This was the worst motel I have ever stayed in, and it wasn’t even that cheap! There were lamps in the room that were for decoration - no outlet to plug them into. The shower wouldn’t stop dripping. There was a weird stain of something on the floor and on the side of the doorframe going into the bathroom. The tv wasn’t plugged in either (nothing was) but there was like no way to actually plug it in as the port to plug it into seemed attached to the outlet that had been removed from the wall. The fridge wasn’t clean, there were stains in the bedding, and there was what appeared to be a cigarette burn in one of the curtains. I don’t think they really did much to clean this room other than providing new soap and towels but I’m not sure if the towels were even clean - we didn’t stay long enough to use them. We also were never given the WiFi password even though we asked multiple times. There was also only one working outlet to plug things into. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay, go somewhere else - this place isn’t worth it!
Introduction / Overview
For residents of Illinois, especially those in the Chicago metropolitan area, finding a hotel for a short, functional stay can often be a challenge that balances location and price. The MOTEL EDGEBROOK CHICAGO NORTH SHORE BY OYO presents itself as a budget-conscious option on the city's North Side. This motel falls into a category of lodging that prioritizes affordability and a no-frills approach to hospitality. It is a place that primarily serves the need for a simple, inexpensive place to sleep for the night. As a local, it's important to set realistic expectations for such an establishment. This is not a luxury hotel or a destination for a weekend getaway. It is a very basic, economical motel. Public information and customer reviews suggest that the motel is a place of function, where the most important factor is the price of the room. The reviews from real customers highlight a number of issues with the rooms themselves, including cleanliness, maintenance problems like dripping faucets, and a general lack of functional amenities. Customers mention unplugged appliances and lighting issues, along with what appear to be cleanliness concerns. The staff, however, is noted as being pleasant. This suggests that the value of the motel lies in its role as a last-resort, low-cost option for a very short stay when other choices are either unavailable or too expensive. For a local user, this motel is a tool to be used with a specific purpose in mind: securing the absolute cheapest available room for a night, with the understanding that the experience will be very minimal and may require a degree of self-sufficiency.
Location and Accessibility
The MOTEL EDGEBROOK CHICAGO NORTH SHORE BY OYO is located at 6401 W Touhy Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. This address places it on the far northwest side of Chicago, near the border with the suburbs of Niles and Lincolnwood. For an Illinois local, this location is significant. Touhy Avenue is a major thoroughfare that connects many of the North Shore suburbs to the city. The motel is situated relatively close to key transit points and attractions, making it accessible for those traveling by car. It is a short drive from major highways and is also near public bus routes. The location offers convenience for those needing to be in the area for events or visits. It is approximately a 10-minute drive from attractions like the Allstate Arena and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, making it a potential option for event-goers on a tight budget. The motel is also within a reasonable driving distance of Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), a significant plus for travelers with early morning or late-night flights. However, its suburban-border location means it is not in a bustling, walkable neighborhood, and guests will likely need a car to get around. Free self-parking is available on site, a major advantage for guests who are driving. The location's key strength is its proximity to major roads and key suburban attractions, offering a functional base for those with a specific purpose in the area.

Jul 31, 2025 · Jamie FotaOne star hotel, because the only thing not visibly dirty was the bed and maybe the toilet. The tub had a drainage issue and so it could never get completely clean, and there was visible dust and or food particles on the desk and the floor underneath. There weren't enough face towels and the wall outlet was virtually inaccessible. The lamps and appliances (like the mini fridge) were all unplugged, though. So having to plug up things was fun. The staff was pleasant, however. It works if you're going for the purpose of it being the cheapest hotel you can find that day, however. I saw no bugs, so that was a good sign.
Jun 07, 2025 · Jacara DavisI was truly dish-hearted when my family went to this location last Saturday. The rooms were disgusting. The pungent smell of smoke was present in both rooms that I rented. One of the rooms had a hole in the wall. Booth rooms appeared to not be clean. There were concerns his first loud noises, and It was just an overall unpleasant experience there. The strengths were great parking and not far from downtown

May 24, 2025 · Brandie TinklepaughThis is honestly the worst place I’ve ever seen. The room was extremely small, the bed was filthy, and the whole space was just dirty all over. I made a reservation over the phone, and when I got there, they made me pay before I was even allowed to see the room. They told me it would be $50, but then charged $70. Total scam. When I got the key and opened the room, it smelled like actual sewage. I went back to the front desk and told the guy — he just shrugged and said, “That’s fine, I’ll give you another room.” The second room was even worse. I gave the key back immediately. They refused to refund me, even though I didn’t stay. Don’t trust them — even if you try to fight for your money back, they won’t give it to you. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place — OYO Hotel Edgebrook Chicago North Shore and any other place under this name. It’s not worth the stress or the money. Good luck to anyone thinking about staying here.
