From the moment we arrived, we encountered several issues. At the front desk, we were informed that a $75 service fee would be added to our room charge. Upon entering our assigned room, 209, we were greeted by housekeeping staff and another individual, which raised concerns about the room's readiness. We also noticed significant maintenance issues, including a wall in disrepair and mold on the ceiling. When we reported these issues to the front desk, the staff member responded rudely, offering us two options: switch to a different room or leave the hotel altogether. Given that we had already been charged for the room and did not want to incur additional expenses or hassle, we opted to switch rooms and were assigned to room 311. However, this room also had significant cleanliness and maintenance issues. The room had a strong, unpleasant odor, stained bed sheets, and dirty walls. In the bathroom, we found used soap bottles, and the bathtub was clogged with hair. We requested new bed sheets from the front desk, but it took four hours for them to be provided, despite repeated requests. During this time, we were forced to purchase cleaning supplies to sanitize the room ourselves. The photos attached document the condition of the room and the efforts we made to clean it. Throughout our stay, we had to repeatedly follow up with the front desk to obtain clean bed sheets, as the initial ones provided were dirty and stained. This morning, we went to check out the breakfast options and were surprised to find none. When I inquired about the breakfast with the front desk staff, he informed me that there was no breakfast available, only a coffee maker. I pointed out that the hotel's website indicated breakfast was offered, but he acknowledged the discrepancy, stating they don't adhere to the website's information. I suggested that the website should be updated to reflect the accurate information. On June 1, 2025, I visited the pool and found it to be in a state of disrepair. The water was green and unappealing, with visibility so poor that the third step was not visible.
For many Tennesseans looking to experience the excitement of Pigeon Forge without breaking the bank, finding a truly budget-friendly accommodation can be a priority. The Howard Johnson by Wyndham Pigeon Forge aims to provide just that: a straightforward and affordable place to stay right on the famous Parkway. While it may not offer all the frills of higher-priced resorts, it serves as a practical base for travelers who prioritize location and cost-effectiveness over luxury amenities. It’s a hotel that understands its niche, catering to those who spend most of their time out exploring the attractions and simply need a comfortable, convenient spot to rest at the end of the day.
Guest experiences at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Pigeon Forge highlight a clear distinction: it's a hotel for a specific type of traveler. As one candid reviewer put it, "if you're just looking for a bed to lay your head at the end of the day while you're here and aren't worried about upgraded rooms and such then this hotel would be okay for you." This sentiment is echoed by those who found the "beds are comfortable," the "TV works and has HBO," and the "AC works good," providing essential comforts for a basic stay. The affordability is a recurring pro, with one guest noting, "it was only $32 a night which was okay considering we didn't plan on staying in the room much."
However, it's also important to manage expectations, as some reviews point to areas where the hotel might fall short for those anticipating a full-service experience. Issues with room cleanliness, maintenance, and consistency in amenities like breakfast and pool upkeep have been noted. For instance, the lack of full blankets and washcloths initially, a non-functional coffee pot in some rooms, and concerns about pool cleanliness were mentioned. The breakfast situation also seems to be a point of divergence from online descriptions, with staff reportedly stating that full breakfast is not available despite website claims. A $75 service fee/damage deposit is also a point of note upon check-in. Despite these challenges, the hotel's prime location on the Parkway, the availability of both indoor and outdoor pools (even if their cleanliness varies), and its budget-friendly pricing remain consistent draws for those on a tight budget who prioritize location and basic functionality.

Jun 01, 2025 · Autumn WrightFor anyone curious about the Howard Johsnon by Wyndham in Pigeon Forge, I'd say if you're just looking for a bed to lay your head at the end of the day while you're here and aren't worried about upgraded rooms and such then this hotel would be okay for you. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and it was only $32 a night which was okay considering we didn't plan on staying in the room much. Here are the pros and cons: Cons: 1. They only put flat sheets on the beds to cover up with. You have to ask the front desk for actual blankets. 2. They also didn't give us any wash clothes. Only towels. So we had go make a trip to Dollar Tree. 3. The coffee pot didn't work in the room (303). 4. Mold in bathroom and around the tub. 5. Only one trash can. 6. Pools aren't very clean. 7. No ice buckets for the rooms and the only ice machine that works is on the bottom floor by the indoor pool. 8. $75 damage deposit required at time of check-in. Pros: 1. TV works and has HBO. 2. AC works good. 3. Fridge and microwave work. 4. Beds are comfortable. 5. No bugs seen. 6. Convenient location on the Parkway. 7. Affordable if you're on a budget. 8. Indoor & outdoor pool available.
Jun 19, 2025 · Bobby CoferDo not stay here for any reason. If you have no other choice. Walmart has tents for 20 bucks . Does anyone know how to contact the property owner? UPDATE: STILL NO REFUND JUST A RUN AROUND. HORRIBLE MOTEL! DO NOT STAY HERE. This was absolutely the worst motel we've ever been to and we travel a lot. First off, when we book the rooms they told us the pools were working. When we got there the pools aren't available. After standing at the front for almost an hour The guy finally came to check his in. He had an attitude and was most unpersonable receptionist I have ever met. The motel looks like something out of the ghetto. If it's not broke it doesn't work. I would not recommend this motel to anyone. Even if you're broke. Just sleep in your car. You'd be better off. We canceled our reservation. Upon seeing the motel. The property manager said that we would get a full refund within 7 days. Still waiting. This is a sorry excuse for a motel. It looks more like crack dungeon. Would not recommend.
