NO THIS LOCATION DID NOT RESPOND!!! LOOK AT THE HOTEL RESPONSE TO ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS. THEY NEVER MAKE THINGS RIGHT. THEY ONLY DEFEND THEMSELVES (implying that customers are crazy unless the review is positive). I booked a same-day reservation through a 3rd party based on inaccurate information given by a male/female employee at this location concerning the check-in time. I asked the General Manager (Sam) to refund, change dates or offer any help within 1 HOUR of making the reservation and was told they would just keep my money. She (Sam) was extremely rude. The third party I booked with (Priceline) stated that they would issue a refund if the hotel released the funds but Sam refused to release the funds or direct my concern to the owner of this franchise. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS INDEPENDENTLY OWNED LOCATION. Corporate does not have access to this location's billing system. This is the worst customer service I have ever received from a hotel. RUN AWAY! They kept my money and I never stayed at their property. This review will only be removed if these thieves give me back my money. I did not use their hotel.

Econo Lodge Introduce

For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Auburn, Maine area, the Econo Lodge at 1777 Washington St N Building B, Auburn, ME 04210, USA, presents itself as a straightforward and budget-friendly accommodation option. As part of the Econo Lodge brand, it is designed to offer essential comforts and convenient services for travelers, whether they are on a road trip, visiting family, or on a business trip in Central Maine.

The environment of this Econo Lodge is typical of a roadside hotel, strategically located for accessibility. Situated off Interstate 95, also known as the Maine Turnpike, it offers "easy access directly off Interstate 95." This makes it a practical choice for travelers passing through or those using Auburn as a base to explore the wider region. While it may not be in a secluded, scenic environment, its location provides quick connections to local businesses, dining establishments, and popular attractions within Auburn and the neighboring city of Lewiston. The hotel itself comprises a single building with two levels, originally built in 1984, and notably, it underwent a full renovation in 2021, suggesting updated interiors and amenities.

Econo Lodge focuses on providing fundamental services to ensure a comfortable stay. A key highlight, consistently praised by guests, is the "wonderful" or "free continental breakfast" served daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. This includes staple items like "homemade muffins from scratch," offering a convenient start to the day. The hotel also provides "free in-room WiFi," allowing guests to stay connected, and free self-parking, including ample space for RVs, buses, and trucks, which is a significant advantage for travelers with larger vehicles. The front desk operates 24 hours a day, ensuring that assistance is always available. The staff is often described as "helpful" and "amazing," contributing positively to the guest experience.

Regarding room features, Econo Lodge offers 56 air-conditioned guest rooms, all accessible via exterior corridors. These rooms are designed for practicality and comfort, and typically include:

  • Comfortable Beds: Available with either 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds, ensuring a good night's sleep. Bedsheets are provided.

  • Private Bathrooms: Each room has a private bathroom with a bathtub or shower, complimentary toiletries, and a hair dryer.

  • Kitchenette Essentials: All rooms come with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee/tea maker, allowing guests to store snacks, reheat meals, and prepare hot beverages.

  • Work and Entertainment: A desk with a laptop workspace and a flat-screen TV with cable channels are standard. Free WiFi is available in all rooms.

  • Conveniences: Irons and ironing boards are provided for guest use, and daily housekeeping ensures rooms are tidy. Air conditioning and heating are also standard.

  • Outdoor Access: Some rooms may feature a private patio or yard, as indicated by some property descriptions, adding a small outdoor space.

For general amenities, the Econo Lodge includes a fitness center, offering a place for guests to maintain their workout routine. There's also an outdoor pool (seasonal), a vending machine for quick snacks and drinks, coffee/tea available in a common area, and an outdoor picnic area with outdoor furniture. Self-service laundry facilities are available, which is particularly useful for longer stays or for families. The property was "renovated in 2021," suggesting a more modern and well-maintained appearance. The hotel also has connecting/adjoining rooms available upon request, subject to availability, which can be convenient for families or groups traveling together.

The Econo Lodge in Auburn also focuses on accessibility, with features like wheelchair-accessible parking, paths of travel, public washrooms, registration desks, and rooms with wheelchair-width doorways. Braille/raised signage and handrails in stairways are also provided, although it's important to note there is no elevator in the building.

While one review highlights a severe negative experience regarding booking and customer service, it's crucial to consider this within the context of other reviews that praise the "clean rooms," "wonderful breakfast," and "amazing staff." Such discrepancies can sometimes occur with independently owned and operated franchises, where customer service can vary. However, the consistent positive feedback on staff and breakfast suggests that many guests have a satisfactory stay.

From a promotional standpoint, Econo Lodge Auburn would emphasize its value proposition and convenience for "Hotels Near Of Me" searches. Key marketing points would include:

  • Strategic Location: Highlighting its easy access from Interstate 95/Maine Turnpike, making it an ideal stop for road trippers and those visiting the Lewiston-Auburn area for business or leisure. It's close to major attractions like the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, Norway Savings Bank Arena, Lost Valley Brewpub, and the Auburn Mall.

  • Affordable Comfort: Positioning itself as a budget-friendly option that doesn't compromise on essential comforts, such as clean rooms, free Wi-Fi, and a comfortable bed.

  • Complimentary Breakfast: Strongly promoting the "wonderful" and "free continental breakfast" as a significant value-add for guests.

  • Essential Amenities: Featuring the fitness center, seasonal outdoor pool, and on-site laundry facilities, which enhance the convenience and enjoyment of a stay.

  • Family and Business Friendly: Highlighting amenities like microwaves and refrigerators in rooms, the availability of connecting rooms, and free RV/truck parking, catering to diverse traveler needs.

  • Nearby Dining & Shopping: Promoting the proximity to various restaurants (e.g., Dunkin' Donuts, Subway, McDonald's, local pizza places) and shopping opportunities (Auburn Mall, local boutiques), providing guests with easy access to amenities beyond the hotel.

  • Renovated Property: Emphasizing the 2021 renovation to assure guests of modern and refreshed accommodations.

In conclusion, Econo Lodge in Auburn, ME, is positioned as a reliable and economical choice for travelers seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in the central Maine region. While individual experiences can vary, the hotel generally offers a clean, comfortable, and convenient stay with a focus on value-added services like free breakfast and Wi-Fi, all within easy reach of local attractions and major transportation routes.

1st time in Maine. This hotel was the best spot for our travel itinerary. Hotel desk staff are amazing ! I want to shoutout Amanda in housekeeping. She was super sweet and basically was a friend for 1st time visitors. She made sure to have my room stocked up with everything and also made us welcomed!

The floor was a little dirty but the bathtub and shower curtain we disgusting! I dropped the soap in the non-draining tub and didn’t want to grab for it in the dingy water. Also turned by feet black. I let the lady know at the front desk. She was very nice about it but didn’t seem to be surprised. I also got in at 11 pm and there were several people out smoking on the balconies and in general loitering around. Room luckily did not smell of cigarette smoke. It’s a good location and was close to the airport and better than sleeping in a car. That’s about all to recommend it!

Place is okay for a last minute booking. We had a clean room with a clean bathroom. Slight smell of cigarette smoke unfortunately in a smoke free property. Beds sucked. Wifi sucked. But it was clean and quiet. And the continental breakfast was GREAT actually. For a low rated hotel, it was a fantastic spread of hot and cold breakfast items. Including a waffle maker.
