We stayed there for just one night because of the location and price, and everything was smooth. Rooms were fairly clean and beds were comfy. I didn't even realize there would be a full kitchen in the room. The shower's water pressure was also very strong which is a plus. The AC initially wasn't running and I couldn't turn it on with the wall console. But they sent someone to fix it quickly. Overall good bang for the bucks.

Guests consistently highlight the hotel's excellent value for its prime location and the generous size of its rooms. Reviews frequently mention the unexpected benefit of a full kitchen, which allows for greater control over dining expenses and convenience, a definite plus in a city known for its high cost of living. Beyond the in-room amenities, the hotel garners positive feedback for its helpful and professional staff, who are quick to address any concerns, such as an AC issue. Its proximity to iconic landmarks like the National Mall and the Lincoln Memorial, coupled with easy access to the Metro, makes it an ideal launchpad for exploring D.C.

Whether you're hosting relatives who want to experience D.C. like a local, a business traveler needing more than just a bed, or a resident looking for a comfortable urban retreat, the State Plaza Hotel offers a compelling blend of space, convenience, and location. It's a place where historic charm meets modern comfort, providing a welcoming environment right in the heart of Washington D.C.

Location and Accessibility

The State Plaza Hotel is strategically situated at 2117 E St NW, Washington, DC 20037, USA, placing it in the heart of the distinguished Foggy Bottom neighborhood. This location is a significant asset, providing guests with exceptional accessibility to many of D.C.'s most iconic landmarks and important institutions.

One of the most notable aspects of its location is its proximity to the National Mall, which is just two blocks away. This allows guests the convenience of walking to major attractions such as the Lincoln Memorial (approximately 10 minutes walk), the White House, the Washington Monument, and the myriad Smithsonian museums. This direct access to the city's most visited sites makes it incredibly appealing for those eager to immerse themselves in D.C.'s rich history and culture without relying heavily on transportation.

For those utilizing public transportation, the hotel is just a few blocks (approximately a 5-minute walk) from the Foggy Bottom – GWU Metro Station (Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines). This Metro access provides seamless connectivity to other parts of the city, including Capitol Hill, downtown D.C., and various neighborhoods with diverse dining and shopping options. It also offers a direct link to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), making arrivals and departures relatively straightforward for air travelers.

Beyond the tourist attractions, the hotel's location in Foggy Bottom places it firmly within the city's business and financial districts. It's mere minutes from the K Street business corridor, government buildings, international business headquarters, the State Department, World Bank, and the George Washington University campus. This makes it an ideal choice for corporate travelers, academics, and those visiting D.C. for official business.

While D.C. is known for its Metro system, for guests arriving by car, limited valet parking is available (typically for a surcharge). For other airports, Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is approximately 35 km away, and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is about 70 km away, with various shuttle and ride-share options available from these locations. The walkability of the neighborhood, combined with excellent Metro access, makes navigating Washington D.C. from the State Plaza Hotel exceptionally convenient.

Great hotel. Rooms are big, great facilities, with full kitchen equipment in the room. Also there's a little gym in the hotel, though I didn't use it. Staff is nice. Great location. A wholesale supermarket is about 7 minutes walk, with a variety of options to eat. Also, about 10 minutes walk to Lincoln Memorial

The hotel is a 40 year old apartment building converted to a hotel. It shows it's age. The rooms were clean, but dated. We tried the AC in 2 different rooms. Both bedroom AC wall units gave off a toxic smell from the fan burning when running, confirmed by the engineer. We are very allergic and sensitive to chemical smells. We were forced to leave as a result. This ruined our trip, and we were forced to return home. There were no other hotels available for our stay in the area. The hotel front desk staff were very nice and they refunded our money. The bell hops were great. I wish we would have known about the toxic smell before arriving. If it didn't affect our health, we would have stayed. The bathroom is very tiny. There was only one in the room. The kitchen is tiny, but adequate with a gas stove and a refrigerator. I would not recommend this hotel based on the toxic smell from the AC found in 2 different rooms.

We stayed on Thur 3/20~Sat 3/22/‘25. I have to say that lobby and room furnitures are nothing fancy, but it’s ok.. then everything else were sooo great!!! We were so pleased to chose to stay State Plaza Hotel in DC. We met nice hotel desk workers, and all of staff were so helpful and wonderful. We loved their spacious bedroom, so comfortable beds, large windows, huge bathroom, piping hot water, big and deep bathtub to take a hot bath, and also nice decent space of closet. And bonus was a room of kitchen!!!! And also the location of hotel is at heart of DC!!! Most of areas were walking distance. Wowwww, we definitely will be back to stay again at Sate Plaza Hotel!!! Thank you so much!!

First the good. Good location, spacious room, the kitchen and vanity area are nice. Now the bad. The TV was terrible. Not a smart TV and could not get much service. Do not let them put you in Rm 202. We were directly across the hall from the Maid's Laundry Room, and it was so loud as they talked in Spanish at all hours and you are across from dinging of the elevator. Also, there is no room service here, you have to go to their physical cafe.
