My wife and I had a delightful stay at the Omni Royal Orleans, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff’s warmth and professionalism made us feel truly welcome. Every employee we encountered was courteous, attentive, and eager to ensure our comfort, which added a special touch to our trip. The hotel’s restaurant and bar were highlights of our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, especially with the live jazz music that brought such a quintessential New Orleans flair to our evenings. We were also impressed by the hotel’s commitment to preserving the historic charm of the building during its renovations. It’s clear that great care was taken to maintain the character and elegance of the original structure, which we deeply appreciated as it added to the authenticity of our stay. Another thoughtful feature was the hotel’s luggage storage service, which allowed us to securely store our bags before check-in and after check-out. This made exploring the city stress-free and convenient. Our only minor suggestion would be to clean or refurbish the furniture near the grand piano, as it appeared heavily stained and soiled. However, this small detail did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the property. We would highly recommend the Omni Royal Orleans to anyone visiting New Orleans. Our stay was pleasant, enjoyable, and filled with wonderful memories. We look forward to returning!

We all know that the French Quarter is the beating heart of New Orleans, a place where history, music, and culinary delights converge. Finding a hotel that complements this unique atmosphere while providing comfort and convenience is key. The Omni Royal Orleans consistently delivers on this front, offering a sophisticated retreat amidst the lively streets. From its commitment to preserving historic charm during renovations to its vibrant on-site restaurant with live jazz, this hotel is designed to immerse you in the quintessential New Orleans experience. Let's explore what makes the Omni Royal Orleans a prime choice for your next visit, offering insights from a local perspective on why it’s a perfect fit for your needs.

The Omni Royal Orleans boasts an undeniably prime and highly coveted location at 621 St Louis St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA. This address places it squarely "in the middle of the French Quarter," making it an ideal base for immersing yourself in the historic charm and vibrant energy of New Orleans' most famous neighborhood. For locals, this means unparalleled access to everything that makes the French Quarter legendary, right outside your doorstep.

Its central French Quarter location translates into exceptional accessibility. Guests can easily walk to countless iconic attractions: Bourbon Street for its lively nightlife and music, Jackson Square with St. Louis Cathedral, Cafe Du Monde for beignets, and a myriad of art galleries, antique shops, and world-class restaurants. The convenience of being able to step out and immediately be amidst the unique architecture and bustling street life is a major draw.

Beyond the immediate French Quarter, the hotel's central position also offers good connectivity to other parts of the city. While walking is often the preferred mode of transport within the Quarter, ride-sharing services and streetcar lines are readily available nearby, connecting guests to areas like the Garden District, Warehouse District, and beyond. For those driving from other parts of Louisiana, the hotel's central location in the city makes it relatively accessible, although navigating and parking within the French Quarter can be challenging, making the hotel's services (like valet, if offered) even more valuable. For arrivals from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), various shuttle and ride-share options provide a direct route to this well-known landmark. The "Location can't be beat," as one reviewer succinctly puts it, emphasizing its advantage as a "great base to be able to explore the city."

The Omni Royal Orleans provides a suite of services designed to ensure a comfortable, convenient, and truly luxurious stay for its guests, living up to its reputation as a premier French Quarter hotel.

  • Exceptional Staff Service: A standout feature, repeatedly praised by guests. • Room Service: Given its luxurious nature, room service is also a standard offering, allowing guests to dine in the comfort and privacy of their rooms.

The Omni Royal Orleans is rich with features and highlights that consistently impress its guests, blending historic charm with modern comfort.

  • Unbeatable French Quarter Location: As repeatedly emphasized by guests, its position "in the middle of the French Quarter" is a paramount highlight. This allows for unparalleled ease of exploration, placing guests steps away from iconic landmarks, vibrant music venues, and world-renowned dining.
  • Historic Charm & Preserved Elegance: Guests were "impressed by the hotel’s commitment to preserving the historic charm of the building during its renovations." The "great care was taken to maintain the character and elegance of the original structure," which "added to the authenticity of our stay." The hotel and rooms are described as "done in a classic style, which is not a bad thing," appealing to those who appreciate a timeless aesthetic.
  • Vibrant Live Jazz Experience: The on-site restaurant and bar offering "live jazz music" is a quintessential New Orleans highlight, creating a memorable and atmospheric evening experience within the hotel.
  • Comfortable Rooms and Beds: Despite being an old building, guests confirm "Rooms were clean and beds comfortable," ensuring a restful night's sleep in a classic setting.

  • "Delightful" and "Enjoyable" Overall Stay: The recurring sentiment from guests is one of high satisfaction, describing their stay as "pleasant, enjoyable, and filled with wonderful memories," leading to strong recommendations and a desire to return.

While one minor suggestion was to "clean or refurbish the furniture near the grand piano" due to stains, this did not detract from the "overall enjoyment of the property," indicating that the overwhelming positive attributes outweigh minor imperfections.

Great location in the middle of the French Quarter. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Service was beautiful. Roof top Pool was nice to beat the heat. Keeping mind it is a old building. The hotel and rooms are done in a classic style, which is not a bad thing. Location can't be beat and it is a great base to be able to explore the city.

The pool was not heated our entire stay (6 days) for spring break. I brought it to the attention of the front desk and they told me they had someone working on it. 4 days later, still not working. It was like a cold plunge. We booked the hotel based on the rooftop pool for the kids and the gym (which I’ll get to next). My kids and other guests didn’t even use it because they all complained about how cold it was. I used it as a contrast ice bath. Sunbath and then jump in and freeze, then sunbath again. They also had construction going on above the pool. It wasn’t too bad but it was happening all day up there. Now.. the gym (I have posted a pic from the website and from my trip). As a fitness family, my wife and I picked the hotel because they had a state of the art gym listed on the website. Cybex machines are listed and shown in pictures. When we got there, I looked around the gym and wondered what was so different. It looked empty compared to the pictures on the website. No cybex weight machines (there’s 5 or so on the website), just two benches, a cable and dumbbells (which were at least up to 75lbs, which is great), It wasn’t a bad gym by any means but it is not state of the art and it’s not what they advertise on their website. I could have stayed at a cheaper hotel in the French quarter and had a heated pool and a basic gym and been fine. The service at the hotel was great. The rooms are very quiet and room service is always on points The rib room cocktails were good. We had one bartender who was quite rude and seemed stressed but the other two were great. The food at the rib room is fine. However, we split a $50-60 rib eye steak ala carte. Nothing else came with it. It is definitely not a $50 plus type of steak. I have eaten some amazing steaks in Seattle and Los Angeles like this but I have to say, rib room was one of the more bland meals in a week of amazing New Orleans food. I really wish they did not bait and switch their gym, had updated the website and been honest about the pool not being heated. We would’ve found a cheaper hotel with a pool, hot tub and basic gym for a lot cheaper than what we decided to pay at the Omni for the amenities they offered.

Possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Concierge great! Doorman/Bell person great! Restaurant bar staff/ wait staff at the rib room? Horrible! Arrived at hotel staying in suite 616 I forget name of room. Turned room over first night and never came back. I guess you're supposed to receive discount vouchers for restaurant but we never received them. I guess they figured if you're staying in a $2k room for 3 days you don't need them. Had to ask for them. Anyway back to restaurant staff. We met our friends in restaurant. They had already ate but will the plates and glasses were still at table and they hadn't paid yet cause wait staff never came back. Wife and I were seated for 30 minutes and no wait staff showed. I went to the bar to order drinks and it was like bar tenders didn't want to serve me. One finally said can I help you? I order a martini and a double of tequila. Bar was not packed and they had 2 tenders. It took a half hour to get my drinks. Paid tab immediately! It was $78 dollars for 2 basic drinks. Myself and the 3 couples we were with will never stay at this hotel again. I've stayed in New Orleans more than a couple times and this hotel by far has been the worse. Don't stay here.
