I stayed there for a bit in room 14. Soon as i walked in i felt unsafe. The door to the room is flimsy and not sturdy with only 1 terrible lock, anybody during the might could break that down. Theres a note to not drink the water, which means i have to purchase water, and quite frankly dont want to brush my teeth or shower. The water smells like rust. The bed was stained with yellow circles as well as the pillows, my blanket smelled of drugs and had ash burns through it. Under my bed was empty cigarette boxes. The TV is so ancient its like a prehistoric relic, only 10 channels and the quality with the tv is horrible. The bathroom has no door, so theres no privacy, and it has no light, just a big tall dopey lamp to light up the bathroom. The shower head is broken, and the tub is stained yellow. The toilet doesnt flush properly. The sink water when turned on is litterally tinted yellow. Then theres another awkward room with a heater on the wall. The heat never actually leaves the room even though theres no foors in this god damn place because next to it is a broken window shut out by plastic and duct tape. Theres a window looking over directly over out bed which seems creepy, this place is already sketchy as it is. Theres some weird ass basement right outside our room and i heard weird creepy noises all night. Do NOT come here! Guy also came demanding us to pay when we already did we had to show him our receipts. It shouldnt be $52 for a night here. more like $5.20. they clearly dont do anything with the money they are given. the water in the sink literally comes out yellow. but hey its okay cuz they offer free breakfast like bagels and muffins right. Wifi is so unusable
For individuals exploring options on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform in the Wilkes-Barre area, the OYO Hotel Wilkes-Barre East, located at 1 Pittston Blvd, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, USA, may appear as a listing. It is essential for potential guests to have a comprehensive and objective understanding of what a stay at this establishment might entail, drawing directly from reported guest experiences found online. The hotel's contact number is (570) 846-2957 or +1 570-846-2957 for direct inquiries.
When considering the environment of OYO Hotel Wilkes-Barre East, reviews from past guests paint a picture that suggests significant concerns regarding safety, cleanliness, and overall upkeep. Multiple accounts describe rooms feeling "unsafe" due to "flimsy and not sturdy" doors with "only 1 terrible lock." This raises immediate questions about personal security for guests. The general cleanliness of the rooms is also a prominent issue. Guests have reported "stained" beds and pillows with "yellow circles," and blankets that "smelled of drugs and had ash burns through it." Additionally, "empty cigarette boxes" were reportedly found under beds, indicating a potential lack of thorough cleaning and maintenance. The condition of the bathrooms is also a recurring concern, with descriptions of "no door," "no light" requiring an external lamp for illumination, a "broken shower head," a "stained yellow" tub, and a toilet that "doesn't flush properly." Furthermore, the water quality is frequently mentioned as problematic, with reports of water smelling like "rust" and appearing "literally tinted yellow" from the sink, leading to a note advising against drinking the water. Such conditions suggest a significant challenge in maintaining a desirable and hygienic environment for guests.
The services at OYO Hotel Wilkes-Barre East, as detailed by customer reviews, also present several areas of concern. Reports indicate "horrible service and very rude" interactions with staff. A particularly alarming account details a guest being repeatedly interrupted and having another guest, who "constantly blew the breaker," allowed into their room numerous times without their presence or permission by management, even being given a key. This practice is a severe breach of guest privacy and security. Complaints at the front desk regarding this issue were met with an explanation that the other guest was "given the a key so she can fix the breaker," leading the original guest to immediately move their belongings. Other service-related issues include staff allegedly being rude when discussing service animals, despite appropriate documentation, and making false claims about not providing non-smoking rooms to guests with service animals. Furthermore, guests reported being told it was "our problem not theirs" when snow needed shoveling in front of their door, indicating a lack of basic guest support. Instances of being wrongly asked to pay when payment was already made also point to potential issues with administrative processes.
Regarding features, the hotel purportedly offers certain amenities, but their functionality and quality are heavily criticized in reviews. While there is a mention of a "TV," it is described as "ancient," a "prehistoric relic" with "only 10 channels" and "horrible" quality, with a "messed up" cord and spotty reception. Internet access is also reported as "spotty" and "unusable." Despite a note about "free breakfast like bagels and muffins," the overall negative experiences with other basic amenities like water quality and room conditions suggest that this offering may not significantly mitigate the wider issues. The heating system is described as working but "sucked at the same time," and a "broken window shut out by plastic and duct tape" would severely compromise climate control and safety. The presence of a "weird ass basement right outside our room" and "weird creepy noises all night" also adds to an unsettling atmosphere. The lack of privacy due to a missing bathroom door and a window directly overlooking the bed further detracts from the comfort and security of the stay.
Concerning promotional information, while the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform would list pricing, the overwhelming sentiment from guest reviews is that the value offered is extremely poor. One guest stated, "It shouldn't be $52 for a night here. more like $5.20," suggesting that the current pricing is not justified by the conditions and services provided. The reviews strongly advise against staying at this hotel, with phrases like "Do NOT come here!" and "Don't ever stay there" being prominent. The critical nature of the feedback, highlighting fundamental issues with safety, hygiene, and service, overshadows any potential promotional offerings. The inability to drink tap water, the necessity to purchase bottled water, and the lack of basic amenities like toilet paper and towels, which guests had to acquire themselves, indicate that the perceived value is extremely low.
In summary, while OYO Hotel Wilkes-Barre East is listed on platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me," potential guests should be aware of the significant concerns consistently raised in online reviews. The environment is described as compromised in terms of safety and cleanliness, with issues ranging from flimsy door locks and stained bedding to unhygienic bathrooms and unusable water. The services are reportedly poor, marked by rudeness, breaches of privacy (such as allowing other guests into rooms without permission), and an unhelpful attitude towards guest needs. The features, including TV, internet, and even basic heating, are described as dysfunctional or substandard. The general consensus from numerous guests is that the hotel offers extremely poor value for money, with many strongly advising against booking a stay. It is crucial for travelers to consider these objective accounts when making a decision about accommodation in the Wilkes-Barre area, particularly when utilizing platforms designed to help them find hotels near their location.

Mar 27, 2025 · Cadence KaleHorrible service and very rude. When we booked a few day stay during the holidays the owner/supervisor told us if we need to extend we can't get the room for $33.00 per night again. The room we were in was the worst. The breaker box for the entire strip of rooms was in our room 11 in WB location. We were interrupted numerous times a day because another guest constantly blew the breaker using 6 different things to cook with plugged in and the vacuum cleaner. They allowed that guest into our room numerous times when she blew the breaker. We left and came back after taking the dog for a ride to a pet store for some items and we found her in our room and our door wide open. We know it was locked because I locked it before we left. I asked her if I could help her and she said she was let in by management to flip the breaker and she was told she could come in there any time she wanted. I complained at the front desk to the owner and he said that the other guest was given the a key so she can fix the breaker. We immediately moved our belongings to my car. We had our Service Dog with us. Yes service dog for a medical condition he is trained for. They allowed us to have him due to the visible vest, papers etc that we have for him showing he is a Service dog. We are not supposed to questioned about what types of services he provides as a medical service dog. They were rude when we told them he is trained for a medical condition acting as if they needed to know what for etc. My daughter was harassed by guests when she was walking the dog in the designated area we were asked to walk him in. We requested a non smoking room and they refused to give us a non smoking room claiming they don't give them to people with Service animals/pets which is a lie because another person had a dog in a non smoking room. We stayed to ourselves and still go harassed the entire time we were there. Never again will we stay at the OYO Hotel anywhere. Totally disrespectful, rude and very shady especially allowing other guests into our room without us there and with her own key. I told them she can pay for the rest of our stay then. The shower had an orange coating in it. We had to wear flip-flops to shower. Water was not drinkable. We bought bottled water to drink and brush our teeth, no toilet paper or towels. We had to shovel the side walk in front of our door because they told us it was our problem not theirs. The heat worked but sucked at the same time. The TV barely kept a channel in and the internet was spotty. The cord tonthe TV was messed up too. *Don't ever stay there*
Mar 24, 2025 · Mariska's MomStayed here recently with my daughter in room 15. I drove here from Texas to visit for the holidays. The heat did not work. Neither did the fridge or microwave. Made a deposit and have been fighting to get it back. They said it was processed on the 4th, but nothing has gone through. Not getting any help from the people who took my money. And I'm out $50 because my deposit was never returned to me. This has been the worst experience I have ever encountered like this.
Jan 19, 2025 · Cameron RumboPictures are VERY misleading to say the least. For the price, we knew not to expect the Hilton, but these rooms were completely disgusting. Extremely dirty and smelled awful. The heat did not work and we were given an old electric heater almost as dirty as the room. It was posted that the water was not fit for human consumption. And was told the toilet handle had to be played with to get it to flush. We had booked for 2 nights, but did not stay. Was told by the owner that we would get a refund through the booking agency. But was refused by the booking company saying the hotel would not agree to it. While the hotel blamed the booking company. Avoid at all cost! UPDATE: Reached out to OYO as requested in their reply and never heard back. Shocking!
Jan 17, 2025 · M MyersMOTEL FROM HELL. We waited an hour for the front desk to check us in. Even made the reservation a head of time. Room was straight up dirty. No heat. THE HEATER WAS BROKEN. And its winter that night was in the negatives. We were shivering, even got a cold. No refund, literally nothing. Also lied about the room rates. I can go on and on about this disgusting place. Wouldn’t recommend to my worse enemy..
