The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. We approached the front desk to check in and spoke with representatives who were moving sluggishly and barely communicating with us. Our room was incredibly small, we weren’t expecting it to be large but did expect to walk next to the bed without bumping into either the wall or the bed frame. The bathroom was a decent size and comfortable. Unfortunately, our sink drained slowly and there was no body wash left in the dispenser in the shower. First and most likely, last time staying at a Wyndham Hotel.

While the TRYP by Wyndham Pittsburgh/Lawrenceville aims to provide a high-quality experience, some guest reviews highlight areas for consideration. The location is consistently praised, being in the vibrant Lawrenceville neighborhood with easy access to attractions. The industrial-chic decor and the rooftop bar are also frequently lauded. However, some common concerns raised by guests include room size, with some finding them to be incredibly small or not as clean as expected. Issues with amenities such as slow-draining sinks or empty body wash dispensers have been reported. Noise levels, particularly from events or from the street, have also been a point of contention for some guests, suggesting that requesting a room away from event spaces or the street might be beneficial for those sensitive to noise. The bathroom doors, described as barn doors, have been noted to offer limited privacy. While staff friendliness is mentioned by some as a positive, others have reported instances of sluggish or uncommunicative service at the front desk. The mandatory valet parking fee is another point frequently brought up by guests. Potential guests should review recent promotions available through Wyndham Rewards, which often offer discounts for members booking directly for multiple nights. For instance, Wyndham Rewards members may save 10% on one night, 15% on two consecutive nights, and 20% on three or more consecutive nights at participating hotels.
In summary, the TRYP by Wyndham Pittsburgh/Lawrenceville Boutique Hotel stands out as a unique and stylish choice for visitors to Pittsburgh, especially those looking for "Hotels Near Of Me" that offer a blend of historic charm and modern amenities in a lively urban setting. While some aspects of the guest experience have drawn criticism, its prime location, distinctive ambiance, and attractive features like the rooftop bar continue to make it a notable option in the Pittsburgh accommodation landscape.

May 19, 2025 · Leigh FoxThe hotel is in a great location but that is so heavily outweighed by the negatives. The bathroom door situation is insane- it’s a barn door and not well fitted so there is absolutely no privacy at all. We are currently in a room on the second floor, traveling with kids, and apparently there is a sorority dance party directly below us. Yes, it is supposed to end at 930 but why in the world would you put a family directly over a party room when the hotel is not at all full. There had been no room cleaning service- we had to ask for soap and shower gel and where we could empty the trash cans because no one ever came (this is our fourth night). There is no fridge, you have to pay for valet parking even though you generally get your car yourself and you the rooms really aren’t the cleanest. So disappointing as we had hoped this would just be a decent option when we came to town but we will look for another option. Edited to add- it’s now 9:53 and our room is still vibrating from the party beneath us. Kids are exhausted and I’m told it will be over at 10 now. Not okay. We had been hoping to get kids up at 5 for a long drive home but that’s going to be a mess too. Two thumbs down for this hotel which had a lot of potential.
Apr 20, 2025 · Kimberly SummersThe room sucked. The barn door on the toilet closet is atrocious. The gap all around the door means no privacy at all. You might as well hang a sheet in front of the toilet. Lack of anywhere to sit is unbelievable. Besides the bed, the only place to sit was a small metal stool. When we entered our room a piece of iron or whatever was sticking out about six inches from the bottom of the bed (part of the frame). We had to put the mattress on an angle so as not to get our legs cut open. Lawsuit waiting to happen.
Apr 01, 2025 · NeilGenuinely the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. I always check the beds before getting comfortable in a room, pulled the sheet back and it was covered in hair, one or two hairs left behind? Fine I can handle that but they were everywhere. The front desk worker was very nice, we were given a new room and they didn't charge us valet. Unfortunately the new room was nasty. The floor was sticky, the fridge was leaking water all over the floor, there was stuff spilled all over walls, and beneath the bed lining the entire side along the floor was some nasty black goo, or something spilled. Don't waste your money here. I will never book with Wyndham again, and have never experienced such filth at even the cheapest hotels.
Apr 13, 2025 · EmilyWhat a horrible experience. The first thing is the barn door on the bathroom that does not lock. Even worse, it does not cover the bathroom completely. So, if someone is looks at the edge of the door he can see you in all your glory. Second item was the broken blinds that won't come done or go up. Third was the clogged drain in the sink. Fourth was the door mirror that fell on my wife. Fifth was informing this to the front desk who let me know that nothing will be done. I added photos, but for some reason they are not showing in the review.
