A pretty tired and old lodging location tucked away in the middle of nothing. For a place to sleep it works, but doesn't offer much else. Self service additional towels and bedding, no food offered for breakfast, strange outdated decor and minimalist features provide little to be desired. Staff was pleasant and stuff was clean, but you could tell the house is not in a position for upgrades or renovations.
Within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, The Lodge at Poland Spring Resort presents a unique and budget-conscious option for travelers seeking to explore the picturesque region of Poland, Maine. Located at 640 Maine St, Poland, ME 04274, USA, The Lodge functions as a satellite motel of the larger, historic Poland Spring Resort, offering a more minimalist approach to lodging while providing access to the extensive amenities of the main resort. This establishment caters to guests who prioritize affordability and a base for exploring the area, embracing a distinct charm that reflects its long history.
The Lodge at Poland Spring Resort is part of a sprawling, historic property nestled on 500 acres, offering stunning vistas of the White Mountains and a tranquil setting. While The Lodge itself is described by some as being "pretty tired and old," and not in a position for major upgrades or renovations, it offers a clean and functional environment for sleeping. The decor is noted as somewhat strange and outdated, with minimalist features. However, it's crucial to understand that The Lodge is a separate building from the main resort. Guests checking in must go to the proper resort main building to retrieve their keys, a detail important for planning, especially after a long drive. A significant aspect of The Lodge's environment is its safety; the building is locked, providing a sense of security for guests. While there are typically no staff onsite in The Lodge building itself, besides an occasional person in the snack bar, the proximity to the main resort means that assistance is readily available by calling the main resort line, with staff noted for being very quick to respond. Rooms in The Lodge, though not freshly renovated, are generally considered decent and clean. Some guests have noted issues with wrinkled carpeting and occasional ants, suggesting an older building in a natural setting. Despite these observations, many guests appreciate the value offered at this price point. All rooms in The Lodge, like other accommodations at Poland Spring Resort, are smoke-free and include air-conditioning, heating, private baths, a refrigerator, and a flat-screen satellite television. Free WiFi is also available in each room.
While The Lodge itself offers limited in-house services, its primary value lies in providing guests with full access to the comprehensive services and amenities of the entire Poland Spring Resort. This means that despite The Lodge not offering breakfast directly, guests can enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast at the Maine Inn, part of the main resort (though some reviews contradict this, so it's advisable to confirm breakfast inclusion based on the specific booking package, as there may be a surcharge). The resort boasts multiple food options, making dining easy and convenient, with restaurants like Cyndi's Dockside Restaurant, Mel's Hilltop Restaurant, and Rick's Pub offering diverse menus, including great vegetarian options. The cauliflower bites at Cyndi's, for instance, have been praised. Guests at The Lodge also benefit from the helpful and pleasant staff, even if they are primarily located at the main resort building. Their responsiveness to calls for assistance, such as sending someone over quickly, is a significant plus. An added touch within The Lodge building itself is a shared kitchen, which can be very convenient for guests. Other services available across the resort include a gift shop, ATM/banking services, and laundry facilities.
The true advantage of staying at The Lodge at Poland Spring Resort is the extensive array of features and activities available across the entire Poland Spring Resort property. This makes it an attractive option for guests looking for a vacation destination with a wide range of recreational pursuits. Key features include:

Mar 16, 2024 · Chad FillionMy review will be written in consideration of the pricing, which was very affordable. Plan ahead: if you get a room at the Lodge and show up there to check in you will not be able to get inside the building and you will be greeted with a sign on the door. It’s a satellite motel that belongs to the Poland Springs resort. So you need to go to the proper resort main building to get your key. Not saying this is a bad thing, just something to note if you’re showing up after a long tiring drive and every minute before reaching your bed feels like eternity. I actually think it’s a plus side that the building is locked, it does feel quite safe. If I wasn’t clear, there are no staff onsite in this building besides occasionally a person in the snack bar. However, if you call the main resort line they are very quick to send people over. There are people around, and they are very responsive (which is GREAT because if they hadn’t been it would have felt pretty desolate I think.) The room was decent, everything seemed clean but they certainly need to replace the carpeting because it was quite wrinkled and not fresh looking. There was a little issue with ants in our room, and I saw a few in the hallways crawling on the walls as well. This is probably one of the better rooms I’ve stayed in at this price lol, it could have been a lot worse! Very glad there were multiple food options owned by the resort, it made things very easy for us and the restaurants even had great vegetarian options! The cauliflower bites at Cyndi’s were fantastic, and our whole meal was overall a great value. I also like the added touch of a shared kitchen in the building.
Sep 04, 2023 · J. CéI love this place. The rooms were way nicer than even they say. Clean, comfortable, affordable. With a room to swap out towels and use of a shared kitchen ect. I give it a 10/10. If it was practical I'd rent a room year round lol
Feb 19, 2024 · Darrell VaughnGreat spot to rest and reset. The managers are friendly, rooms are kept clean, very safe area/parking. It has that small town feel that illustrates Maine perfectly. I’d recommend this place to anybody traveling through.
