For individuals and families searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Red Roof Inn Pittsburgh - McKnight Rd at 4607 McKnight Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, USA, is a listed option. The hotel can be reached at (412) 415-3867 or mobile +1 412-415-3867. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the hotel's offerings, its environment, and crucial insights derived from recent customer feedback, which is particularly vital for making informed travel decisions.
Environment and Location:
The Red Roof Inn Pittsburgh - McKnight Rd is strategically positioned on McKnight Road, a prominent and heavily trafficked commercial thoroughfare in Ross Township, north of downtown Pittsburgh. This location is advantageous for travelers due to its immediate proximity to a wide array of retail establishments, dining options, and service businesses. Guests will find numerous shopping centers, including Ross Park Mall and North Hills Village Mall, as well as a diverse selection of chain restaurants and fast-food eateries within a very short drive or even walking distance. This commercial density provides convenience for everyday needs during a stay.
While the immediate surroundings are characteristic of a busy suburban commercial strip, the hotel's location offers good connectivity to other parts of Pittsburgh. Downtown Pittsburgh, with its cultural district, major sports venues (PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium, PPG Paints Arena), and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, is approximately a 10 to 15-minute drive, depending on traffic conditions. The proximity to Interstate 279 (I-279) also facilitates travel to other Pittsburgh neighborhoods and surrounding areas, including Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), which is about a 25-30 minute drive away. The environment, therefore, balances commercial accessibility with reasonable access to the city's core attractions, though it is not a quiet, secluded setting.
Services and Features (Advertised vs. Actual Experience):
As a Red Roof Inn, this property is generally positioned as a budget-friendly option, offering essential amenities. The brand typically focuses on providing comfortable, clean rooms at an affordable price, often emphasizing pet-friendliness and free Wi-Fi. According to various online listings, the Red Roof Inn Pittsburgh - McKnight Rd advertises the following services and features:
However, it is crucial to balance these advertised features with significant and consistent customer feedback, which paints a very different picture of the actual guest experience at this specific location. Customer reviews highlight severe discrepancies and deficiencies:
Promotional Information (Considering Discrepancies):
Red Roof Inn, as a brand, typically promotes itself with offers such as:
However, given the overwhelming and consistent negative feedback from actual customers regarding this specific location's cleanliness, maintenance, and overall condition, any promotional material should be viewed with extreme caution. The disparity between advertised brand standards ("Triple Checked Clean" rooms are a Red Roof Inn promise) and the reality reported by guests is significant. The hotel's listed price (e.g., $128 a night, non-refundable, as mentioned in one review) appears to be incongruous with the described quality of the accommodation. It is highly recommended that prospective guests considering this Red Roof Inn location conduct thorough research, cross-reference multiple recent reviews, and, if possible, seek alternative accommodations in the Pittsburgh North Hills area that consistently demonstrate adherence to basic hygiene and service standards. The severity of the reported issues suggests that this property may not meet even basic expectations for a comfortable or safe stay, making it a questionable choice for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me."

After my husband booked this place to stop off on our way to Philly, I looked at the reviews. Despite them being terrible, I figured “it’s only one night, it can’t be that bad, I can handle it.” But I was sorely mistaken. We didn’t even get under the sheets. Box springs were stained, curtains were ripped, the smell of cigarettes permeated the walls within the entire building that you literally took a deep breath of fresh air when you walked outside. Not to mention, you can hear E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. It was so sketchy too, like the movie “Vacancy.” I physically couldn’t stay here another moment. Sleeping in your car would be better.
May 17, 2025 · Claire NicolaouThe pictures speak for themselves...this place is a disaster zone. From the outside to the inside, it was like a set from a horror movie...except less spooky, more depressing. The check-in process was quick enough, but stepping into the elevator felt like a bad idea, and the rooms? Yikes. The blankets and sheets had more holes and stains than a worn-out pair of jeans, the lamps and furniture looked like they'd been through a wrestling match, and the bathroom vent was held together with tape...very high-tech, until it inevitably fell apart. Not to mention the shower pole is being held up by a bobby pin. Soap in the bathroom? Oh, no, just a tiny bottle of shampoo, which honestly, you wouldn’t want to use in that bathroom anyway. The walls and furniture were covered in strange, unidentifiable specks, which I’d prefer not to dwell on. And the temperature controls? Completely useless. One room had a broken unit, while the other was so clogged with dust, it seemed like a fire hazard waiting to happen. Also worth mentioning, the noise and smell. Pretty sure the people above us were rearranging their room or doing an intense workout most of the night. Plus the hallways smelled like Willie Nelson was playing a concert down in the lobby, you could probably get a contact high just walking to your room. If you’re looking for a place to actually sleep, relax, or do pretty much anything besides question your life choices, you should absolutely keep looking. At $128 a night, non-refundable, I wouldn't suggest this place to my worst enemy and you're probably better off sleeping in your car.
Mar 03, 2025 · Tasha DeitzNo excuse for failing to provide the basics in a hotel experience. Despite booking ahead two weeks in advance, I was given a room first, the TV would not turn on. Secondly, the remote had dead batteries. Third, I went to the front desk and requested new batteries, and one of those two batteries was leaking and didn’t work either. They ended up replacing my TV from another room, gave me batteries to make the TV work, and I could change channels and adjust volume, but I could never turn it on and off. Was a nightstand with two lights. One was missing the lampshade. There was no refrigerator in our room. The bathroom door didn’t even come close to closing, because it was installed crooked. So you couldn’t close the door, and it would swing open. If you just tried to pull it close to being shut, it looks like there would be a continental breakfast, but none was provided . There’s a bound on the wall for a hairdryer, but there was no hairdryer. This place has no business provide a service to the general public. Just a total lack of care and effort to maintain the place.
Mar 24, 2025 · Mike HartI’m a regular customer of red roof as it is pet friendly. I’m also a member of the rewards program. This hotel is well below standards. I called to make my reservation and I gave instructions to have a lower floor room as I had a pet. I arrived to find that there is no lower floors. It is an elevator service and I was on the second floor at the very end of the hall not convenient when we have a pet. The hallway reeked of what I can only describe as a male locker room, sweat and dirty diapers. There was trash outside two different hotel rooms. The carpet was stained and in need of a good vacuum. My room, the floor is physically dirty. The draperies are hanging off the hooks and is actually torn to bits. The HVAC had so much dust caked on the vent it barely worked. If it weren’t Christmas Eve I would be looking elsewhere for accommodations, but everything is pretty much booked. I did advise the front desk of the smell and provided pictures of the damage in my room as I don’t wanna be charged for it.
Dec 24, 2024 · Isobel WatsonThey don't have much of anything in the rooms. The dressers are all beat up, the bed was super squeaky, a chair that was broken and the whole place smelled really bad. There were burn holes in the sheets and stains all over the curtains and walls. The only thing nice about the room was the ac worked very well. I don't recommend here unless u have no where to go
