This is a Holiday Inn express now no longer Hampton Inn. They are in the process of remodeling, but I don’t see any evidence of that. They say a full hot breakfast on their website, but it’s only grab and go. The pool is closed. But the people are nice

Pittsburgh North Introduce

For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the property at 4575 McKnight Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, is a relevant option. This location, operating under the name "Pittsburgh North," has undergone a brand transition from a Hampton Inn to a Holiday Inn Express, as indicated by recent customer reviews. The hotel can be reached at (412) 939-3200 or mobile +1 412-939-3200. This introduction will provide an objective overview of the hotel based on its current known status and available information, including direct customer feedback.

Environment and Location:

The hotel at 4575 McKnight Rd is situated in Ross Township, a busy commercial and residential area north of downtown Pittsburgh. McKnight Road is a major retail corridor, offering guests a wide array of shopping centers, restaurants, and entertainment options within close proximity. The location provides easy access to the North Hills area, which includes communities like Ross Township, McCandless, and Cranberry Township. This makes it a convenient choice for business travelers visiting companies in the northern suburbs, as well as leisure travelers exploring attractions like the North Hills Village Mall, Ross Park Mall, and various dining establishments.

While the immediate environment is characterized by commercial development and traffic typical of a main road, the hotel's position allows for relatively quick access to downtown Pittsburgh (approximately 10-15 minutes drive, depending on traffic), as well as attractions such as PNC Park, PPG Paints Arena, Acrisure Stadium, and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The hotel is also conveniently located approximately 28 minutes drive from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT).

Services and Amenities:

As a Holiday Inn Express, the hotel aims to provide essential services and amenities for a comfortable and efficient stay. Standard offerings generally include:

  • Guest Rooms: The hotel offers 107 rooms across four floors, including standard King, Queen, and Double rooms, as well as King Suites with whirlpools or sofa beds. Rooms typically include air conditioning, private bathrooms (with shower/tub combinations and complimentary toiletries), flat-screen TVs with premium channels, free Wi-Fi, desks, irons/ironing boards, coffee/tea makers, and refrigerators/microwaves. Connecting rooms are available, and free cribs/infant beds can be provided upon request. Soundproofed rooms and blackout drapes/curtains are listed as features, aiming to ensure a restful sleep despite the busy location.
  • Breakfast: Holiday Inn Express properties are known for offering complimentary breakfast. However, recent customer feedback indicates that what was once a "full hot breakfast" might currently be a "grab and go" option, or even discontinued until further notice, due to renovation processes or other operational changes. It's advisable for guests to verify the current breakfast offering directly with the hotel.
  • Pool & Fitness: The hotel typically features an indoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. However, recent customer reviews explicitly mention that the pool is closed, and some sources indicate the fitness room might also be closed, possibly due to ongoing renovations. Guests should confirm the availability of these facilities prior to booking if they are essential to their stay.
  • Business Services: A 24-hour business center with computer stations and free Wi-Fi in public areas is generally available. The hotel also has meeting facilities, with two meeting rooms totaling 972 sq ft, capable of holding up to 53 people, making it suitable for small meetings or events.
  • Parking: Free self-parking is available on-site, including wheelchair-accessible and van parking, which is a significant convenience in this area.
  • Guest Services: The hotel provides a 24-hour front desk, express check-out, and access to an elevator. While some staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, customer reviews also highlight significant concerns regarding cleanliness and management responsiveness, which are critical aspects of guest services.

Features and Customer Feedback:

The primary feature of this property, aside from its brand affiliation, is its strategic location on McKnight Road, making it accessible for a variety of travelers. Its transition from Hampton Inn to Holiday Inn Express suggests an effort to update and rebrand, potentially with renovations. However, customer reviews provide a mixed, and in some cases, concerning picture of the current state of the hotel:

  • Renovations: The hotel explicitly states it is "in the process of remodeling" or "under renovations this 2023 summer," which could explain some inconsistencies in amenities. However, one review noted a lack of visible evidence of this remodeling.
  • Cleanliness Concerns: This is a major point of contention in recent reviews. Guests have reported severe issues, including bedbugs, other bugs on beds, mouse droppings on pillowcases, and general dirtiness. These are serious concerns for any lodging establishment and directly contradict the expected standards of a reputable hotel brand.
  • Pool and Breakfast Discrepancies: As noted, the pool is reported as closed, and the "full hot breakfast" advertised on the website was, at least for one guest, only a "grab and go" option. This disparity between advertised amenities and actual offerings is a significant detractor.
  • Management Responsiveness: One review highlights extremely negative interactions with management, where complaints about bugs and cleanliness were denied, even with photographic evidence. This level of unresponsiveness and denial is a critical issue that can severely impact guest trust and satisfaction.
  • Staff Friendliness: Despite the significant issues, some customers have praised the friendliness of individual staff members, particularly at the front desk. This indicates that while systemic issues may be present, the human element of service can still be positive.

Promotional Information (Based on Hotel Type and Reviews):

As a Holiday Inn Express, the hotel would typically promote itself through:

  • IHG Rewards Club: Offering points for stays, which can be redeemed for free nights, merchandise, or other benefits.
  • Complimentary Breakfast: While currently a "grab and go" or potentially discontinued, this is a core Holiday Inn Express offering.
  • Free Wi-Fi and Parking: Essential amenities that are often highlighted for value.
  • Convenient Location: Marketing its proximity to McKnight Road attractions, downtown Pittsburgh, and local businesses.
  • "Book Direct and Save" promotions: Encouraging guests to book through IHG channels for best rates and benefits.

Given the significant negative feedback regarding cleanliness and the state of amenities (closed pool, modified breakfast), any promotional information should be viewed with caution. Prospective guests are strongly advised to contact the hotel directly to confirm the current status of amenities, ongoing renovations, and any measures being taken to address cleanliness concerns before making a reservation. The discrepancy between the hotel's advertised features (e.g., "full hot breakfast") and the actual guest experience, as well as the reported management response to severe issues, are crucial points for consideration for anyone looking for "Hotels Near Of Me" at this location.

I never leave reviews but this hotel was absolutely super dirty, disgusting upon arrival discovered bedbugs that they try and tell me were lady bugs lol. there is a leak in the lobby with a bucket catching water. The pool is dirty and filthy and reeks. My sister also had bugs on her bed and upon leaving the room and returning mouse droppings were on the pillowcases. They switch my room and credited me for one night only. however the next day woke up to painful bites and now bedbugs feared have traveled back home with us. I sent an email to the managers and they denied that the pictures I sent them of the bugs, mice dropping etc came from their hotel like are you serious?! Distasteful, disgusting place and horrible management. Don't bring your kids here, family or yourself! The only nice thing I can say is that Some of the staff was friendly. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY

So close to actually super nice, we had 2 rooms and both just need small updates. Like ours needed a new faucet and toilet. Our friends room needed a new toilet seat and the door needed fixed. The staff were nice but you could tell they hate there job, but they helped and did everything I would expect. The did have a super nice paid snake area, but the included breakfast was very light.

Checked in at 2 am so naturally staff was semi unpleasant, I think we woke her up, but straight to the point. We got our room key and the room was slightly musty but whatever. Bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels. Breakfast was sup bar though only because it’s just straight up sugar products. Not the best hotel for the price but definitely not bad!!!

Don't. Just don't. This is the same location as the "Hampton" listing. Shady that the same property is listed as 2 different businesses. Which should have been my first clue. This is NOT a Hampton Inn (false advertising). The Hampton sign is actually covered up by a torn blue tarp. This is a a locally owned and operated roach motel that is one step away from being short term housing for mental health emergencies or a service for 'by the hour' clientele.
