The perfect, quiet getaway inside of suburbia. This trip was supposed to be a trip with my husband. However, a last minute pet issue kept him home. Instead of canceling, he encouraged me to continue with the plan to go. I definitely needed that trip. When I arrived, it was raining. However, that was a sign (to me) that this was meant for me to shut in and slowdown. This place was very peaceful and offered immense privacy. However, eateries and the grocery store was less than 10 minutes away. It felt good to be away from the hustle and bustle. And when I returned home, I felt recharged. I have told my family and friends about this place. I definitely plan to make another trip here within this year. This is a great place to reset and reconnect with a partner or solo. There is cellular service, heat and AC. There are no televisions and minimum electrical outlets. Hiking trails are 10-45 minutes (or longer depending where you want to hike) drive away.

Ramsden Lake Introduce

For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with a desire to truly disconnect and immerse themselves in nature without sacrificing comfort, Ramsden Lake in Stone Mountain, GA, presents a compelling and unique resort experience. Located at 1102 Stewart Mill Rd, Stone Mountain, GA 30087, USA, Ramsden Lake is not a traditional hotel but rather a bespoke glamping retreat, offering a serene escape that feels worlds away from the urban hustle, yet remains remarkably accessible to suburban conveniences.

While a direct phone number for reservations isn't commonly listed as a primary contact for this type of unique accommodation, guests typically book through online platforms like Hipcamp or Airbnb, where direct communication with the hosts (often praised for being great communicators) is facilitated. This modern approach to booking aligns with the personalized, boutique nature of the resort.

The environment at Ramsden Lake is its most defining feature. Described by guests as "the perfect, quiet getaway inside of suburbia" and a "hidden oasis," it spans 46 private acres, encompassing an 8-acre private lake. This expansive natural setting offers immense privacy and a deeply peaceful atmosphere. Guests consistently highlight the feeling of being away from the "hustle and bustle" and leaving feeling "recharged." The property is rich with wildlife, offering breathtaking sunset views over the lake, creating an idyllic backdrop for relaxation and reconnection. Despite its secluded feel, essential amenities like eateries and grocery stores are conveniently less than 10 minutes away, striking an ideal balance between escape and accessibility.

Ramsden Lake offers a distinctive array of services and experiences tailored for a glamping retreat. The hosts are frequently commended for their excellent communication and ensuring guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay. This personalized approach to hospitality enhances the feeling of a true getaway. While traditional hotel services like daily housekeeping might be minimal or on request, the focus is on providing a self-sufficient and intimate experience. The option to purchase firewood and have it delivered, or have special add-ons like birthday bundles or celebration packages, demonstrates a thoughtful attention to enhancing the guest experience.

The features of Ramsden Lake are diverse and thoughtfully designed to blend outdoor adventure with luxurious comfort. Accommodations vary, including luxurious bell tents, unique airstreams, and even treehouses, each offering a distinct glamping experience. For instance, a stay in the "Dogwood tent" might include an indoor fireplace, an outdoor fire pit, and a hammock, all perfect for relaxing, even in winter. Some accommodations, like "The Carpenter Canvas Cabin," boast even more lavish features such as a clawfoot soaking tub with hot running water, an outdoor hot water copper rain shower, and a Berkey drinking water filtration system, along with private lake access and a canoe.

Common amenities across many units include:

  • Comfortable queen-size beds, often with organic mattresses.
  • Indoor fireplaces or wood-burning stoves for warmth during cooler months.
  • Outdoor fire pits, perfect for s'mores and stargazing.
  • Access to the private 8-acre lake with complimentary use of paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes.
  • Basic kitchenette setups, including a fridge (some with good freezers), microwave, and coffee maker, along with cooking utensils, cast iron pots and pans for campfire cooking, and basic cooking oil.
  • Private bathrooms, sometimes featuring composting toilets, and indoor/outdoor showers with hot water.
  • Heat and AC units to ensure comfort regardless of the season.
  • Cellular service, allowing guests to stay connected if desired, though the lack of televisions and minimal electrical outlets encourages a true digital detox.
  • Amenities like a Swedish sauna, available at some sites, add to the luxurious and restorative experience.

It's important for prospective guests to note a few practical recommendations, especially for winter stays, such as bringing a heated blanket and bug spray, as some critters might make their way in. Also, for winter, water pipes might need to be turned off at night to prevent freezing, so having a gallon of water on hand is a helpful tip.

Ramsden Lake also offers recreational opportunities beyond the immediate lakeside activities. While hiking trails are typically a 10-45 minute drive away (including Stone Mountain Park itself, which is minutes away), guests can also explore the historic Stone Mountain quarry on-site. The property features walking paths, and there's even the possibility of horseback riding, adding to the outdoor activities available.

As a unique glamping destination, Ramsden Lake positions itself not just as lodging, but as an experience. Promotional information often emphasizes its exclusivity, the "unexpected waterfront oasis" feel, and the opportunity to "reset and reconnect," whether solo or with a partner. Given its appeal as a quiet getaway, targeted promotions could include:

  • Wellness Retreat Packages: Combining stays with yoga, meditation, or nature therapy sessions.
  • Romantic Getaway Bundles: Highlighting features like the Swedish sauna, private lake access, and fire pits for couples.
  • Seasonal Specials: Offering discounts or unique amenities tailored to spring blooms, summer lakeside fun, fall foliage, or cozy winter escapes.
  • "Digital Detox" or "Unplug and Recharge" Packages: Emphasizing the lack of TVs and minimal outlets as a selling point for those seeking a break from screens.
  • Local Partnership Promotions: Collaborating with nearby Stone Mountain Park for discounted access to attractions or local eateries for unique dining experiences.
  • Extended Stay Discounts: Encouraging longer, more immersive stays for deeper relaxation.
  • Pet-Friendly Stays: As some accommodations allow pets, highlighting this feature with clear pet fee information can attract a specific market.

In conclusion, Ramsden Lake is an exceptional choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for those in the Stone Mountain/Atlanta area seeking a unique and restorative escape. It masterfully blends the rustic charm of camping with the comfort and luxury of a boutique resort. Its private lake, diverse and well-appointed glamping accommodations, and emphasis on privacy and tranquility create an unparalleled environment for guests to unwind, reconnect with nature, and feel completely recharged, all while remaining conveniently close to suburban amenities.

We stayed in the Dogwood tent. Loved our stay here!! It was so nice! Even though it was winter we enjoyed it. The indoor fire place was nice! The outdoor fire pit and hammock were so much fun and perfect for relaxing. We also enjoyed the Swedish sauna!! Few recommendations to anyone going… especially if you’re going in the winter..bring a heated blanket. Ours was a saving grace for cold nights. Also bring bug spray…. A few critters do make their way in. At night the water has to be turned off so the pipes don’t freeze, so bring a gallon of water just in case. I would highly recommend! The hosts are great communicators and ensured we had everything we needed.

Just stayed at Ramsden Lake for a little silence and solitude retreat and it was truly an awesome experience. Many many small and intentional choices have been made so that guests experience genuine hospitality. The rooms / tents are gorgeous. Building the fires is fun. The owner is kind and communicative. What a hidden gem. Bringing my family back this year no doubt. Maybe a getaway with my bride as well. Book with sincere confidence, coming from a guy who loves travel, sights and always is looking for hidden gems for lodging experiences. I am not being compensated for this review in any way, just genuinely ecstatic about my time at Ramsden Lake.

We stayed in tent 11. It was a little bit of a walk down, but not bad. The temperatures outside were low 20s, but our tent stayed nice and warm. Between the wood burning stove and the heating mat on the bed, we were nice and cozy at night. The set up was perfect for cooking a basic meal, but we opted for pizza delivery and met the driver at the gate. The best part of our stay was the floating sauna. We loved the experience of looking out onto the lake while relaxing in the sauna. It was too cold for a cold water plunge, but maybe next time! We already booked another stay for next month.

My husband and I stayed in the Lake Tent at Ramsden Lake for a 2-day getaway. It was the most quaint and peaceful place we’ve ever stayed! The tent was clean, bed was comfortable, & the tree rain shower was amazing! We can’t wait to come back!
