Promotions or Special Offers

Due to the nature of Marquette House New Orleans as a budget-friendly hostel focusing on "cheap rent" and basic accommodation, specific, formalized "promotions" in the traditional hotel sense (like seasonal discounts or package deals) are not commonly advertised in public data. Hostels typically maintain competitive pricing year-round based on their operating model. However, the inherent "cheap rent" itself acts as an ongoing value proposition.

For the most accurate and up-to-date pricing, including any potential long-term stay discounts or special rates for groups (though not explicitly mentioned in reviews, it's common for hostels), it is always recommended to contact Marquette House New Orleans directly. They would be able to provide the exact cost for your desired duration and any specific deals they might have running at the time of your inquiry. Given the mention of "overpaid rent" and specific payment durations in one review, clarifying all payment terms and policies upfront is highly advisable when booking your stay.

Conclusion: Why Marquette House is Suitable for Locals

For Louisiana locals, Marquette House New Orleans offers a distinctive and highly practical option for experiencing the city, especially if you're on a tight budget or seeking a less conventional stay. While it's clear from reviews that this is not a luxury hotel and comes with its own set of expectations, it excels in providing affordable lodging and a unique social atmosphere.

The "cheap rent" is undoubtedly the biggest draw for anyone looking to save money while exploring New Orleans. For locals planning a quick overnight trip, a stay for a festival, or perhaps housing out-of-town friends who are budget-conscious, Marquette House provides a very cost-effective alternative to pricier hotels. Its **shared room** setup also fosters a "cool hang," making it an interesting choice if you're looking to meet new people or enjoy a communal travel experience right here in your home state.

The location on Carondelet Street, while not in the immediate French Quarter, is still highly convenient. Its proximity to the streetcar line means easy and inexpensive access to the French Quarter, Garden District, and other popular areas without the hassle of driving and parking in congested tourist zones. For essentials, the nearby "all night convenience store with good fried chicken" and a "big supermarket on the bus line" are incredibly useful. The presence of an "all night bar nearby with good burgers, pool and laundry" also highlights practical amenities within walking distance, making daily life easier during your stay.

However, it's crucial for locals to set realistic expectations. As one reviewer advised, "Don't expect a 5 star hotel and you will be perfectly fine." The review mentioning "LOTS of bed bugs" and issues with "overpaid rent" should certainly be noted, urging potential guests to verify current conditions and clarify all payment policies directly with the establishment. On the flip side, another guest noted they "never got bed bug bites and never got anything stolen," attributing their positive experience to understanding it was a hostel and keeping valuables secure. If you understand and accept the hostel model – which prioritizes affordability and basic, shared facilities over luxury and extensive private amenities – then Marquette House New Orleans can be a perfectly viable and "top notch" choice for its price and location. It's an opportunity to experience New Orleans from a different, more grassroots perspective, ideal for the savvy local traveler.

I have stayed at the Marquette house on two separate occasions for a total of 5 nights. I felt the need to leave a review because there are so many bad ones, and really, this place isn't bad. Front desk staff is friendly. Rooms are not new by any means but for the price and location they are top notch. I never got bed bug bites and never got anything stolen out of the fridge or my room, but then again, I knew it was a hostel and kept all of my valuables in my locked vehicle. Don't expect a 5 star hotel and you will be perfectly fine.

The hostel was really clean and quite. I was a nice place to lay your head down at night after I night of many tours. I believe I paid $50 a night which is really cheap. Parking is on the side of the house, and not on any street. The dorms are divided for men and women. The staff was friendly and helped with accommodations.

As a hostel, you go in with the assumption of knowing it won't be as luxurious as a hotel. I was comfortable at all times which is the important bit. However, the advertised WiFi did not extend to my accommodation which severely disrupted my trip, requiring me to spend money on international mobile data. For the most part, staff were great. But one member of staff made me feel belittled. I asked him to explain the routine for doing a check out when staff weren't around. To him it was an obvious answer and he scoffed at me, causing the customer behind me to giggle. It not being obvious to me was my reason for going to him in the first place and he should have had more awareness of that. For my short stay, it was acceptable. The location to other services and avenues is good. But I don't see myself returning after my negative experiences.

The staff was nice when there was a mixup/issue with one of my reservations and they helped me with whatever problems I had. The facilities, however, we're sub-par compared to other hostels I've stayed at. One of the men's dorms smelled atrocious upon entry, the carpet felt gross, and the atmosphere was not inviting. Bathroom facilities were okay. It was worth it for my time at Mardi Gras for a place to crash, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
