard rooms for short stays and extended-stay suites with kitchenettes. Suite types can include studios and one-bedroom apartments. Rooms typically feature a full-size bed or two double/queen beds, flat-screen TVs (some 45-inch LED TVs) with digital channels, and complimentary wireless high-speed internet access (100+ Mbps, good for 1-2 people or up to 6 devices). Many rooms also include a microwave, mini-refrigerator, and coffee/tea maker. Some rooms even offer minibars. Bathrooms generally include a shower/bathtub combination and hair dryers.
Free Self-Parking: A significant advantage in a city like Boston, the hotel provides complimentary on-site self-parking for cars. Free bus parking for groups and extended stays is also available. While some sources might mention a parking fee (e.g., $25 per night), other, including the hotel's own website, state it's free. It is always best to confirm this directly with the hotel.
Accessibility Features: The hotel offers facilities for the disabled, including wheelchair-accessible parking and rooms, and some rooms with roll-in showers. Service animals complying with ADA regulations are allowed.
Other Conveniences: A 24-hour front desk (though some sources indicate limited hours for front desk staff, advising guests to contact in advance for late arrivals), laundry facilities, a computer station, free newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, luggage storage, and vending machines are available. Housekeeping is provided on request, with options for towel and bedsheet changes.
Hotel Boston's distinguishing features revolve around its balance of affordability, comfort, and prime location for urban exploration. The availability of kitchenettes in some rooms is a significant advantage for guests on longer stays or those who prefer to prepare their own meals, offering a home-like feel and potential cost savings. The emphasis on customer service is also a strong point, as frequently highlighted in guest reviews. Staff members like Mr. Keith and Helen are singled out for going "above and beyond" to make guests feel welcome and special, providing personalized service and helpful recommendations. This focus on guest satisfaction contributes to a "home-like feeling" noted by returning visitors.
The hotel's direct proximity to the MBTA subway system is perhaps its most compelling feature, making it an excellent choice for tourists who wish to explore Boston without the burden of driving and parking in the city center. Its position in Brighton offers a quieter suburban base while remaining well-connected to major attractions and business hubs. While it is a 2-star or "Tourist Class" property, the positive feedback on staff and location often positions it favorably against higher-rated hotels for guests prioritizing these aspects.
For local users interested in booking Hotel Boston, it's recommended to contact them directly at (617) 383-5876 or +1 617-383-5876 for the most current rates and any potential special offers. As an independent property, its promotions might differ from major chain hotels. However, guests can often find deals through various online travel agencies. The hotel mentions that the average group saves 26.8% when booking, suggesting potential discounts for group reservations. Rates can fluctuate significantly based on seasonality, with April often seeing higher average individual rates.
Check-in time is generally 4:00 PM, and check-out is 11:00 AM, though some sources might indicate a check-in end time of 3:00 AM, with late check-in subject to availability and prior contact with the property. A damage deposit of $75 is often required upon arrival, collected by credit card, and typically reimbursed within 14 days of check-out. The minimum age for check-in is 21 years old. It is important to note that pets are generally not allowed, with the exception of service animals.
While the reviews provided are overwhelmingly positive, focusing on the staff and location, it's always advisable to consider a broader range of recent feedback available online. Some less favorable reviews (not provided in the prompt but found in general searches) have occasionally mentioned issues with older facilities, minor maintenance needs, or occasional cleanliness concerns. For instance, some guests have reported issues with heating hot water, uncomfortable beds, or signs of wear and tear. However, the prominent positive reviews emphasizing the helpfulness of the staff and the excellent location remain a consistent theme. Guests seeking a friendly, accessible, and budget-friendly option with good service in Boston's Brighton area are likely to find Hotel Boston a suitable choice.

Apr 11, 2025 · Amy EHelen, the front desk clerk at our hotel, went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. From the moment we arrived, she greeted us warmly, ensured a smooth check-in, and provided insightful recommendations. After we gave her a rundown of our preferred living situation, Helen made sure to pick the best possible rooms available so that we can have an enjoyable time here during our trip. She was easy talk to and a very friendly person who guided us to our rooms while catering to our every needs. Thanks to Helen’s kindness and dedication, she made our trip easier than we could imagine! Our stay was especially memorable for years to come!!!
Mar 18, 2025 · Nuerding NKeith at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly. We arrived and after booking the wrong room originally, Keith went above and beyond to get us straightened out. Very informative and helpful. Plenty of parking. Clean rooms and a great location. I would recommend staying here.
Apr 18, 2025 · Ryan JacksonOn a cold night in Boston, it is not easy to find a warm, clean and reasonably priced hotel. I was lucky to find this hotel and lucky to meet Mr.Keith Kitson, the customer relations manager at the front desk.He is very friendly, careful, thoughtful, and his fashionable clothes humorous and pleasant speech are impressive! The equally warm room is clean and tidy, which is unexpected! Great! It's just that the non-stop TV sound next door all night affected my sleep! So if you are about to move in, try to keep quiet and prepare your earplugs!
Mar 08, 2025 · Linda XuThis is NOT a hotel, rather, a motel. We were in town for NBNI '25 and wanted to be close to the venue. The location was great, only about 8 minutes from the TRACK at New Balance and walking distance to restaurants. The rooms however were awful. Everything was outdated; room service never came around to collect trash, our neighbors smoked in non-smoking rooms which seeped into our room, people were partying all hours of the night, and parking was $25 a night. I'm confused at these reviews I read because the pictures don't even add up. We will spend the extra money and stay somewhere nicer next year.
