The hotel is old-school in the most modest of forms, but in a very pleasant and unpretentious way. The rooms were clean and had the standard compliment of room service snacks and drinks options. The Decor is a little worn in my room but nothing that refinishing the can't fix, more preferable to have a room with vintage character than another neo-modern luxury room where the wood is actually plastic. I only stayed for one night, but I would definitely recommend people to stay here. The building is very charming. It's a little bit of the Manhattan Skyline here in our Nation's Capital. And breakfast was very good and did it's job quite excellently.
For those of us in Washington D.C. who appreciate places with a true sense of character and history, the Hotel Lombardy is a delightful discovery. It's not just another modern hotel; it's a step back in time, offering an "old-school" charm that is both "modest" and "unpretentious," yet incredibly "pleasant." This boutique hotel, nestled on historic Pennsylvania Avenue, provides a refreshing alternative to the slick, contemporary spaces that sometimes feel a bit too uniform. As one delighted guest noted, it's "more preferable to have a room with vintage character than another neo-modern luxury room where the wood is actually plastic."
The Hotel Lombardy truly embraces its heritage, built in 1929 as private residences. This legacy is reflected in its beautiful red brick and limestone facade, and the interior design, which skillfully blends European elegance with touches of Oriental art and decor. Guests are often struck by the "charming" building, with one even likening it to "a little bit of the Manhattan Skyline here in our Nation's Capital." This unique aesthetic creates an atmosphere that feels both grand and inviting.
Beyond its captivating decor, the Hotel Lombardy is celebrated for its warm hospitality and a focus on providing genuinely memorable experiences. The on-site dining, particularly at Café Lombardy and The Venetian Room Bar, garners high praise. One reviewer raved about the "very tasty" food, specifically the scallops, declaring them "The best scallops I've ever eaten!" The ambiance of the restaurant, with its "Jazz/blue background and lovely lights," creates a "soooo relaxing" setting that makes dining an event in itself. Coupled with "very good" service from a "sweetest lady ever with great recommendations," it's clear that the Hotel Lombardy offers far more than just a place to sleep; it offers a full, enriching experience right here in D.C.

Mar 28, 2025 · Gabriel Dal'MasoI don't usually leave comments but this place is a true gem!!!! We live in the hotel and arrived about 9pm so don't want to go somewhere else. And this is truly beyond my expectations! The food is very tasty, especially the scallops!!! The best scallops I've ever eaten! The atmosphere is soooo relaxing with the Jazz/blue background and lovely lights. The price is very reasonable even cheap with the quality and quantity of food we receive. Better than $100/person restaurants I had in Boston. The service is also very good! Our servicer is the sweetest lady ever with great recommendations.
Jun 10, 2025 · Luna LuoHotel Lombardy is pretty nice, especially being so close to the White House! It has a historic vibe, though the carpet in the rooms isn't the best. The downstairs restaurant is a great spot for breakfast; it really feels like stepping back in time. Service is pretty good, but heads up—the bathtub is wobbly, so watch your step. Overall, had a nice stay!
May 29, 2025 · Yossi LWe had a great stay here!! Awesome rooms that were spot on,, with old world charm mixed with modern amenity's. The staff was great in every way!! price was great.. May 01, 2025 · Don McCannI reserved a 3 night stay months in advance. I reserved a superior king room. When we arrived tonight we were told we had a room with 2 full beds— not even queens. They will move us tomorrow, if we repack our bags. Nothing was offered for the inconvenience. Quite unprofessional unfortunately because the hotel does look to be lovely
