For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the vibrant downtown area of Lewiston, Maine, the Inn at the Agora presents a truly distinctive and inviting option. Located at 1 Walnut St, Lewiston, ME 04240, USA, this establishment is far from a typical chain hotel. Instead, it offers a charming boutique inn experience, housed within a beautifully restored historic mansion, originally built in the mid-1800s by Captain Albert Kelsey and later serving as the rectory to St. Patrick's Church.
The environment of the Inn at the Agora is one of timeless elegance and cozy comfort. The "beautiful old house now Inn" has been meticulously "well-kept," preserving its historical charm while infusing it with modern amenities. Situated "in the heart of Lewiston," the inn overlooks historic Kennedy Park, where Presidential nominee John F. Kennedy once spoke. This central location provides guests with convenient access to the city's diverse urban landscape, including its cultural venues, local restaurants, and the revitalized former mill town. This level of individualized attention sets it apart from larger hotels. Check-in is available from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with arrangements for late check-in if needed, and check-out is by 11:00 AM.
A standout feature of the Inn at the Agora is its incredible pet-friendliness. It is renowned as an excellent place to stay with a dog, as highlighted by a guest who travels with a 55 lb dog. The inn welcomes "one pet up to 30 lbs in designated rooms" for a "pet fee" (approximately $25 per pet/per night), and both dogs and cats are welcome. The staff are proactive in accommodating pets, even providing a "water bowl and dog treats" in the room. Pets are allowed in common areas when on a leash, and the adjacent Kennedy Park offers "plenty of space to walk a dog." There is also a pet waste station on the property.

Apr 11, 2025 · Neil McAslanWe travel with our dog (55 lbs), so we always look for a dog-friendly lodging. I can’t think of any better place to stay with a dog in the area! I contacted the Inn before making reservation to make sure we can get a dog-friendly room. The innkeeper got back to me promptly. There is a pet fee, which we could pay on site. This historic house is well-kept, and large common area has everything we need and beyond: guest fridge, water server, glasses and mugs, snacks (even cup noodle), amenities, board games, etc. Our room was spacious and very tidy, and there were slippers, bath robes, and even a water bowl and dog treats! In addition to the room we stayed, our dog was allowed to be around the common areas (must be on leash). There is a big park in front, so plenty of space to walk a dog. They have a fenced yard too. The innkeeper, Sara was very helpful and friendly. She responded to my texts very promptly. We will absolutely come back if/when we get a chance to be in the area again!
Aug 07, 2024 · Fumio SomekiI drove into the neighborhood and was astonished by the homeless wandering the immediate area, a park across the street from the inn loaded with homeless people and others parked there in the evening hours doing what ever they are doing throughout the night. Not advisable to walk the sidewalk. Inside the inn looked great, nice room, Antiques throughout the interior which I appreciated. Quiet. The Inn offers a discounted breakfast card, one on the other side of the park, I drove over there, great place to eat, home town food and company, easy to take up a conversation with the locals.
Aug 24, 2024 · John PeteckThis is a historical inn converted from a rectory. The building has a lot of history but has been well maintained. The staff are attentive to guest comfort and offer a well stocked pantry with snacks and tea and coffee 24/7. The common spaces are comfortable and well appointed. Cleanliness was evident and the gleason room that I stayed in was comfortable. A very large bathroom.
Jul 20, 2024 · Ingrid HillCame to town on business. The Inn was minutes from the office I was visiting and near a great Italian bakery. Staff at the Inn was friendly and helpful when we needed items printed for an event held on the property. Room was spacious and clean. They take care to make sure you're comfortable.
