This had to be one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in about 100 due to work and travel. First off, Im now home and have a few bumps behind my leg and on my hand. Most likely bed bugs (I know but I got them in Ohio at a place similar). When you walk in to the front office there was signs all over the desk including “Pool is closed” “Restaurant is closed” “Entertainment is closed” “No Deposit No Room” “Please wait for staff” “No pets allowed” “Shower is hard to use” If I didn’t book third party I would have just left and got my money back. The rooms look like dungeons and are disgusting. I did inspect the bed and didn’t see bed bugs (I check every where I go) but they are easy to miss of course in blankets / under the mattress. Whatever you do, do NOT stay here. It’s an absolute nightmare through and though.
For local users and travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Lewiston, Maine area, the Ramada by Wyndham Lewiston Hotel & Conference Center, located at 490 Pleasant St, Lewiston, ME 04240, USA, with phone numbers (207) 406-3386 and +1 207-406-3386, requires a highly cautious and informed approach. Based on extensive public information, including recent customer reviews and news reports, this hotel has faced significant operational challenges and safety concerns, leading to its condemnation by the City of Lewiston on multiple occasions. As of recent updates, particularly in January 2025, the hotel has been condemned for a second time within a year due to serious safety issues, specifically relating to its fire alarm and suppression systems.
Environment and Current Status:
The Ramada by Wyndham Lewiston Hotel & Conference Center is situated on Pleasant Street, offering relatively easy access from Interstate 95 (Exit 80). While its location might seem convenient for reaching various parts of Lewiston and Auburn, such as Bates College, the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, and local medical facilities, the immediate and operational environment of the hotel is a critical factor for any prospective guest. Recent reports indicate that the hotel has been shut down due to a lack of proper heating causing temperature sensors to malfunction and a pipe in the fire suppression system to burst, leading to flooding. This follows a previous condemnation in April 2024 for a broken fire alarm system. These issues point to a serious state of disrepair and neglect, making the environment far from what one would expect from a standard hotel. Reports from news outlets confirm that all hotel guests were relocated to other accommodations due to these closures. The property has also been utilized for temporary housing, including for asylum seekers, which can contribute to a complex operational environment.
Services and Amenities (Reported vs. Actual):
Advertisements and official brand listings for Ramada properties generally promote a range of services and amenities, typically including free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, an indoor pool, a fitness center, and meeting/conference facilities. However, customer reviews and news reports for this specific Ramada by Wyndham Lewiston Hotel & Conference Center strongly contradict these expected offerings. Guests have reported prominent signs at the front desk stating: "Pool is closed," "Restaurant is closed," "Entertainment is closed," and "No pets allowed" (despite some online listings stating it is pet-friendly, this direct sign is a definitive contradiction). Other concerning notices have included "Shower is hard to use." The repeated condemnations mean that many, if not all, advertised services and facilities would be unavailable due to safety closures. While a typical Ramada would offer basic amenities like a 24-hour front desk, in this case, guests have reported issues with staff conduct and accessibility. The availability of a promised free breakfast has also been questioned, with reports of very limited or no options provided. The overall picture painted by guest feedback suggests a severe degradation of expected services, making any stay here highly unreliable and potentially uncomfortable.
Features and Room Conditions:
The features of the Ramada by Wyndham Lewiston Hotel & Conference Center, as described by recent guests, are deeply troubling. Reviews consistently use terms like "dungeons," "disgusting," and "nightmare" to describe the rooms. Direct quotes from customers reveal severe issues: "The rooms look like dungeons and are disgusting. I did inspect the bed and didn’t see bed bugs (I check everywhere I go) but they are easy to miss of course in blankets / under the mattress. Whatever you do, do NOT stay here. It’s an absolute nightmare through and though." Another review mentions "bumps behind my leg and on my hand. Most likely bed bugs." Other reported room issues include smoking heaters, showers with only one temperature due to broken nozzles, and generally poor maintenance. One guest stated, "In my room, the heater was smoking and the shower had only one temperature because the nozzle wouldn't rotate." Furthermore, guests have reported unkempt exteriors, unplowed parking lots, trash, and a pervasive smell of cigarettes and marijuana throughout the hotel. The hotel's alleged policy of not refunding for issues reported after 20 minutes of check-in, as cited by a frustrated guest, further exacerbates concerns about guest satisfaction and accountability. These issues collectively indicate that the basic features expected of a lodging establishment, such as cleanliness, functionality, and safety, are severely compromised or entirely absent.
Promotional Information and Advice for "Hotels Near Of Me" Searches:
The available information strongly suggests that any promotional material or online listing for the Ramada by Wyndham Lewiston Hotel & Conference Center should be viewed with extreme skepticism. While Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the parent company, typically aims to uphold certain brand standards, the reality at this specific location appears to fall far short. For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," it is critical to be aware of the severe negative feedback and, more importantly, the official condemnation status of this property. The hotel's continued listing on booking platforms, despite its reported issues and closures, is a point of confusion for potential guests. Given the current information, including the fact that the hotel has been condemned multiple times by city authorities for safety violations and has been forced to relocate guests, it is highly advisable for anyone searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Lewiston to consider alternative accommodations. The extremely low price point, as noted by a reviewer ("There is a reason this hotel is one of the cheapest hotels listed in the entire state"), is likely a reflection of its dire condition rather than a genuine value proposition. The overwhelming consensus from recent guest experiences and official reports strongly advises against staying at this establishment due to significant safety, cleanliness, and operational concerns. Prospective guests are urged to prioritize their safety and comfort by choosing a different hotel in the Lewiston Auburn Area.

Nov 25, 2024 · DugasUpdate February 1. Hotel has been condemned a second time by the city of Lewiston There is a reason this hotel is one of the cheapest hotels listed in the entire state. The staff is rude. The rooms have issues. In my room, the heater was smoking and the shower had only one temperature because the nozzle wouldn't rotate. And this sorry hotel has a policy if you dont tell them about the issues within 20 minutes, they will NOT give you another room, nor refund. In other words, they blame you for their deficiencies. And finally, a word of caution: THIS HOTEL WAS RECENTLY CONDEMMED BY THE CITY OF LEWISTON FOR FAILING TO MEET MINIMUM CODE REQUIREMENTS. BEWARE OF THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!! I certainly won't be staying here again
Feb 01, 2025 · Million Peanuts (Million Peanuts)This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Don't do it. You deserve better. The neighborhood is sketchy. The parking lot dark. Waited 40 minutes at front desk before an employee arrived to check us in. Don't bother ringing the bell, they aren't coming. Light switches worked some of the time. Only a little blood dried in the corner of the bathroom. A few penny sized holes in the wall. Large lumpy white stain on one wall. Shower head broken and dangling straight down. Cobwebs in ceilings and walls. Burns and stains across the sticky carpet. Thin walls. Dark halls caution tape duck tape across one exit. It is worth 20 dollars to stay anywhere else. Yikes.
Oct 20, 2024 · Christopher RichardsThis has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Our room was smelly, carpet has sticky residue on it, the security latch did not even work, it was loose, and the T.V. would not work. When we checked with the desk, we were told that a technical was coming, they never showed up. I told the front desk to give us another room or cancel our stay and we would go elsewhere. They did finally give us another room, far from the front area and when we asked about the pool, they said it was being fixed, and there was no restaurant open there. I asked a police officer who was in the hallway on my way back to the room about the restaurant, and he said it has not been open in years, and the pool the same. The only thing I will give them credit for was the bed was clean. The officer suggested a local restaurant called the Grid Iron Grill & Sports Bar. The food was excellent, people were very friendly, and was the best thing in that town. Their breakfast is a joke, mini rice crispy squares, a few rolls, their entire breakfast set up could fit on a cafeteria tray. The place needs major work, and if this is what Wyndham hotel chain considers a newly remodeled place, I will never use one of their hotels in the future. My impression is that they only have a small number of rooms to rent and probably pull parts from the others to keep the few able to rent out. A total disgrace and I feel a scam especially on Wyndham's for giving it high marks when it clearly does not deserve them. Steer clear of this place.
Oct 07, 2024 · Martin Grams SrThought it was abandoned when we first pulled up. The outside is very rundown. My 2 rooms for the week was supposed to be $1500 total but they wanted $1800.Not handicap accessible as I was traveling with 2 elderly people one disabled. The first room I was in the shower didn't work, they moved us to connecting rooms with the 2 elderly people I was traveling with, which I wanted in the first place. Then there was mold on our shower curtains and in the shower. The bed was comfy but the pillows were stained and gross. The pool is not handicap accessible so the other people I was traveling with couldn't use the pool. The hot tub didn't work. Neither did the sauna. the bathroom in the pool room was disgusting and no toilet paper. There is mold on the walls and the ceiling of the pool room. Someone got sick by the hot tub and the just cleaned it up with towels and didn't sanitize it. I'm pretty sure they would have thrown the puke towels in the basket if people were not in the pool. The pool is not properly marked for depth 6 feet is more like 7 feet and 8 feet is more like 9-10 feet. Someone stole an disabled elderly man's car keys and the staff did nothing. The person who stole the keys kept setting the alarm off thinking it was funny. The poor man had to call someone on a Saturday night to have it disconnected. There were people fighting across the hall from us, he threatened to kill his girlfriend and the staff did nothing. There was a hole in the other room I rented, looked like someone punched the wall. I told the front desk and they said they would have someone fix it the next day and it still wasn't fixed by the time we checked out. The door in my room was falling off the hinge they sent someone to fix it but they didn't fix it right and it kept happening, so we had lift up to close it completely and those doors are very heavy. The hallway smelled old and musty. In my opinion this place needs to be shut down and remodeled. I will not be going back here.i don't recommend this place to anyone. It is the worst place I've ever stayed in.
