Just came to poop, still a royal experience Conclusion first: I wasn’t on a quest for rest – just a quick visit to the Porcelain Throne. And even that felt like a moment of glory worthy of bardic praise. The restroom? Spotless. Elegant. Almost majestic. Like a sacred chamber blessed by the gods of hygiene. No foul odors, no chaos – just peace, cleanliness, and soft toilet paper that whispered “you deserve this.” Sinks worked like enchanted fountains, soap flowed freely, and even the hand towels were folded with care. I half expected a magical creature to hand me a mint on the way out. Bottom line: Came to go, but stayed impressed. If you ever find yourself in DC with an urgent need – Hotel Washington welcomes even the briefest of heroes. Five stars, one flush.

Hotel Washington, located at 515 15th St NW, Washington, DC 20004, USA, is a historic and iconic property that has been a fixture in the heart of the District for nearly a century. Built in 1917, it's renowned not only for its prime location but also for its stunning Beaux-Arts architecture and the legendary VUE Rooftop bar, which offers unparalleled views of the White House and the National Mall.
The hotel aims for a luxury experience, often marketed as a 4 or 5-star establishment. Reviews reflect a mixed bag, with some aspects receiving glowing praise while others highlight areas for improvement. For instance, the "lobby has been upkept," creating a grand initial impression, and the "hotel staff were super nice and helpful." A particularly enthusiastic review even lauded the restrooms as "spotless. Elegant. Almost majestic," speaking volumes about the attention to detail in public areas.
However, feedback regarding the rooms suggests a need for refreshment, with mentions of "scuff marks and stains on the walls and curtains," "loose fixtures," and "very dusty" surfaces. Despite these cosmetic concerns, guests generally found the "linens clean" and the "bed comfy." A significant point to note for potential overnight stays is the "loud music from the rooftop bar...until early morning," which can impact sleep quality for rooms below, especially combined with external "construction going on nearby." Despite these challenges, the hotel's strong points, particularly its vibrant atmosphere and prime location for bar visits, make it a memorable spot in D.C.

Just came to poop, still a royal experience Conclusion first: I wasn’t on a quest for rest – just a quick visit to the Porcelain Throne. Jun 11, 2025 · Der “Wertzeit” TesterThe hotel staff were super nice and helpful. While the lobby has been upkept, the rooms could use some care. Scuff marks and stains on the walls and curtains. Loose fixtures and loud bathroom noises. Totally understand wear and tear is to be expected. But for a 5 star hotel, I was surprised how worn out the room looked. It’s the first thing I noticed. Linens clean, bed comfy, but very dusty room - had to wipe it all down myself. Aside from the room, I barely slept because the music from the rooftop bar was so loud until early morning. There was also construction going on nearby til late, too, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. I wouldn’t stay here for business trips or if you were looking forward to sleep. A fine bar visit, though.
Jun 11, 2025 · Kristin CroftsActually didn’t stay at the hotel, instead we decided to check out the rooftop bar. It was amazing; great drinks. A bit loud for a convo since it was packed with people. Pricey! But a great location for a photo during a sunset in DC.
Jun 10, 2025 · Marcio G.First the good- great location, friendly, helpful staff and the rooftop bar is amazing and was the best part. I expected it to be pricey because it’s in the heart of DC but expect to pay a lot and not get a lot in return. 70 dollars for a small breakfast for two with sausage that was turning foul. They switched our room out of courtesy because of a loud party above (I didn’t request, they offered) but the new room was smaller and lacked the view I reserved. I said I would prefer quiet over a view but feel like we were shorted and not offered much in return. The bathroom is in the middle of the room and it’s open so there’s no privacy. Overall, it’s not a bad place but in my opinion way overpriced for what you get.
May 19, 2025 · AmiA Truly Memorable Stay – Exceptional Service All Around We had an amazing 4-day stay at the Washington Hotel, made even more special by the outstanding service we received. From the moment we checked in, Mary, Emily and Jackie at the reception went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. Their warmth, attentiveness, and willingness to assist with every little detail did not go unnoticed. Even on our last day, they continued to ensure everything ran smoothly for us. Their dedication truly elevated our experience. We also spent time at The Vue Rooftop Bar, where Charles made it a point to look after us. His service was exceptional and added a wonderful touch to our evenings there. Thanks to the incredible staff, this weekend was nothing short of amazing. We’re already looking forward to coming back!
